What is giving you forward momentum in the beginning of the video going up the hill? And are you able to control how fast you're going on the track?

He has to pull himself up by grabbing a rope that was just out of view and pretty much climbing the entire time. Tiring ride!

from when I rode it a couple years ago there was a control stick thing that you needed to push up to go fast, and pull back to go slower. So he used that to go up and you can control your speed
