  • Fruit has lots of fiber and nutrients, but it’s not always the best choice for weight loss.
In this video, I explain what you need to know about the natural sugar found in fruit.
Fruit sugar or fructose must be processed by your liver before your body can use it.
A healthy liver has no problem dealing with the natural fructose in a piece of fruit. Unfortunately, there is an unnatural form of fructose that is found in many of our modern day foods.
High fructose corn syrup causes fat to be deposited in the liver, which leads to a cascade of metabolic issues that block fat loss.
When those metabolic issues are present, too much fruit becomes a problem
    In this video, you'll learn
*How to avoid overloading your body with fructose
*How to handle fruit if you have trouble losing weight
*The best diet strategy to reverse metabolic issues like fatty liver and insulin resistance

I removed all fruit then after losing weight 20 kgs. I now eat oranges only or I add one Mandarin and 6 chunk pieces of pineapple to my salads .
As a result of my year long diet I have reversed my type 2 diabetes.

I think there are several kinds of fructose...synthetic fructose as a preservative and natural fructose that doesn't require the liver, I've been told. Check with biochemistry. Glucose is sooner entertained by the liver along with man made synthetic fructose the preservative. Fructose that is not natural then may be handled by the liver.

I think the fruit servings per day is two servings and often it's a half of fruit for adult and for children a whole fruit...and that's between meals.

There's no fast rule because metabolism vary along with energy consumption. So often it's a whole fruit for everyone.

Since November 2nd of last year I stopped eating processed sugar, started working out again after 2 years of doing nothing while recovering from chemo. I weighed 238lbs then. By February I was down to 195lbs, 6'tall, medium build, which is where I am now. I didn't eat much fruit then (back in November) and almost no processed sugar. I now eat a little more fruit like bananas, strawberries, pineapple, and seasonal black cherries. Still no processed sugar, but do eat red meat, salmon, sardines, tuna, and a variety of veggies, especially cabbage. (Love that cabbage). I do intermittent fasting on average 4 days a week and I feel great. Cancer is totally in remission. I'm 71 years old. Love these videos too 😍

Thanks Dr Becky for explaining things in an easy to understand way. Since dumping my low fat diet a couple of years ago, and opting for a low carb one, I feel and look so much better. At 55 I'm probably in better shape than I've been in since I was in my early 20s. No more having to kill myself down the gym because I just couldn't get into shape. Happy days.

I am so glad I found this channel. Your videos are incredibly informative. I recently cut sugar and HFCS from my diet but kept the fruit. I must not have too many metabolic issues as I have lost 25 lbs in 9 weeks. But the way you explained what fruit can do makes sense for those who can't lose weight if they keep eating it. Thank you so much for posting.

These videos are great; I knew much of this information already, but had trouble making sense of some it, especially the effect of eating too much protein; now I understand why my weight loss is so slow. Am already on a high fibre, high fat, high protein and low carb diet but finding it difficult to keep the carbs down, so keep gaining weight, essentially am yo-yoing; now I know how to effectively re-structure the diet by keeping the protein intake down so hopefully can kickstart the weight loss again. Many thanks for such clear and informative videos.

My husband and I have started walking more, but more importantly, watching what we eat. We have sweet tooths!! Lol. Soooo, we have a plant protein based smoothie, almond milk, and toss in Raspberries, Blueberries & cherries - a banana occasionally. A huge Salad a day with good fats, and protein (ie. Eggs, turkey, tuna, chicken) based breakfasts & lunches with some complex carb or veggie... we still have a treat once/twice a week... a cookie lol or a blueberry acai smoothie pop! Delicious!!! We just started and I have lost 3pounds slowly in 2weeks. We want to focus on healthy living which we can enjoy :) Thank you for your encouraging and informative videos!!

This is sooo true. Back in 2012 I started a mostly fruit based vegan diet and felt great. Except….I kept eating sugary junk. I would have defended fruit till the end until I realized that I had caused my body to become insulin resistant and pre diabetic, and now even fruit is a problem. Hard won lesson. This is great. Love what you said here about fruit. Life long fruit fan here but have been raised since childhood also on refined, processed flours and sugars.
When I had my own kids I did some research and our diet got so much healthier, only drank water, cooked whole form organic foods from scratch.
Years later busyness and exhaustion took over, we succumbed to eating a lot of conventional processed Western foods,. When I stopped running it all got worse!
Have wondered in the last few years why I have felt so cruddy and always tired. The 15 lbs I couldn’t lose since I had my last child became the 25lbs.
Kicking all those out of my diet again and trying Keto, or at least low carb, fresh foods eating, depending how this goes.
Fruit is the area I struggle with because even when I didn’t eat much vegetables I was eating 3-4 servings of fruit most days. Going to see how my body responds to eating clean before I jettison the fruit. Who knows?
Maybe it will be enough cutting out grains, most sugars and processed foods? 💕xo

Thank you SO much! As a person who has always been “too thin”, it is hard for me to see my daughter (22 years old) struggle with being overweight. Harder still in that I can’t do it for her, and she believes she know it all. Think I’m going to throw out all the sugary crap she brings into the house while she’s at work, haha!

A Viewer I’m so glad you’re not my mother. She is a grown woman. Whether you like it or not it is her choice what to eat. 🤦‍♀️WOW!

@@Groovyredhead ofcourse she is not your mum. People like you think they know it all. This is a woman who obviously cares for her daughter. Maybe you don't know what that means. You are coming under a harmless comment to shade another woman. People like you abuse the word 'choice' and it makes it hard to simply appreciate each other's help and care. Now if her daughter is hit so hard with obesity related issues am sure she will need her family to be there for her and show her love. But at this point you just open your mouth and talk trash about a mother who cares. You have a lot to learn.

This is love. As a mother of a daughter myself, I know you're feeling so desparate for her, being empathetic to her struggle with this, and know that this will bring on health issues, and struggles for her that will keep her from having a fulfilled, fun, productive, and quality life that you want so much for her. This is normal. You are a person who really cares. Some comments tells me that those people aren't mature enough to realize this. Although we each have been given free will to make our own choices, just try being there for her, being a good listener, time for her, exercising with her even if it's suggesting her to go for a walk with you about the time you think she might be going into the crunch n munch mode. Just tell her you would like to get in a walk for the day, and ask if she would go with you. Join a good clean, quality gym with her, and go together. Working out is healthy for all shapes and sizes. Keeps the bones built up, and the blood circulating. Just stay positive with her, and in the end after you do all you can do, just make sure you've been taking care of you. You are important too. 💖💖☺️🤗🌺

@@josie9583 indeed. One of the key points is that it is the mother’s house. My house, my rules. No junk food allowed. The daughter wants the freedom to make her own choices, get your own place to live.

Thanks for the video. Unlike many, weight loss is not my problem. My challenge is how to keep my A1c blood sugar in check. I am also primarily a vegetarian. Cutting out most fruit, avoiding starchy carbs, and not eating meat leaves me wondering what to eat. I have learned from you to eat just whole grain, unrefined carbs (while limiting them to maybe 125 grams per day), which vegetables to eat, and which foods have healthy fats, but all those seem to me to be a very narrow spectrum of foods. Your suggestions?
