- Build your stash and craft is a weekly series for new crafters where we will build our stash of craft items on $7.50 a week and create a different craft each week using the stash we have built :) Tutorials for the weekly crafts will be uploaded on Tuesdays each week and at the end of each video I will show the crafty items we will need for the next week so you can play along :)

I have been given about 40 mini dye ink pads. I also have about 20 mini chalk ink pads from the 1$ bins at ac Moore years ago. All of my mini ink pads are all dried out. Do you think putting the hand sanitizer on the dried out ink pads would revive them? Could I add my own ink to them? What if I tried to change the color of the original ink pad? Thank you Amy. I so appreciate your video each week.
Thank you for your sweet comment :) If you have pads you are going to throw away, it is worth trying a bit of glycerine and water for water based pads or rubbing alcohol for solvent based pads :) That should work if they are just dried out, but if you have used up the ink the only way to get more color is to reink them :) I hope this helps :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy

Amy I love your series. I never thought of using food coloring to make a ink pad. Is it better to use the gel food coloring or it doesn't matter? I have some would die and pigments ink pads(love the colors / no longer make.) how to can I revive them? Tyfs and your creativity.

I think I would like these smaller ink pads more than the large ones. I'm going to get around to making some of these--just because it looks fun :) We have two dollar trees in our local area, and they have both removed a lot of the great products (like crafting and stationary) that I depended on. They have replaced many, many items with $3 and $5 items that I know I won't really use. So my days of dollar shopping are sadly over. Is this happening everywhere?

I read that gorilla Glue is water proof and work well holding sponges down but not sure if it is alcohol proof.
Great video I still have mine from last series...Amy will felt pads work can't find the dish cloth type any wear thanks hugs always from Canada

Can I use this to reink some of my old ink pads?
I would use this on old ink pads if I was not going to but the reinker at a later date :) If you are going to throw the ink pads away you might as well try this and see how it works, that is the fun of creating, just play around with it :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
What type of sponge is that, that you are using? Does it matter what type of sponge you use when making these mini stamps?

Hi Amy! Another inspiring video! Are you still taking requests for DIY craft tools/embellishments/etc. that you could puzzle out for us? I have a good one for you: Do you remember the coated papers we used to emboss/die-cut and then sand off the coating? I think the brand name was Core-dination (sp?) Papers. Well, it has gotten very hard to find (I've heard from Stacey Parks, of SMS, it isn't manufactured any longer. Eek!) and I have some dies with embossing features that I want to use with it. I'm concerned a layer of just acrylic paint would come off in pieces when sanded. Maybe it could be mixed with something?
Thank you for your sweet comment :) I will give it a ponder :) The paper was just a plain colored card stock with a white core, at the time solid color was something advertised as special, and then when the embossing was started the white core paper became a specialty paper, lol :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
@@aljohn The version I saw had a lighter version of the coating color in the core, not white. For example, red over pink or golden yellow over pale yellow. And I have seen a couple that have different colors for the coating and the core: one was navy coating over pale grey and the other was a distressed -looking (almost like worn denim) grey coating over black.

Can the same formula be used for reinkers as for the ink for these pads? I have quite a few dried out pads (used the glycerine trick, they're too far gone to revive that way) and the reinkers for them are no longer available. How do I get them to match colourwise (or is it a trial and error process)??
If your pads are all used up and you cannot get the reinkers you want, this will give you use of those pads instead of throwing them away :) Matching would be trial and error, but you may come up with colors of your own that you like even better :) tfw, and I hope you have an Outstanding Day :) amy
Thanks for your reply Amy. I've been researching different methods online, even the CMYK mixes (yikes, looks complicated but challenging - I have a lot of dried up spenk inkjet cartridges that I feel could be reconstituted). Currently soaking dried up felt tips in a little water to get colour bases, it's all an experiment/trial and error but that's the fun!! Love your channel and inspiration, x
So this is alcohol ink??? Do you know how to make water base ink like for reinkers?
