The Song of Achilles & Dracula were my top books of the year! I didn’t read for a long time before picking up The Song of Achilles & it reignited my love of reading so much so that I basically haven’t stopped reading since the end of August lol. 40ish books later & it’s still my favorite along with Dracula.
omg I just finished both of those books last week. how random haha

RF Kuang has definitely become an all-time favorite author for me this year, i started The Poppy War back in Feb or March, devoured Babel twice, and just finished The Burning God. She has broken my heart countless times, and i thank her for every single time hahaha (also Yellowface is one of my most anticipated books of 2023)

Light from Uncommon Stars making it to your top books makes me happy. It was one of my favorite books last year.
So glad to see My Brilliant Friend on your list! The Neapolitan Quartet was my favourite this year! 💖
I’m so pleased to see Hamnet on this list! Everything you said about it echos how I felt when I read it. I also read Maggie O’Farrell’s new book, The Marriage Portrait, this year and it is stunning as well. Along with Hamnet she really seems to be coming into her own.
My favorite new book that I read this year was "piranesi". I absolutely loved this book!

one of my top book of 2022 is A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers which is a short cozy sci-fi book and i think you would absolutely love it !!!! i highly recommend it (and all Becky Chambers books)
This book is fantastic!
i just read A Psalm for the Wild Built and it's honestly one of my favorite books of all time now!
FINALLY SOMEONE GOVING DESERVED LOVE TO LIGHT FROM UNCOMMON STARS!!!! one of my new favorite books ever written. i love it so much.
Babel is on my Christmas wishlist! I'm probably going to get it on audible if i don't get it for christmas.
Thank you for another great year of recommendations! Happy holidays and New year!
Love your mix of literary fiction and fantasy! Helps me dip my toes into fantasy, knowing we have similar tastes!
I just finished the last book of The Neapolitan Novels yesterday and oh my G! Several moments had me gasp out loud ‘what!?’
The series is truly a work of art.
And I started the show as well. It’s amazing. The actors cast as
Lila and Lenu are perfect to a T.
Thanks for introducing us to many new 'places' and people in your literary picks. It's been some journey this year. That's the thing with books there's no limit to where you can go and who you can meet. 😊.
Watching you both move to your new home has been like a new chapter of a book, too🤗. Can't wait to follow you into 2023. Have a great Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year. A tummy rub for Matilda, too.

yes! I read great circle because of you and absolutely loved it!! 5 stars!!
So happy to see The Beautiful Ones on this list 😊❤
If I Had Your Face was the book that got me back into reading this year, glad to see someone else who enjoyed it, too!

Hamnet also made it on my list!! I read it in April and I still think about it -- it just sits with you forever i guess omg
my brilliant friend is a quartet actually! i’m on #2 right now, so good.
it's fantastic. and the show is a masterpiece as well.
Glokta is one of my absolute favorite characters of all time! I bet you will love the new trilogy by Abercrombie (The Age of Madness)
I bought Babel because of your review and received it yesterday. Will definitely end the year on a good note by starting it! I have a bachelor's degree in translation (although I never used it) so I'm sure I will be more than interested!
Same! 🙋🏻♀️😂
I have a double bachelors in French and Italian and haven’t really used them lol
me 2! I also have a double bachelors in translation and never used it. Just bought Babel a few days ago because of Regan, I'm very intrigued :)
@@Kaciux glad you’re enjoying it so far! 🤗
Thank you for the recommendations🤓

