i think what makes Luke such a wonderful character is his Magnus Opus: Luke's New Friend. in the Episode, he befriends a deer and he decides to keep it but his friends told him that a deer would'nt live at the quarry because it's too loud. so he then decided to take the deer to his rightful place at Ulstead Castle......to sad but happy tears. God would be blessed with what Luke did at the end because of the lesson of: If you love something, set it free. and THAT is how you pull off such a great lesson to children. NOTE: and a great detail i love after Luke set the deer free to stay with his mom, His DRIVER actually gave him a " it's all right, you did the right thing". That is wholesome to see.
The interesting thing with Luke is that he quite literally goes from introvert to extrovert. When he was around random people & engines, he scampers & hides - which I can relate to at times. & then when he’s found & welcomes with open arms, as we see in the switch, Luke embraces himself with the crowdedness of the quarry, becoming very hands on & carefree about the way he looks. If you hate Luke, you’ve got issues coz he’s one of the most lovable & relatable characters from Thomas ever to exist.
So Luke is an Ambvert, he talk to people or engines he knows while being shy around new faces, it's kinda funny how everyone forgot Ambverts so often much. 😅
Being an Irish person, I have a lot of appreciation for Luke’s he’s definitely one of my favourite cgi characters. And it was cool to learn that Adam is Irish too.
I actually learned of Luke through finding a Wooden Railway toy of him at the Railroad Museum I was working at during the time. It had been a long time since I’d actually watched Thomas at that point, and this was quite a few years back now, so I have seen the CGI series since then. Though if it were any other character I probably wouldn’t have looked twice, the fact that I share a name with a Thomas character was awesome to me, so I bought it (It had been in the gift shop.) and that was one of the reasons I started to watch Thomas again, specifically checking out CGI Thomas.
I also love that people in the Fandom have done stories with him too. Like NWR1991 story; The Beetles or my personal favourite Narrow Gauge Horror of the Rails story: Inner Demon
Luke deserves some more love and have more roles and appearances in the show like interacting with Percy (which I wished it would happen), if Duke returns, interact with him and being taught by him and help out on the Skarloey Railway.
Luke, he is a great character. Lots of potential. Even my OC’s would appreciate him, especially my Narrow Gauge OC’s because Luke is Narrow Gauge like them.

Hiro first appeared in Hero of the rails and got multiple starring episodes about him and even appeared in the reboot somehow. I guess it simply comes down to who has more screen time, and how much those appearances add to the characters, and maybe if Luke consistently got a leading role each season he could’ve been a fan-favorite! Maybe this video can give Luke more attention in the fandom!
