Drinking my morning tea, listening to Dan and planning my day ahead thinking how much fun can I have today.... I have to tell my body let go! Cos my shoulders are always alert and up to my ears 😩

11 yrs with Fibromyalgia & CFS with Hypothyroidism and Interstitial cystitis. This may be a ray of hope in an otherwise tough existance with a worrying future ( health wise ). Thank you so much.

Tessa I beat IC after 5 years of doctors visits and pain NOW 100% no problems going on like 5 years now zero IC pain. Believe me! By nature I am an engineer who spends his day looking for root cause problems that I can see. Fortunately this is not the case. If you need to hear my story feel free to message me. I had an event and am extremely motivated indiviual like every other profile of this mind body syndrom.
Heres some things that help me believe this.
      1) Does your pain mostly creep up when your mind isnt occupied..if your at a concert, at the gym, busy doing something it doesnt bother you but as soon as you have a moment of silence BOOM heres a zap, pain etc.
      2) Have you noticed that the more you look into a solution the worse it gets and or the magically the more symptoms you get (because you read about them!!)?
      3) Does your brain feel just totally clouded and almost beating when you get into this modes? Its a sign.
Lightbulb moment for me was when I l was at a concert for 6 hours and realized I had zero pain the entire time because I was too busy enjoying my self. Then on the car ride home as soon as I had a moment to think about it I started feeling pain again. I got so frustrated I was like OMG just F*** off. When I did that I had a chill run down my entire body and I had no pain the whole day. This was the first time I talked to my brain and then I made the connection.
      Quick tips.
      1) Ignore it
      2) Laugh at it tell it to F off like I did (only at first)
      3) Try your very best to not let any of it phase you ultimately just need to forget it about it in the long run but that will be a bit hard at first.
The journaling and stuff never really did much for me but perhaps you will find better success. My symptoms were very painful enough to keep me severly depressed for years. I am 100% better. PROMISE.

The main goal is to get out of sympathetic fight or flight and into parasympathetic Rest and Relax as much as we Can. I have been and am still my own worst enemy. My perfectionistic ways and my religion have always got me agitated over something! Self-Soothing is the Best! I am going to focus on that above all else. Relax and Breathe. I get so tense..I actually stop breathing..even in the middle of the night..I wake up in panic. EveryBody..don’t give up!

Thank You. Yes..I have discovered that. Religion really pulled me down for most of my life..but Jesus is Restoring me.

That makes sense. I think mine is definitely both (repressed emotions and a reaction from the fear of the chronic illness).

Likely the repressed emotions that started it. The fear, focus and anxiety about the symptoms are what keeps them persistent.

Doesn't it matter a little bit? If I agree with Dr Clarke and it is a reaction to stress and hyperactive nervous system, won't kicking up a bunch of emotions further wind me up if I'm trying to calm down?

I'm not a big fan of going back in time and dredging up old trauma. But it does make sense to learn to feel current emotions as they occur. We don't want to continue to resist emotions so they accumulate.

idk y my body just cant seem to soothe enough to let go of tms symptoms, i soothe myself all the time, n if pain comes up i ask myself what do i feel with the zero pain now approach n the pain never comes nowadays, could it be that im focusing on my symptoms so much they wont let go?

Your body isn't involved. Your brain is creating the symptoms. We need to soothe the brain. Perceived danger is the cause. Safety is the solution.
