There are two things i'm afraid of above all others. Cancer because it's possible to get it without ever knowing until it's too late to do anything about it, and Alzheimer's because once you get it there's no way to stop it. Of the two I fear Alzheimer's more because it stripes away everything that makes you a person before you die.
The 2nd story made me cry, my aunt has dementia her memory is going I saw her recently and she just looked through me. If I ever get to that stage I hope someone helps me go quickly.
Some time ago I met a woman who had lost much of her thoughts, and she referred to me as her fiancé and that we were late to a party even though I was just a visitor to a nursing home. I was just a friendly face to someone so old that no one can recall if she had any living relatives.

Maybe, but it is the human condition after all. I would have said that the story was "Heart Rending" as a lot of us humans see this very thing in our love ones, and it is so very heart rending to watch.

Love that the txt is readable on phones, which helps when you need very low sound while kids/wife sleep or if english isnt your first language.
