New Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ic/GAEE...
This video shows you how to install a timing belt and water pump on your 1998-2010 Volkswagen Beetle. The water pump keeps coolant flowing through your engine. Common failures of the water pump will leave the coolant leaking, or stagnant. Both will lead to overheating if left untreated. The timing belt ensures that the crankshaft and cam shafts are rotating in sync with each other, ensuring the engine is running properly.
This repair was done on a 2001 Volkswagen Beetle GLS Hatchback 2-Door FWD and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:

For everyone who’s discouraged after watching this, I know it looks overwhelming, but though there are a lot of steps, none of them are excessively complicated. I did the job myself using a set of jack stands and a jack to support the engine, and though there were some obstacles, there were no roadblocks, and the end result is absolutely worth it. Thanks to TRQ for the excellent how to video. It made my job much easier.
Just wanted to say thank you for not playing stupid music during the video, great video please keep making videos just like this real mechanics will appreciate it. Nice power tool assortment too.
I followed the steps to change the timing belt and water pump on a Beetle 2009 Luna 102Ps. The work was undertaken on the drive. Like a previous comment, I used a jack under the oil sump to hold the engine in place. This was also useful to lower and raise the engine ever so slightly to aid in undoing the engine mounting bolts. Due to a different configuration, I did not need to remove the vacuum hose (5:13). I did not need to remove the coolant reservoir (12:20). The one point I did not understand was indexing the Cam tensioner (20:31). I discovered the back of the tensioner had a lug that needs to be located into a recess. The recess is on the engine block towards the top of the tensioner position. It is worth understanding how this fits prior to fitting to the belt. It is important the lug fits into the recess. I also ended up making my own tensioner tool. Nothing too complicated, two holes in a plate with two prongs. If prepared to do it yourself, it is a great video tutorial and a money saver. I took my time and it took c4 hours to complete. The parts cost me £63 - this is with discounts on the parts. Thanks.
I had a hard time to find the tensioner tool. Just ordered it. I finished it exactly what you did. Thanks man. You saved me 5 600 $
This is the best step-by-step automotive how-to video I've ever seen. Thank you!
By far the best video in this

EXCELLENT video! THANK YOU
I bought a kit for this exact job and it came with two seals?
Is this video for the petrol or diesel engines ?
hats off sir...
Awesome video Sir, ty
Great help thanks!
What does the third gear inside the protective cover run and why no marks on it to make sure it is in time?
Can you tell how many hours to do this job?
FYI for people trying this in their own garage with limited tools, once you get to the tentioner go pick up some cheap snap ring plyers instead with 90 degree head.
What is the recommended milage for all this?
Is this the same on all motors? I have a tdi 1.9…. Can’t be the same. Anyone know a video for me?
I was really on board with this, looked pretty simple until the special tool came into play. Having to buy a tool to use once makes me mad.
1:24. Notice the front of the wheel well liner is worn away. Jettas do the same thing. Just not enough room for the tire!
its jobs like this that make me only buy american cars no offense to german engineers but this doesn’t need to be this complicated take a look inside a ford fiesta lol
Leave it to Europeans to make something as simple as a water pumpa replacement silly complicated. Lol Tx for the video!
Isn't the 1.9TDI the Turbocharged Diesel?

+My Love Marquez We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
