    If I'm not mistaken, this machine is not original but a perfect copy. It's incredible.

    An incredible feat to accomplish. The reconstruction of the legendary Honda RC116 50cc 2-cylinder All which Ralph Bryans in 1965 Became world champion. Nico Claasen the Reconstructor, shows me some time ago how much work and energy was inserted.
    And everything looks like it comes from the Honda racing department.
    Nico my congratulations.

    So many Japanese race bikes were crushed when seasons ended, so I'm happy to see the ones which escaped that fate.

    • @peterg2yt
      @peterg2yt 2 роки тому +3

      I think it is complete ‘folklore’ to say that Japanese race bikes were crushed… Certainly they were of no further use to the factories, but there is no evidence to say that they were ‘crushed’. In any case, this one didn’t “escape”, it is a replica made by Mr Nico Claasens (and a beautiful work of art too)!

    I believe this is like the last version of the 50cc twin. They could not make more power as they went to 22k rpm, so this was smaller and lighter. Note the front rim brake.

    And people today mock small engined motorcycles and 2 strokes but have no idea what came before. Machines that would leave their NCAP safety cubes in the dust and predate their own existence. Some still exist, the rgv,RS of rhe world. But alas Litre 4 banging twist and goes are all the rage.

      I'm glad someone else sees it that way to, they had some truly remarkable bikes you just don't see anymore. My Honda cb400t still runs as strong as it did back in its prime. If that doesn't say quality engineering I don't know what does.

    Amazing engineering. Minarelli and Kreidler took the 50cc even further with 22+ hp. They were 2T bikes, to this one which is a 4T. The build tolerance and use of materials must fanatical if the bike is expected to do more than a lap.

    • @akabiscuitwaffle
      @akabiscuitwaffle 3 роки тому +3

      I feel like, in a way, this one takes it further then the two stroke options did. If only for it maintaining such amazing efficiency at such a high RPM.
      Where when we see 2 stroke NA 50's hitting 20hp at 16,000, we'd expect them to be making closer to 25hp at 16,000 if they ran that same kind of efficiency...which should be even higher given the lower mechanical losses of the lower RPM- or if someone could manage to make one run as efficiently at the same 21500 RPM as the RC116 here, it'd be making 33hp.
      But woah is the issues of trying to make air/fuel flow fast and efficiently enough inside a crossflow 2 stroke, as is the task of the 2strokestuffing PIP engine...which on paper is suppose to make 30hp+ at 20,000rpm. So, actually on par/advancement/impressive VS old guys all reading and following a engine design book from the 70's.

    • @CaptHollister
      @CaptHollister 2 роки тому +2

      ...and yet people are reconstructing the honda 50 twin and the 250 6 cylinder (maybe even the 125 5 cylinder someday) while no one really cares much about the Minarelli and Kreidler. Those Hondas have become mythical in ways no other race bike ever has. It was the Honda 4T that took technology to its limit. Had the FIM not changed the rules to effectively make it impossible to build a competitive 4T race bike, who knows how far they would have gone.

    • @binkyboobosh1
      @binkyboobosh1 2 роки тому +4

      @@CaptHollister ..people do care about the Minarelli and kreidler engines...they have a huge and loyal following at all levels. The difference is they still exist and are quite common. Race replicas are also common and are relatively easy to reproduce.. The Honda wasn't openly manufactured and reconstructing is more of a challenge. Not sure the Honda 'reconstruction' programme is that vast...but it's good to see...and I welcome it.

    Früher, nach dem Ende des Krieges ab 1945, wurde der Motorsport wieder populär und für Motorräder gab es die Hubraum-Klassen: 50(später 80), 125, 250, 350 und 500ccm, sowie die Seitenwagen bis 500ccm!! Habt ihr Alle mitgezählt?? Und dann noch die ganze Armada in der Ausweis- und Lizenz- Klasse, das sind dann je 6 unterschiedliche Rennklassen, die an EINEM Wochenende gezeigt wurden!! Und heutzutage fahren gerade mal noch 3‼️ verschiedene Klassen an einem Wochenende rum!! Und sowas wird unsereins, die Alles von Anfang an verfolgt haben, als GROSSES Event verkauft!! Das ich nicht lache!! Es gibt ja auch keine Klassen mehr, sondern jetzt gibt's die Moto3, Moto2, MotoGP!! MotoGP, Motorräder, die OHNE elektronische Hilfen keine Sau mehr fahren kann!! Was soll denn der Quatsch?? NEIN, das ist nicht mehr interessant, auch wenn sich die Fahrer die allergrößte Mühe geben und man vor ihnen den Hut ziehen muss, was sie auf diesen Monstern leisten!! Oldtimer-Rennen sind da viel interessanter!! Kann jeder sehen, wie er will! 🙋
