  • Willard Spur- August 2014- Super Shallow. 7hp longtail, 2 guys, sustained speed of 14.5-15.2 mph.
    We consider the Willard Spur of the Great Salt Lake our nemesis. The ultra low water level of the Spur in late summer (especially on a dry year like this) and the super abrasive mud make it a challenge to run with a mud motor. The mud on the lake is so abrasive we have heard of guys destroying props in half an hour and we've done it ourselves. Running the mud when it gets shallow is not an option if you value your prop at all. Our goal was to run out and back using only the water on top of the mud. This is our return trip to the boat ramp.

    I have a 7hp longtail on my 1436 and I'm only getting around 8 mph with 2 people... It's a predator motor from harbor freight. Any inexpensive suggestions to bump it up to your speed?

      One of the best parts about the predator engines is there are a lot of aftermarket parts available. Google NR Racing. They offer various aftermarket parts and performance kits for predator engines.

    thats pretty good speed for a 7hp I'm thinking about putting the 13hp predator on a 14ft jon boat and i was worried about it not being enough power. but if you can get that speed out of a 7 than the 13 should be enough

      Don't base your speed on our video alone. Hp is only a small part of the equation on how well a mud motor will run. Unfortunately hp and speed don't scale like you might think. We routinely pass or keep up with long tails with 3 times our hp. Look for videos of the exact rig you are going to run in order to get a more accurate idea of what a given motor is likely to be capable of. Every company builds their mud motors a little different and some people build their own. The different construction methods and designs result in varying levels of performance, durability, and speed. The hull that you run the motor on has an impact on performance, too.

    What is all done to that motor besides the intake and header pipe ?

    • @AdrenAddictionTV
      @AdrenAddictionTV  9 років тому

      The exhaust and header is all. It's stock besides that. The governor is still fully functional and everything.

    I have a 20hp longtail godevil , and it loses power , does the capivation plate needs adjusting, or is there another problem .
    I had it serviced , new plugs , cleaned carbeurator.
    Just wondering why it loses power?

    • @AdrenAddictionTV
      @AdrenAddictionTV  4 роки тому

      Can you tell us a little more about it? Is there a certain time it loses power? On a hot day? A cold day? After a certain time of driving? Carrying a heavy load? Etc?

    i would like to know if you modified this motor. i mean . if you took the governor out???

    • @AdrenAddictionTV
      @AdrenAddictionTV  8 років тому

      No. We did not take the governor out. The governor is still at it's original factory setting.

    Are you using a surface drive prop? Or what kind of prop is it?

    • @AdrenAddictionTV
      @AdrenAddictionTV  9 років тому

      The prop is a Ron Hill super weedless. Most american style longtails use super weedless props. If you spend some time searching UA-cam you will find other guys that run their longtail at/near the surface.

    • @AdrenAddictionTV
      @AdrenAddictionTV  9 років тому

      It's not a kit mud motor. It's a Mud Buddy. Bought it as a complete mud motor.

      @@miguellovino7679 The lower unit seals and bearing went out and the seals destroyed the shaft. So the only way to fix it was to replace the seals, bearing, and drive shaft. Way too expensive and too much hassle to have to do that every two years. That's why we went the custom build option. Those have lasted a really long time. We don't have one, but the SWOMP longtails from Backwater Inc seem like the best option for a longtail right now. Everyone seems to really like them.
