Always love those simple but golden nuggets you toss out ( smaller washer and don't do alignment tests with the painted hardware) were at the top of the mark today, thanks.
Don't you just love that retaining screw under the fender..... lol I put em in "not quite tight" with a thread sealant or locktite and slip it under. Made a tool once to get in there, it worked but sketchy. Not worth the time. Great show Phat Tony 👍
When i did my 69 Camaro i did count the shims the worst part was aligning the side windows i took all the regulators out man what a nightmare 3days to get them right.hi from New Zealand 🇳🇿 tony keep up the good work dude!!
@ thats a good idea and i was doing some of it that way the problem was and this was back in 02 that it had had a complete lh quarter including inner wheel arch put in it and back then over here panels weren’t available like they are now so i repaired everything but that side was the problem anywho car got destroyed in a flood in 23 .thanks for your reply tho always giving you a like.jason
The screw on the lower windshield mldg screws into the A pillar behind the fender ahead of the door. Should be a hole there if you took it part. Fire chicken looks good.
Ha! I remember when I was a kid my Dad had his 70 El Camino repainted. The night they painted it was left in the booth and they ran out of fuel oil. About 2 years later it all cracked and pealed like a house.
Aligning a fisher body takes years to really get and when you think you know whats wrong it just ripples. The fenders role with the wheel house to hug the whole front end does help with supporting the a pillars. Ive had to cheat some convertibles with the rad support to get the doors to stay up or shim the pillar mounts. Ugh the struggle. Good stuff thankyou for pointing out the “pros” pshhh yeah right
One more good point squeezing the fender between the top and bottom to get the door to not chip. They spec 1/8” proud on the fender to door. Looks mint plenty of room for paint and age. Allways remember to final tighten door hinge fasteners. Worst way to ruin a new paint job. There are metal plates that belong there over the gasket
Jamming the parts before trial fit is hard to do if they need repair, and if they need repair they need to be put on anyway. If you can only hang the front end 3-5 times before you paint your doing good!

Love the firechiken..great video.
Heat rises. I knew a guy once who put a bunch of heaters in his basement to heat up the main level. He got the highest heating bill he’d ever had
Great show
Always enjoyable to watch. thanks

I've closed the doors and done them from inside before.

Assembling panels and setting gaps can definitely test your patience

I’m doing a 68 camaro. Once i got the fenders where I wanted them, I decided I was painting the car with the fenders on. PITA

Alternator belt could be shorter. You're almost at the end of adjustment slot.
Worked on these things when they were new..jeez. Was 20 years old and out of tech.
No vid on getting it running?
