As an American, we don't put the same importance on the First World War as the Second. And, while Armistice day is remembered here, it is as "Veterans Day:" a day of honor and remembrance for all veterans past and present. That said, the (US) American people have a history of responding to any attack on our home soil with fanatical zeal. I imagine that the very fact Earth was struck would be enough to get us to shift to war footing and support any outrage. We may not be the industrial giant we were, but we definitely know how to mobilize a fresh force with rapid speed.
It wouldn't take much to rally the US to the cause, sure. But there's a lot of our boys and girls in uniform that would have to be actively held back until a proper plan could be made. Not to mention a lot of those who had previously served, who might or might not wait for the DoD to accept them back on active duty before doing something.
November 11 may not hold the same significance to the US as it does to those countries of the Commonwealth, but you can be sure that our military would see an attack happening on our Veterans' Day as just as much of an affront. The Dni done fucked up, royally.
This pisses on the whole point of Armistice day. Armistice day is about never forgetting the horrors of war and never repeating them. These humans forgot the horrors of war, and chose to repeat them.

Thus, most of the world does not celebrate 'Remembrance Day', though there typically are national analogues - but usually not on that date.
Remembrance Day (or Armistice Day in the US) is held on Nov 11 to honour those passed in WW1, with Commonwealth countries observing a minute of silence at 11am (when hostilities ended).
Well this is not historically accurate. If there were breaks was up to either. Side and prior agreements. Many commanders throughout history did not do so!
As far as I'm aware, it's only the Anglosphere and a few European nations that celebrate Remembrance Day/Poppy Day or a similar holiday at that date. There are national analogues, but I'd wager few on the same date and, importantly, likely not with the same cultural gravitas that it holds for the US/UK/FR, for example. Thus, the Dni are probably getting their asses kicked by *only 6-ish percent of humanity* (that's the extent of the Anglosphere, as a percent of world population as per wiki data).

You misunderstand. If you uplift a species by trying to teach them and let their brains grow, they're just going to see us as gods. At best they would end up being some sort of slave species. After all, that's how dogs came to be in the first place. By wolves surrendering their pride for some scraps of food and warmth in the presence of much greater hunters.
@@gentlerain8537 Yeah I get it race, not necessarily sentient.
Mankind and canines have been intertwined since *well before* the dawn of civilization. Evidence reveals that the domestication of canines began when wolves started to cohabitate with man 33,000 years ago. The first known complex civilization started only 5-6 thousand years ago.

That always surprise me even if you don’t have remembrance day would at least expect you to have some Day or holiday to remember the fallen soldiers
@@anthonypreston8355 remembering the fallen soldiers has a bit of an odd taste if you're from a former central/axis power :P and other places seem to have some kind of national-day with a somewhat similar idea. I actually find a day to "remember the fallen soldiers" rather odd
Not by that name anyway. That's Veteran's Day for us Yanks, and Armestice Day for the French.
That being said, in America many veterans groups do give out Poppies, or artificial poppy flowers in remembrance.
it's more like America commemorates veterans on that day and so it didn't really catch on over here

Now I need to listen to In Flanders Fields
Soon as I saw the Memorial Day at the end I knew they fucked up so bad, God himself is gonna need to save them.
I don't think God would lift a finger to save them for that.
God would just stare at them and say "if you don't leave here I will personally smite every single person of your species"
@@theenderdestruction2362 and if they don't then God would turn around, put on some sun glasses then with his back turnd smite them as the song "Cool Guys Don't Look at Explosions" starts to play.

Since most of Agro's videos are just text based, with nothing to actually watch, I frequently just listen to the vids on bluetooth audio in my car while driving back and forth to work.

Lest we forget
November 11 may not hold the same significance to the US as it does to those countries of the Commonwealth, but you can be sure that our military would see an attack happening on our Veterans' Day as just as much of an affront. The Dni done fucked up, royally.
This pisses on the whole point of Armistice day. Armistice day is about never forgetting the horrors of war and never repeating them. These humans forgot the horrors of war, and chose to repeat them.

what is poppy day?
Remembrance Day, a day to remember of all the Fallen Soldiers of the Great War, or WW1.
The Aliens decided to invade us at that specific day, hence why ALL of us Humans are HELLBENT on EXTERMINATING THEM.
@@CEBph5997 Eeeh... more like all of the Anglosphere. So, a good chunk of the world's military assets (~33% at last census), but not even close to a majority of the world's population (only 6%, if the wiki article on the Anglosphere is credible).
Thus, most of the world does not celebrate 'Remembrance Day', though there typically are national analogues - but usually not on that date.

Ok, so what's a "Poppy Day" and why I, as a Terran, should be mad about it?
Remembrance day for the end of World War 1 to honor the soldiers lost
Remembrance Day (or Armistice Day in the US) is held on Nov 11 to honour those passed in WW1, with Commonwealth countries observing a minute of silence at 11am (when hostilities ended).
What's poppy day?
A day of remembrance for all fallen soldiers in the commonwealth

As far as I'm aware, it's only the Anglosphere and a few European nations that celebrate Remembrance Day/Poppy Day or a similar holiday at that date. There are national analogues, but I'd wager few on the same date and, importantly, likely not with the same cultural gravitas that it holds for the US/UK/FR, for example.
Thus, the Dni are probably getting their asses kicked by *only 6-ish percent of humanity* (that's the extent of the Anglosphere, as a percent of world population as per wiki data).

Remembrance Day (Poppy Day and Armistice/Veterans Day in the US) is observed by Commonwealth and other countries on November 11 to honour those lost in WW1. It is the day featured in this story.
Memorial Day is a US national holiday observed on the last Monday of May to honour those who died while serving in the US armed forces. Bit like Australia and NZ's ANZAC Day.
