Superman taking out World Forger was one of the most hype moments ever.
That moment was easily top 5 for me. And the whole saga up to that moment was beautiful.
Everything after though was dog shit lmao. Heavy Metal and Dark Crisis and so on. Idk what happened to the author he went from goated arcs back to back to suddenly really meh writing.
I think Superman taking out World Forger was the last mainline moment in DC I really liked.
Lmao ngl you’re right, I stuck with Scott Snyder’s JL comic until the end, and I tried reading the tie-ins involving his Metal and Crisis plans, but the moment Lex got hoed out of his position with Perpetua in favor of TBWL, I dropped DC. I hated that character and his concept and how they were utilizing him, he was just obnoxious and overly edgy.
Superboy Prime beating the shit out of the Darkest Knight and finally wrapping up his character arc was really nice. Probably the only good moment the Darkest Knight ever had. Should've ended there.

Honestly the fact goku pushed him to the point where he had to use his nova just to create some breathing room to do that is commendable. My only issue with that is isn’t Superman supposed to be completely powerless after using his nova?
This was such a cool and epic fight with such a wholesome ending. The story of these 3 is amazing. First one has Goku wanting to fight Superman and Klark just finds him annoying so he beats him. Then he uses the dragon balls in part 2 to fix all the destruction they caused and bring back Goku who got stronger and wants to fight again and Klark beats him again. Now in 3 Klark knows that they can destroy whatever and they can fix it with the dragon balls so now he’s just helping Goku train. It’s a way for Klark to go all out with his powers while also helping Goku get stronger

@@theboyofsteel528 Hey I didn't make the rules or these versions of Goku I just pointed out how they didn't include those versions when they are indeed Goku as all the characters (especially when all the characters in Jump Force are indeed the actual characters not just a kameo/guest)
If it says anything, a fair lot of Superman’s cartoon’s outside the comics felt like they downscaled him A LOT when you compare those to Goku
Besides that at least this ending is more character accurate
I feel like the reason Superman is currently so strong is because of just how long the comics have been going, they felt like they needed to give him some new sort of boost every so often otherwise people would just get bored and those boosts grew and grew over time.
@lukasruston8618 To be fair, I feel like that is almost any character in fiction, especially main characters. Despite Naruto being in my top 5 Shonen media, Naruto and Sasuke had insane power increases throughout the series because it went on for so long. They went from ninja barely able climb trees, to the two strongest beings in their universe and began to have Dragon Ball Z battles by the end and had arms blasted off with each others collision.
Don't even get me started on Superman TAS, they hoed Clark out to kryptonite.
They made kryptonite the be all end all for him just so Batman can show him up.

Reverse Flash can't die what so ever no matter what you hit him with, the most you would do to him is just stall him since he will regenerate from literally anything so fast that it didn't even look like he was even hit. The longest Reverse Flash was "killed" was about ten minutes, and that was with Dr. Manhattan turning him to ash. Even trying to erase him from the timeline or existence would not work, since he purposely made himself a paradox that will forever exist in and out throughout the timeline at all points. This isn't even counting him being able to casually reset timelines and universes whenever he could, though he mainly does that just to piss off Barry and Wally.
The Darkest Knight though? That guy one shotted Perpetua who created the entire multiverse of DC, and that includes Earth 33 which is basically our world where the writers are. It took Wonder Woman amped with the Speed Force, Zeus, Mr. Mzypik, and dipped in the sun just to fight equally with him.
Not the MOST broken but hes up there, yeah.

What if I said I'm a Dragon Ball fan and I'm not upset at all? Goku is a character that's mandated by his own plot not to be the strongest there is.... And yet I'm supposed to believe he can beat Superman? Someone who has way more continuity than him.
I learned how powerful Superman was way before death battle even put this into account. Marvel and DC fans used to debate this all the time, and I had to learn Superman's overpowered nature the hard way.
And considering Superman is way more older than all of us in real life. There are STILL obscure abilities Superman has that we are not aware of.
Unless you are a cosmic deity that represents a company like the Presence (DC) or One above all (Marvel) ..... You're not beating Superman.

a pop culture icon, known for being the strongest with multiple authors, multiple timelines and continuities and 80 years of feats and power creep to back him up. i like goku as much as the next guy, but there is a reason comic characters tend to come out on top

