RRR being so highly reviewed by both Avaryl and Andrew makes me very happy. There are many excellent movies coming out of the South Indian film industry and I hope you guys review some more of them!!
Now that nominations are out I’m really rooting for Michelle yeoh and ke huy quan. Especially ke Huy quan since his story of his career is so important. Also I recommend everyone watch the clips of him and Brendan Fraser because it’s so sweet and adorable and also an encino man retro review needs to happen!
Oh boy, I’m excited/scared to see you guys talk about Glass Onion. I personally loved it and it flew by, but like you guys said, it’s all subjective. I’ve got some great recommendations now and I love y’all for it. Cheers! 🥂
@@iain9757 I can see that, but it still feels like a continuous flow, like it belongs in the same ‘verse, just like they were experimenting with different trends in the medium of murder mystery stories.
@@DarthSyric I mean that was the point, I think the more Murder Mystery we get the more we will look at Glass Onion. As someone who didn’t watch any trailers & only saw the promo images I thought they were gonna be on a boat for most of it like Death on the Nile
I’m so glad Avaryl made a best of the worst list, I was just thinking about how much I needed that. And because I just rewatched it, I’m begging for a retro review of Dirty Dancing because….”of course”
People always talk about how Michael Bay thinks his audience is stupid, but I feel James Cameron sees moviegoers the exact same way. Avatar 2 is a beautiful looking movie but the writing seems to be made at a 3rd grade reading level.
I love Letterboxd, it's fantastic. Also if you both are using the same MoveBitches account could each review be identified with who rated and reviewed it? Just an idea haha
I love following you guys on Letterboxd especially because of Woman in Black, also the obscure black and white movies because they are often a lot better than most of the stuff nowadays
Appreciate all your work and know your bread and butter is Drag Race but I love a movie review. Particularly the ones where you get a bit unhinged haha). My friends and I literally quote, "Oh no, I'm naked in the woods again", "hot with the right hair", "we have to have Matthias" and "Bingo bango here's my vagina" Favourite things are, Avaryl and Andrew watch trailers for the movies they don't plan to watch (Marvel, etc. especially) and predict the plot. Retro reviews (obviously) I also particularly enjoyed the occasions when one person has seen the movie and has to explain it to the other who hasn't (IT, Rise of Skywalker, etc).
Real creep creep weirdo has entered my daily lexicon as well as hot with the right hair. I think but we have to have matthias to myself A LOT. Oh and yummy beefy daddy.
@@clara-nt9rx It's from the TERRIBLE (the movie, not the review) 2017 Mummy review. They're imagining Fassy as the Wolfman in the Monster Mash Universe. Would watch.
I really agree with all of your picks for worst movies. Your "controversial" choices felt validating to me! I wonder if you saw Confess Fletch. Bad comedies can be so painful to sit through and that was my experience with that one. 5. Black Adam 4. Don't Worry Darling 3. Crimes of the Future 2. Morbius 1. Confess Fletch
It's been so interesting to see how enthusiastic people have been about RRR. I watched it on Netflix in Hindi and I think I'm going to go see it in the theater in the original language when they bring it back out because for me it seemed fun but kind of silly and the pacing dragged for me in certain parts. My favorite movie of the year was easily Women Talking. That was the first movie since 2019 that I rated five stars on letterboxd. Also in my top five are A Love Song, Everything Everywhere, Marcel the Shell, and Great Freedom
Everything everywhere all at once is probably my favorite movie of all time. I feel like I really i have rewatched it three times and it just gets better with each rewatch
Definitely agree with Andrew, Triangle of Sadness seemed like it had way more to say than The Menu! I agree that it was slightly too long though. Can't wait for your full review!
Oh boy... I feel like Cate Blanchett v. Michelle Yeoh for Best Actress is both the hottest subject of debate and also the most likely to result in hurt feelings among my friend group. I don't know how we're going to survive until the end of March without tearing each other apart. (At least once the Oscars happen we'll all be able to be equally upset when they do something stupid like give the award to Michelle Williams.)
Okay, now that the nominations are actually out, I realize that the only way to avoid hurt feelings from the Best Actress race is for Ana de Armas to win for Blonde. Only a win that wild & ridiculous will be enough to remind us all that the Oscars are pointless and there's no reason to take them seriously.