I don't read much fantasy, but I'm reading "Babel" right now, about halfway through, and am really enjoying it. Also read "Light From Uncommon Stars" and thought it was great.
I loved Babel! It took me a while to read, but I really enjoyed every moment. I hope you continue to enjoy it!
The Hod King was one of my favorites in 2022 also. I plan to get to the fourth book early in '23. I also loved the Mistborn series, Farseer Trilogy, Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, and Anxious People by Fredrik Backman.
My favourite book this (last?) year was The Sword of Kaigen! It's just sooooo so so so so so so SOOOO GOOD! Thank you so much for always mentioning/recommending it. It's really worth the hype!
My top books this year were Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and Project Hail Mary!
Can’t wait to hear about more Abercrombie!
Great Circle will be read in 2023! Need to get on that!
Just want to say that I am excited to see what your favs are. I was listening to one of your vids and off handedly remembered that you recommend "Burn for Me" by Ilona Andrews.... 6 books later, my life has changed. So I am very excited to hear what else you recommend 😊 also have a lovely holiday season
Happy holidays to you Regan, and your family! 🎄🎅🏻
I am 8 books away from my 100 books a year reading goal as well! So excited. PS: Since I have followed you on this channel, I have bought all your "top fantasy series" recommendations! Impeccable taste!
Plain Bad Heroines is my top favorite book this year!! It was hard to narrow 80 books down (I’m usually at around 20 a year but this year was a good one for reading!)
*drops everything* this is my favorite video of the year, every year
I'm starting First Law in February and can't wait! Also highly prioritizing Traitor Baru Cormorant next year :)
ᵗʰᵃⁿᵏˢ ᶠᵒʳ ʸᵒᵘʳ ᶠᵉᵉᵈᵇᵃᶜᵏ💚. ᵏⁱⁿᵈˡʸ ʷʳⁱᵗᵉ ᵐᵉ ᵒⁿ ʷʰᵃᵗˢᵃᵖᵖ☛⟊➀➇➂➁➂ꉻ➃➂➃➄➅
I actually read Hamnet and Babel this year as well and while both special and interesting with very important topics and heavy themes they didn’t end up being my favorites. I read considerably less than you but I would say I really enjoyed Sandman (main 10 volumes), Clarice Lispector writing in general & Yukio Mishima.
This year I just ended up not enjoying that many books but they were all very interesting. I hope to end my year with couple comfort reads and start 2023 with Secret Project 1 so it should be good 😂 plus I will get Mushishi for Christmas so excited!
The island of sea women was my favorite! Also love A discovery of witches.
A nice list. I'll try read more novels now in 2023.
My best books of this year were The Sound and the Fury, The Neapolitan Novels, Pachinko and the Daevabad Trilogy
Wich books would you recommend for people that LOVED The daughter of the forest? Love this video, will be purchasing some of these.
yayyy so many new books to add to my tbr!!
Hamnet was one of my favourites too!
Regan, would you ever consider doing a video to discuss your thoughts on the Babel series/the ending? I just finished the last book and I have FEELINGS and QUESTIONS🥲🥲🥲🥲

Favorite books I read this year definitely includes Babel. Also Peach Blossom Spring by Melissa Fu, Stoner by John Williams, In the Distance by Hernan Diaz, and Bliss Montage by Ling Ma
Great list, I added The First Law Trilogy & The Traitor Baru Cormorant to my list. I've also read the My Brilliant Friend series this year, and it really gets more impressive with every book. My favorite books this year are:
Cleopatra & Frankenstein by Coco Mellors
Remote Sympathy by Catherine Chidgey
Milk Fed by Melissa Broder
The No-Show by Beth O'Leary
Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica
Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid
The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrel (I thought it was even better than Hamnet)
Babel by R.F Kuang
The Dragon Prince & The Burning God by R.F Kuang
While looking at your video, I realised that « The beautiful ones » was only 99cts on Kindle so I just bought it ! I can’t wait to read it and I hope that I will enjoy it as much as you did 🥰
I finally got to reading Stormlight Archive and even if I’m not done yet, Words of Radiance is one of the best Fantasy book I’ve read in a long time
honestly way of kings is incomparable to any other fantasy book i’ve read
Ideally enjoyed Tom Felton’s “Beyond the Wand!” ✨
Im hoping to read Traitor Baru Cormorant and start the First Law Series this year! My favourites include Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, If We Were Villians and Natural History of Dragons

