- Derek in this video explains the product recall and why for ideal heatings logic Combi 2 and system 2 gas boilers. This is an urgent notice for anyone who has had a logic 2 boiler installed in the last 2 years to watch this video and then get in touch with ideal heating as soon as possible if your boiler is affected. Any boilers manufactured between August 2022 and the 7th January 2024 could be affected. Any boilers before this date or after are not affected. Ideal are saying you can continue using the boilers if you follow these steps highlighted in this video.

Thank you for sharing, this was 3 months ago ! I just received a letter from Ideal today 29th June 2024 saying my Ideal logic is one of the effected by this fault, I checked the serial number on Ideal's website and it was confirmed, I filled in the form as they requested for an engineer. I've been using it since it was installed late last year, not had any problems and it had past one yearly safely check with no problems. Since the letter I've switched it off until I can get the radiators' air drained and get the fault sorted
After the Isar how could anyone fit an Ideal. I told people they were bonkers going near anything Ideal years ago.
The Isar was the world's most economic boiler, because it was incapable of burning gas!
I still have one, but after two and half years of major hassle & forking out for the last repair (which the last engineer left in it's broken state after fitting a replacement pump, as inoperable), I gave up.
More than a decade now without heating.
Wish I could source a heat only Baxi Solo2 or 3.
I'm still fuming about the Isar - sitting there in all its fuckedness.
That's correct Derek. £47.50+ vat. They also have a video on the installer connect website covering the upgrade procedure.
My boiler is subject to the recall. The installer is doing the upgrade in a few weeks. And im still happy with my British made product with 10yr warranty.
Boilers should be encased in fire proof materials such as metal so the case forms a fire enclosure. It’s a very poor design using flammable plastic on something that is designed to get hot.
A great many parts of a modern gas boiler are made from plastic, including the flue (chimney). It’s all about efficiency and economy now!!!
I think every boiler on the market has a plastic component to it , a 100kg all metal boiler might cause some installation issues
Cases are plastic so that it doesn’t conduct electricity 😉
It’s a poor design! Metal is safer and just needs an earth connection to be safe electrically.
Once upon a time Ideal boilers were one of the best boilers to install, nothing to go wrong & pretty much bullet proof.
They still are. Only the Isar/Icos were a bit dodgy. Logic has sold over 4 million in fifteen years and is an excellent boiler. My customers love them and mine has never missed a beat in seven years so far. Some of my installs are over twelve years old and I've only had a tiny number of warranty calls. The W/C module is good value and an easy fit too.
Gas valves and sumps are shit in them. Apart from that they are relatively steady. In the older ones as well the spark generators were shit.

Thanks for the heads up. What about Morco GB Series? It's an LPG Ideal Logic with different badge but same Ideal Parts, made for the leisure Industry (LAV & RPH)
Guess they weren’t in production when the fault accrued.
Morco GB boilers are NOT affected.
Gawd, I had one of these in my new build. I reckon Ideal are only as popular as they are due to new build developers bulk installing them.
I recommend Baxi 800 combi 2 or system- size, good price, 10-year warranty, easy to service , brass hydraulics.
Why on earth they didn't fit 'High-Limit' stat is beyond me, there are other videos I have seen where the HX has melted inside the chamber, as most of us know, these aluminium chambers commonly pin hole around the top and lose pressure.
Did Worcester Bosch do a recall over Greenstar Cdi electrode packs with the glass window that set the boilers on fire ? Nah... Of course not 🙄

Home owner must perform a touch-safe test on the boiler case before looking underneath for the serial #.
Shame for Ideal, hope they get them sorted.

The kit they are fitting is just cutting the water pressure switch, customers will not know what's happening and will try and re pressure the kit is crap
Ordered a kit for one of my affected installs, 7 weeks later nothing. They told me the packs would be rolled out on the 18th March 2024 but as of yet I still have not received it. Now they say only a small percentage are affected but today I received another reply to my complaint about how slow they are to sort this and I quote" due to the large number of kits that need to be delivered there is a delay please accept our apologies" so on the one hand not many a small fraction of 1% and now its lots. The worst bit is I was carrying out work for a new client a month ago and noticed there boiler was one listed but they had only moved in the week previous, Ideal told me I could not do the repair it would be done in house and guess what they have already done it 3 weeks after I requested my one. Talk about leaving a bad taste, I had only recently say 3 years started to fit Ideal again after the Icos and Isar fiasco boilers so I guess they are off the menu again for me.
They want our help to sort this out so they could be a little bit more grateful don’t you think
@@tomkatgastraining Totally especially when they initially told me I had to have my invoice in by the 3rd week of April otherwise I won't get paid but how can I when I can't get the kit. The CEO ( I emailed him as well) said they were taking this very seriously and disputed the video of the boiler fire. We are at the forefront of safety and we keep getting nagged about safety and procedures . Why are not Gas Safe or the HSE on top of this. My one client who is still waiting is extremely worried and she does not know about the real problem only the recall.
The figures quoted are not correct it potentially affects every Logic 2 boiler produced. The design of the logic 2 is flawed because they have changed position of the overheat NTC sensor, they were told about this when promo types came out but didn't bother to listen to their own engineers. The logic 2 has been a fiasco from start to finish, the over heat stat they are fitting is nothing more than a cover up and a cheap short time solution. why didn't they put the NTC sensor back at top of the hex, oh sorry that will cost more money, absolute joke.
That's mine, it's sat here on the floor waiting to be installed later this month. I'm only having a new one installed because i had to top my old one up every day through the last two winters. What are they going to pay me for staying home whilst ideal fix the flipping thing.

I had part fitted I got problems with pressure dropping any help.plumber says it’s not got anything to do with new part and to contact ideal
So when this was announced i put the serial numbers in and 1 came back stating it could he effected and asked to put my details in and the customer. Then said we will be in touch. Heard nothing?

@@danielbailey1452 Of Course it’s complete rubbish that screwing the Sump Cover on was cracking the Sump. The Sumps are cracking due to being shite!!! The composite Plastic is put under strain, combined with heat, they just crack. But Ideal blamed the Engineers that were servicing them.
