  • The indoor grow room continues to hang on through the many challenges of Michigan winters. I continue to learn what works and what doesn't and here is my biggest problem and a few solutions.

The coffee is a bush, the olive is a tree😊...btw, you can probably locate a long pole shade opener for those upper windows

Watercress would love those conditions. You will have a waterfall of it. It's supposed to be the most nutritional leafy green. The stuff is ultra tough.

The avocado is self pollinating but requires a pollinator such as bees. Or you can manually do it.

Looks like it can be a good system for leafy greens. But plants like tomatoes and peppers need more soil and lighting and space.

My grandparents in Lansing had 4 olive trees. They grew like crazy but never had fruit.
Maybe you can clamp a light bar to that post near the grow wall.
I've seen 10 footbtall stepladders that might help you with the shades. I don't know if anyone makes taller ones. I wouldn't try an extension ladder if I were you, even though a 16-footer isn't too pricey.

This was fun. You have so many talents. Do the pets like to hang out around the plants in the winter?

Carefully now to many grow lights and you'll get raided. Lol thanks for the update . It kinda feels herbs will do the best there and not peppers or things like that.

I wonder... if you turned off all the lights in the Atrium, would a UV flashlight be helpful in locating your frog friend? I dunno, do frogs flouresce like scorpions?

You're right and that you need a lot more lights for your grow wall and ceramic metal halide are the best while using similar amount of electricity as your LEDs but plan on having a big budget for electricity. And you'll need a c and dehumidifier a heat pump is most efficient and does some dehumidifying

For grow lights you really need 10 watts per square foot give or take a couple for full sun vs part shade.

You need about 20 watts per square foot. It looks like your setup is about 6ft wide by 9ft tall, 54 sqft. so you need about 1080 watts, evenly distributed. Regular LEDs are not ideal, you really need full spectrum grow lights if you want to get that wall really pumping. Maybe you could mount a piano hinge on that wall jutting out on the left and build some kind of square frame to suspend the grow lights. Attach a wheel to the bottom right of the light assembly, then you can swing out the whole assembly like a door when it's harvest time.

@@SSLFamilyDad I'm genuinely amazed. And that was from the Jungle Site?
I might have to get one and see how it does here in sunny Southern Commiefornia. 🤔