All of your jumpers and cardigans look so comfy, could I ask what your go-to clothing store is?
Made well. I think is what she always says.
One of my favourite books this year was sword of kaigen, the greenbone sage, the three body problem and Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe duology.
ᵗʰᵃⁿᵏˢ ᶠᵒʳ ʸᵒᵘʳ ᶠᵉᵉᵈᵇᵃᶜᵏ💚. ᵏⁱⁿᵈˡʸ ʷʳⁱᵗᵉ ᵐᵉ ᵒⁿ ʷʰᵃᵗˢᵃᵖᵖ☛⟊➀➇➂➁➂ꉻ➃➂➃➄➅
My favorite book of this year was "The Sunbearer Trials" by Aiden Thomas. A Mexican inspired Percy Jackson meets the Hunger Games!
well that sounds absolutely amazing
I have promised myself I will get to Hamnet early next year!
Are you going to continue with the threads of power series by VE schwab?
Babel was easily my favourite book of the year; I was absolutely blown away, I have never cried so hard reading a book. The writing was beautiful, and I was taken aback constantly and couldn't predict what would happen next. Another favourite was The Stationary Shop, and I finished Tawny Man - Fitz and the Fool series by Robin Hobb and continued to love the world she built.

I am torn between Leviathan Falls and Bloodmarked for my fave book of the year. I loved them both so much.

I just started "The Way of Kings" and, seeing that it's a 1,000+ page brick and I doubt I'll finish it before January, I can confidently say that "Fairy Tale" by Stephen King was my favorite book of 2022.
i promise you it’s worth it. i finished it in a week once i got into it. i love that series more anything.
Then you might already have your fave of 2023 ;)
@@wyndle9228 same! It was the first book I read from Brandon Sanderson and since then I have devoured the whole Stormlight Archives, Mistborn series and his other books. Warbeaker was so amazing too like I can't believe I'm alive in the same time as Sanderson to read his books, so lucky
Merry Christmas happy holidays Regan your the best thanks so much for best year of books vlogs recommendations xoxo 😚 🎄💚🕎🕎💚🎄💚☃️☃️☃️📙🎁📙☃️🕎❤️🎄🎄📖📖📚📚💚❤️❤️☃️☃️📙📙📖📖📖📚💚❤️🕎💚❤️📙
My Brilliant Friend ranks among my top series of all time
Favourite book that came out in 2022 is I Fell in Love With Hope by Lancali. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes lgbtq books, lyrical writing, found family trope, soulmates trope, and best friends to lovers but grab the tissues!
Look up trigger warnings first.
It always blows my mind when booktubers do these videos before the year is even over!! I'm *hoping* to read about five more books before 2023!
One of my top books was This Is Gonna Hurt by Adam Kay!
Totally agree....brilliant read!
Gosh Babel needs to be read by me soon! 🤣

