I call those painted terminal clamps "Emergency Use". Once you use them, you may have another Emergency in the near future.
I've always seen those unpainted ... I guess they have to be fancy these days.
Had a no crank towed in awhile back because of exactly this. Can't believe they sell these. DIYers see they look pretty and they must be worth the extra buck or two. HAHAHA kind of funny
I work at an advance and I never recommend those kinds of terminals for that exact reason you’re mentioning.

Couldn’t you have just cleaned the paint off?
They are not designed to have a terminal bolted to them is the second issue with these.
