    All looking good so far Tony. The underpass and the hand rail, wow!! Using the coaches and a pencil, like a spirograph, for platform edges, is a stroke of genius too. I shouldnt be surprised, given the work we see you do but you always do. Thank you for sharing. I eagerly anticipate the next installment.

    Tony, I'm new to your channel thanks to UA-cam's algorithm. I came in on part 4 of the rebuild, then backtracked to the start of the playlist for the rebuild.
    Sir, I am picking my jaw up off the floor, repeatedly, over the effects you are pulling off with painted paper. I've been in the hobby for four decades, but here in the States, we tend to use plastic sheets, or laser inscribed wood for such detailed purposes (usually factories, our stations usually having all the personality of a wet paper sack).
    I am inspired to experiment! ❤
    Great work!

      Thank you for joining us. and thank you for your kind words. the thing is with model railways you have to use the run of the mill products. but i have used plastic sheets when it is necessary when you need strength and stability. you can make anything from anything. its all about what is achievable and is it possible. take care my friend. cheer's Tony.

    Its funny how your memory mixes things up when you get older
    I thought the entrance to Tyne Dock was at square where the Trolley bus turned round at Stanhope road and Bolden Lane but then you had a photograph of the entrance which brought it all flooding back Tony was right again.
    It was always dirty and grubby down that road and you had all the rails going to the staithes as well going overhead
    .The station is coming along nicely and Thanks once more I have learnt a few more tricks
    for when I start my build.
    Last week end my internet provider decided to install a upgrade so couldnt use the internet for three days the joys of living in Thailand

    Hi Tony, another great video. I really liked your method of making out the platform edges, I did the same but mistakenly forgot to add the 2mm card to make the overhang, I was so close! Your idea of using a thin strip of card to make the edge itself is really good, I never thought of that, instead I tried to cut the platform top 2mm wider than the sides on a curve. I got it in the end but it wasn't as refined as your method. Look forward to next weeks instalment, all the best Dave.

    • @TONYNORTHEASTERN

    Hi Tony. Great progress on the platform build. With regards to the surface, from the photos I have, it looks like a (badly laid) tarmacadam or asphalt surface. One way to achieve that is using fine wet and dry paper as a surface which can then be weathered using more wet and dry rubbed over the surface of what was laid. You could maybe take a look at what is available and experiment on the bench to see if the look is acceptable to you. Wet & dry is also good for road surfaces too. Worth a look, even if it does not suit this application. I’ve sent you an email with an image of my latest acquisition and a review of progress on my proposed HO scale layout. Looking forward to seeing the station buildings being created. Have a nice weekend and my best to Mrs T too. Now back to developing plan views from my layout Design Specification, in 3rd PlanIT. Best, Jason.

    Good morning Tony, they've worked out perfectly, and look so good. The detail on the subway is just right won't be long before it's busy with passengers. I do like your idea of using mdf for platforms. When I did my one I used metcalf which is OK but but you can always see the joints, as Eric Morecombe would say. Hmm though for the future! Poor Grace, its more than a repaint that she was expecting, but i get the feeling she'll be delighted with the final result. I must admit I'm in the doldrums with our layout at the moment, not sure where we're going with it. I need some new ideas and time. How can a almost retired person only works 2 days a week say he's struggling with time?? Anyway enough moaning what you're doing is fantastic, its exciting and you're modeling a theme that's relevant to you. You should be proud of everything you've achieved. Tony your skills are second to none and I'm excited for the future for you. Anne and I are hoping to see the Paignton lot over Easter, and I expect we may have them next week while on school break. Look after yourselfs. See you next time Eddy Anne xxx

    I dare say the vikar's wife will assume that she can use some of the platform as an overflow to hand some of her washing, and will be getting a bit grouchy about having to pop down to Woolworths to get something to keep the vicar occupied for the weekend, and possibly encounter the Green Menace slipping away into the shadows of Pig Lane. Still perhaps Mrs T's tasty homemade treacle toffee will be a suitable remidy, if the vicar can negotiate Bruceforthsythes second-hand false teeth.

Now a new platform has been found with steps that go underground. Soon, trains will run around, creating a lot of sound and I will not have to get the bus into town. Martin. (Thailand)

    Hi Tony... i guess its a bit too late now but personally i would have one side as a gentle curve and the other more pronunced.. a bit like a banana in a graceful shallow curve just like the origional track plan, but now you are committed.... i hope it works out ok....

      Good morning David. thank you for commenting. i can see your point. i think i would have gone for that but that would have eaten into the space where the main line is just opposite. i think its a small compromise. but we shall see when the station is completed. many thank again Tony.

    Could you add mini/mic LED lights in the lanterns at the top of the subway stairs ?
    I cannot wait to see how the rest of the re-build goes. Great job so far !

      Good morning Tim. i wish i had thought of that before, but i have ordered some ceiling lights for the booking hall area. me too as there is a lot to do before i thin about doing the buildings. mind you i am already trying to work out the how's and whys. have a great weekend. cheer's for now Tony.

      @@TONYNORTHEASTERN Perhaps you can still manage to get LEDs in the lanterns. With you're incredibly imaginative ways of resolving challenges, I am sure you can find a way. As they say, where there's a will, there's a way...

    Don’t the edges of the platform have a white line painted on them Tony? Your handrails are a master class , just wonderful. John

      Good morning John. thank you for commenting. some stations have the white edge on the platforms. in some of the photos of Tyne dock. some photos don't have and some do. the white lines first appeared during the second world war. as there was so many accidents during the black outs. but yes its a preference to add them or not. i am undecided at the moment. thanks again for your thoughts. cheer's for now Tony.

    So enjoy watching you create Tony. The underpass is so fine and as for your handy box of bits, well, it always delivers. The pointy hands an inspiration. Cheers! p.s. did you get to Lymington? Unfortunately work stopped me.

      Good evening David, no unfortunately i did not make Lymington either. the handy box has thrown up some lovely gems. otherwise i would have just used some fencing. so far so good. many thanks for commenting. all the best Tony.

    Hi Tony, you set out the edge of the platform using a GWR wagon + card layers but you use the longer, Thompson, coaches in trains. Obviously the method works. Can you go through why you didn't do the setting out using a Thompson coach?

    • @TONYNORTHEASTERN
      @TONYNORTHEASTERN  3 місяці тому +1

      Good evening Andrew. at the time i did not think to use them. but yes i should have used the longer coaches. as you have seen the clearance is very tight 2mm either side. so care must be taken when i screw the platform down permanently. well spotted. many thanks for commenting. cheer's Tony.

    Nice video Tony. Platform is looking good so far and those steps and handrail for the subway are amazing. What do you plan to use for the top surface of the platform? Looking forward to the next one. - Nicholas.

    Thanks for this, Tony, but there's one question... What was that Citadel product that you used for weathering the stone work? I repayed several times but couldn't make out the name.

      Hello Ken, thank you for commenting.
      The Citadel paint name is Nun Oil. its a very light black grime. it be damaging to the card. so use it very lightly. i hope this helps my friend. have a great weekend. Tony.

    Tony does the 3 by 2 card strip overhang the mfd edge, it’s not clear on my small screen?

    • @TONYNORTHEASTERN
      @TONYNORTHEASTERN  3 місяці тому +1

      Good morning. most station platforms have the overhang lip. some are even less pronounced. there are plenty of photos which show the edges that i have made. many thanks again. interesting question. cheer;s for now Tony.