I’ve been enjoying robin hobb and lots of kindle unlimited fantasy romance. But I say for the year my favorite was a romance called darling venom. I think about it everyday. Soul crushingly good. 😢
What do u think of crescent city? Do u have a no spoiler review? I need ur opinion to buy it
I only read 10 books in 2022. I had so much going on that I could barely find the time to read. Out of the 10 books I read in 2022 though, Six Crimson Cranes and A Magic Steeped In Poison were my top reads.
Good to hear someone enjoyed AMSIP. I have it on my shelf, unread and was considering selling it, but I’m not sure. The cover is so beautiful.
@@rubyanddelilahandnani Agreed, the cover is absolutely stunning and one of my favourites. Same goes for the second book, just a stunning duology really haha. I highly recommend reading it, and even if you don't like it definitely keep it just for that gorgeous cover 😊
@@xXMuseFan1996Xx I’ll keep it and give it a try 😊
What series is in the top right of the bookshelf? The spine looks really cool from what I can see
I think it’s Robin Hobb’s ‘Realm of the Elderlings’ series. I want to start it next year…… 😊
Hard to choose, but I'd say these were the Top Ten new to me books of 2022 (excepting novels in series started in previous years), from a variety of genres, including Romance, Mystery, SciFi and Fantasy.
The Siren of Sussex : Mimi Matthews
Frederica : Georgette Heyer
The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side (Miss Marple series) : Agatha Christie
The Tea Master and the Detective (Xuya universe) : Aliette de Bodard
Into the Real : Lydia Sherrer and John Ringo
A Deadly Education (Scholomance series) : Naomi Novik
the long way to a small angry planet (Wayfarer series) : Becky Chambers
Ancillary Justice (Imperial Radch series) : Ann Leckie
Shadows of Self (Mistborn Era 2 series) : Brandon Sanderson
Piranesi : Susanna Clarke
I also discovered Joe Abercrombie last year and absolutely loved this series. It’s like if Terry Pratchett was writing a Guy Ritchie script produced by George RR Martin. 😂 It’s like the best of everything. I loved all of it, but kind of struggled through Best Served Cold in the wake of it…
4:29 the only thing i hear in my brain is "THE HURRICANE KATRINA" LMAOOOOO
Mauler and Questus by english writer Shawn Williamson. Mauler is indicated by english writer, historian, cinema director Andrew Sinclair. He compares It with White Fang by Jack London.
These are my favorites of 2022:
1. Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston
2. The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane by Julia Nobel
3. Chef’s Kiss by Jarrett Melendez
4. She Gets the Girl by Rachael Lippincott and Alyson Derrick
5. Heartstopper Vol. 1 by Alice Oseman
6. Vicious Spirits by Kat Cho
7. These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong
8. Dear Haiti, Love Alaine by Maika and Maritza Moulite
9. The Curie Society by Heather Einhorn
10. The Samurai’s Garden by Gail Tsukiyama
I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness by Claire Vaye Watkins was one of my first and best reads in 2022. It’s hard for me to describe it… It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it hooked me emotionally and I had to go buy it so I could keep revisiting it.

Your top two actually are my top two for most disappointing. Hamnet was my most disappointing in 2021, and Babel I debating DNFing multiple times.
Curse of the Specter Queen by Samantha Knox, The Final Gambit by Jennifer Lynn Barnes (I love the Inheritance Games trilogy. A great YA series) Signs of Survival: A Memoir of Two Sisters in the Holocaust, The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner (I think it might be #1 I don't know) Raising the Horseman by Serena Valentino (a big surprise and read it in 2 days) Lost Coast Literary Ellie Alexander, The Summer of Lost Letters by Hannah Reynolds, Win Lose Kill Die by Cynthia Murphy (I listened to the audiobook and loved it. Such a great murder mystery set at a high school boarding school and secret society. I listened to it on a whim and was surprised) The Serpent's Curse by Lisa Maxwell (the 3rd book in the Last Magician series) The Shadow Glass by J.J.A Harwood, The Nature of Witches by Rachel Griffin

Babel was great, but oof the last 30% of the book was just so horrifyingly depressing 😔
Right?! I didn't see the end coming.
I read a little life at the beginning of December, finished it in a week. Then I read three other books. This is the most I've read in such a long time. Ialso read no longer human which my coworker recommended. Then I read We are the Light and They both die in the end.
I need something happy to read.

Agree, totally recommend Still Life! My fav of 2022!
I'd like you to read the artifacts series by Ivan wikert jr
Meri Kirihimete Regan ,Clay & Matilda 🎄🎉🤗🐶

The 2022 releases of Ariana Nash, MXTX's books that came out this year, Song of Achilles, and the Elder Scrolls books by Cassandra Clare,
I was disappointed by Light from Uncommon Stars. I found it very surface level and was frustrated by finding out so little in depth about the most interesting elements. I can see why people compare it to Becky Chambers but I think it falls far short of Chambers in quality.
Here's my favorite books of 2022
1. Dolores Claiborne by Stephen king
2. The great peace by mena suvari her memoir
3. Billy summers by Stephen king
4. Not my father son by Alan Cumming his memoir
5. The heart principle by helen Huang
6. The cactus by Sarah Haywood
7. They never learn by Layne Fargo
8. A king of battle and blood by scarlett st claire
9. Iron widow
10. The charm offensive by allison Cochrane
I’ve read NONE of these 🥲