@b__w_4565 No, it's because Superman has been written so many times in so many different ways, just like most other comic book characters, that it is harder to find abilities that he doesn't have. There are versions of Superman that are smarter than Batman and versions of Batman that beat Superman for some reason. Saying "plot" implies that every writer who has ever written Superman goes back and checks with all the other Superman writers every time he does something like DC comics and other sources are just made for Superman. Comic stories and, by extension, stories that include Superman almost never follow the same "plot" as the last because that's what makes them unique. The multiverse in DC comics is a writing ploy to include every iteration of every character to make them all intertwine when they want them to so they can write even more stories. The best way to put this is the simple fact that no comic book character has any "signature move." They have iconic phrases but they never have the same character or abilities. Superman technically should've won on the first punch if they're using "all" his continuities because it'd also include evil Supermen and Supermen who are entirely immortal and Supermen who "exist irl" etc. The fight is fun to watch but pretending a character meant for a stand-alone story would be "stronger" than a character with decades of different writers is pure delusion. Goku losing to Superman doesn't mean "Dragon Ball is written worse than DC Comics" or vice versa. It's just what would happen if the two fought.

Crazy thing is they used the current main timeline/cannon superman. The current main superman is a fusion of post crisis, new 52, rebirth and infinite frontier due to doc Manhattan fucking with the multiverse. So all the feats from all 4 eras apply to current cannon superman, dc said so themselves. This was all current, modern superman. That being said, how tf is the main superman so broken when parellel versions of him like injustice are so ass. Main superman can literally eat kryptonite, but his parallel versions get cucked when exposed to the tiniest pieces of the shit. A recent example is the Godzilla crossover, the parallel superman there got knocked on his ass by goji.

I don't care about the fight animation or who won or lost. I just love the lovable dork energy that both Goku and Supes excude with their facial expressions and lines of dialogue.
You can like Manga over Superhero Comics bc it doesn’t appeal to you, that’s fine, but hating on it and misunderstanding what they’re about is different. Superhero comics are not Battle Shounen Manga where in those stories usually it’s about growing stronger, overcoming obstacles, and fighting the next big bad, which Goku is exemplary of this. In Superman’s case, it’s not about getting stronger and being the strongest, it’s about his humility and what he does with his powers, which is why writers don’t rlly care about powerscaling like most Shounen heads and DB fans. That’s why Superman will always win. He’ll keep being made stronger by writers, not because they’re trying to win a dick measuring contest, but to show what Superman is all about and his immense humility and love for humanity.
Honestly, I think that’s why Batman appeals more to a lot of Shounen fans, because there is a sizeable amount of stories where it’s about him overcoming obstacles and fighting big bads through training, hard work, and tactics. They’ll eat it up.
Personally, I prefer Superman cuz I just wanna read stories about a guy that’ll give me hope and show me the best of humanity, saving, helping, and defending ppl with his immense power.

Comic fans literally and mostly also CARE A TON about powerscaling, in every freaking powerscaling top you see Superman stans trying to put him above everyone, specially Goku, or Saitama, Flash stans telling how he can speedblitz anyone, etc
Also if the comic writers "don't care about power levels" why are they obsessed with adding the most cheaply written and ridiculous feats to Superman or Flash for example? On the contrary with Goku, he's far from being the most powerful of his verse... Doesn't that sound completely the contrary with what you said? Literally the ones who seem to care more about powerscaling It's the comic writers themselves...

What you described Superman with about his humility and what he does with his powers can literally be say about Goku too, but no, let's just put him like (as you worded) just some formulaic shonen allegory of becoming stronger and fighting the next big bad (as if Superhero comics werent this formulaic too), what's funnier is that those more complex themes and aspects apply even more for Goku, cause he's defeated his main enemies not because he got the cheapest feat any kindergardener on the playground would think about, but because of all of these examples against the main villains/antagonists: lost to Vegeta and needed help from Krillin and Gohan, still let Vegeta go; felt sorry for Frieza and let him go until Frieza got dense; let his son defeat Cell; had to use the Genkidama against Majin Buu bringing the energy of all people on Earth to finish him; lost against Black and Zamasu and needed outside help from Trunks and Zeno; needed Frieza and 17 to defeat Jiren.
All of that gives messages about humility (from Goku himself who comes from a very egotistical race), companionship, trust in others even when being the protagonist and being that overpowered, instead of becoming a laughable exagerated cheap god cause a comic authors say so.
You go make the comparison.
And that's just talking about Goku... One of the blandest shonen protagonists by comparison... Imagine the rest.
I would also be interested in them doing one about Superman versus Saitama (One Punch Man).
Spoiler alert Superman wins, even if you take into account saitama evolving it would take literal hours for saitama to fully catch up to super man who has obliterated an infinite multiverse (in one punch)

Personally, I don't think it's about "comics are always bad" and "mangas are always good" (althout I agree that lately that's generally the case), it's more about the fact that it's really easy to write a "strong" character, but it's WAY more difficult to write a compelling one.
In fact, the more invincible a character is, the more the story should probably not be about "who is the strongest", because there would be no point.
When they said they're using Heroes Goku and didn't bring up Xeno Goku and Demigra affecting the real world (the equivalent of our world) with their power and CC Goku is leagues above Xeno Goku at that point, I knew it was just another Superman jerkfest. Either way, the fight was entertaining at the very least. Hopefully, they dont make a fourth one lol.

What I will say is that Goku is always growing in power and skills. Saiyans get stronger after every battle as a plot device, but superman's abilities have for the most part remained the same for the past few decades or so and only tend to increase in single story arcs spread much further apart. There is an entirely different progression and powerscale between american vs japanese comics...these characters usually don't get huge power ups and keep them, they are one offs, side stories, they lose them by the end of the arc, etc.... otherwise superman would just fly into a bunch of suns every major main cont battle and be a god. Goku's progression is linear and will advance as long as there is Dragon Ball. Goku beating Superman is an eventuality, but nothing in his kit rn suggests that he can reliably win in any real measurable way. Personally I think "composite" battles are stupid. Some feats are conditional/situational at best, and can also be inconsistent to other composite feats.
Superman is the exception to the rule.
He keeps his power but always suppresses himself subconsciously when there is no real cosmic threat.
Look at it like Goku needing to power up to truly unlock his true power, but with Superman, it's not a transformation or form, he just decides to go full power and basically becomes infinitely stronger.
Also, they didn't use composite Superman, only the canon mainline Superman.
There's a Dr. Manhattan Superman among others, had they truly composited him, it would've been a worse stomp.
As for the notion that Goku will eventually catch up, I doubt it.
The cosmology is nowhere near as vast as the DC omniverse, so unless they expand the verse itself, it's unlikely Goku would have a feat that matches Superman.

This to me feels more like a real passion project that fully respects both characters rather than them trying to pay the bills with a fight they know will get views. I really like the ending with them just chilling after breaking the universe. Something I initially felt "eh" to really turned me around to enjoying it.

I like how Wes just finds the humor in Dragon Ball characters never catching a break in Death Battle. He doesn't get mad exactly. He just laughs at it. Also Goku with Haki would make him just as broken as Superman. He might have won this fight if he had Observation, Amourment and Conquerors Haki. Technically MUI does the same thing as Observation Haki but, not really.
To be fair, Vegeta vs Thor wasn't the last Dragon ball fight. Frieza vs Megatron was.

I think the most annoying thing for me, despite the fact that I agree with the outcome (I mean supes was basically built to be unbeatable) is that they consistently throughout all three battles get wishy-washy with the power scaling for Goku. For example, they use the power of Goku x Beerus being capable of destroying a universe 1505x our own but neglect the fact that that is Goku's current base power and should scale it for his current max but at the same time they have acknowledged his speed being appropriate to his current power. I still think it's virtually impossible for Goku to win I wish they would at least be consistent in how they portray him.

I think this DB episode comes down to just the weebs who think manga is better vs the people who've been around both comics and manga for so long they understand the character of superman works very differently to the way Japan and Asia at large builds its characters in a more microcosm or macro-spiritual power based form.
You're never gonna beat superman, the people who think they can need to relax and actually break down how Goku works, he draws his power from Ki, his genetics, his own will to surpass himself and whatever other story bullshit is around.
Superman was built as an exemplar in a time of great need for heroes, legends and conquerors of mad power and evil run amuck and his power needed to be limitless as per the name Superman. This is the guy who in the golden age blew up a universe by sneezing and in the silver age blew the crap out of his enemies with rainbows while even when he went into the bronze age more tame they still had him beat universe ending threats all the way up until crisis in the 80s when they rebooted him.
