I had to re-upload this video due to copyright issues. I hope you enjoy my Barbie Movie Reaction. It was silly yet emotional near the end. Anyone who says Barbie is anti-men either hasn't seen it or totally missed the point. Everything about this movie screams "Be secure in yourself! Love yourself for who you are, not who you think you're 'supposed to be'". That's pro woman, pro man, and pro human all the way!
Exactly. I don't understand how people miss that a big part of the story is about how isolated and unappreciated the Kens are, and about validating their feelings.
Toxic masculinity is terrible for everyone including the men, i saw someone else say that the movie is actually pro-men in the form of Alan who is secure in himself and supports and protects his friends ❤️
I think one key difference between what Barbie was doing to Ken before she had her thoughts of death and what Ken did to Barbie after discovering Patriarchy was maliciousness. Barbie was thoughless and inconsiderate to his feelings, but ultimately she was not trying to cause him pain and he didn't express his feelings to her clearly when he was hurt so she wasn't aware. You can argue that she could have been more perceptive, but that literally wasn't a trait she was given she had to learn that when she learned how to become human. Ken did what he did to cause her pain as revenge. Maybe not at first, but he is clearly getting enjoyment out of and reveling in Barbie's pain when she's breaking down into tears in front of him. That's not how you treat someone you love. When Barbie has the realization that she caused Ken pain she feels remorse and doesn't want to hurt him further when they're enacting the plan to get Barbieland back from Kendom even after Ken did everything he did to her and her friends. Then after Ken breaks down in tears when the Barbies take their homes back, Barbie takes time to help Ken realize that he is Kenough when she honestly didn't owe him anything. People who actively try to cause you pain aren't owed your time or energy if you don't want to give it. Barbie was extremely kind and showed a lot of grace to Ken for no reason other than the desire to help someone become a healthier and more complete person. It didn't benefit her at all especially since she went to the real world at the end and didn't have to live near or see Ken ever again. 🤷🏼♀️
Everyone went in this movie expecting because it’s “Barbie” it must be just superficial fun, no one expected this smart, heartfelt and thoughtful film. The part that broke me and most viewers into tears is the clips of real mothers and daughters along with Billie’s song, those were clips provided by the crew of the film from their own family archives, Greta is a true inspirational genius for doing this. And Billie knew what she was doing writing this song she stated that every word in this song is exactly how she feels, what she didn’t realize or maybe does, is that those words are actually what every woman feels. I also really enjoyed Ken’s storyline, it excellently portrays how “lost men” can be so easily be mislead with the ideals of patriarchy and pushed towards the toxic masculinity pipeline, out of a missguided sense of finding any purpose, the type of men who revolve their entire identity around finding a woman to "complete them" end up resenting their dream women and blaming them for their own flaws. When in truth they were more than Kenough, they just needed to focus on their dreams and their own progress outside the scope of finding their Barbies. Nothing wrong with trying to find the partner of your dreams but your life shouldn’t revolve around the concept, it should be an extension of you, a choice you make to be there for your partner because you want to, not because a patriarchal society tells you it’s your sole purpose. This film is not any shape of form anti-men, if anything it's anti patriarchy. It shows that this idiotic patriarchy hurts everyone not just women. You can have “Dojo-Mojo Casa Houses” without destroying “DreamHouses” Thank you for a great reaction
Every Barbie (and Ken) in the movie were actually Barbies that were sold at some point. This includes Alan, Midge, Stacey, the dog, Sugar Daddy Ken, and Magic Earring Ken. And, fun fact, Barbies with flat feet are actually a part of the Fashionista Barbie line.
Things I noticed about the conflict in this movie: 1) Ken was the only Ken who had a problem with Barbieland initially, and that problem isn't that he doesn't get any respect, it's that Barbie isn't in love with him, which she doesn't owe him 2) Ken doesn't apologize for his near-coup. Barbie apologizes (again, her crime was not being in love with him), and he just tries to kiss her a couple times after basically doing January 6th, which fits with the feminist theme of the movie. "Everything is your fault"
That was also Dua doing the cameo as Mermaid Barbie, and Jon Cena was playing Merman Ken. I went into this movie hearing from people that Barbie and Ken were almost meant to stand in for pre-teens/teens, not full adults, and that really helped me get it, because especially with Ken's behavior, it could have gotten old REALLY quick.
I'm surprised how many don't seem to recognize that Sasha and her friends are the Bratz 🤭 Sasha's mom even called her Honey boo, that's Sasha's pet name
I always say this movie is anti-patriarchy, not anti-men. I think this movie shows really well how patriarchy is just about as anti-man as it is anti-woman, just in a different way. Cinema is another vehicle for art to inspire discussion and I think this movie does that SO WELL without losing its fun and wackiness.
some have said that the older woman at the bus stop was supposed to represent the daughter of the creator (Barbara) who barbie was created to be like. that’s why barbie looked at her like that and when she said ‘you are so beautiful’ she looked back at barbie and said ‘i know it’
Barbie looks so surprised and almost starts laughing when Ken says sublime because on every take, he would say something else and they just decided to use sublime. He was making up his own words.
He-man is men's image of the idealized male form, not women's. Most women arent into that giant pro wrestler bodybuilder look. Its a different experience than whats put on women. Both are bad, but i think its a little disingenuous to say theyre the same in kind and degree
It’s actually a perfect example of how patriarchy hurts both men and women. He-man (for the most part) isn’t a harmful ideal for men pushed by women, it’s a harmful ideal for men pushed by other men.
It's a shame some people dismiss this as anti-man. I mean the movie goes to great lengths to show us Ken's feelings and his journey to be seen and appreciated, and make a place for the Kens in Barbieland. If anything I think it's a critique of how we villainize young men for falling into misogynistic rhetoric when they don't feel like they have a place in the world.
really its the Ken movie, lets be real. The fact that when they were shooting on the beech and all the men and women ran over for Ryan's autograph and not Margot Robbie tells you everything.
Men and women share the same problems. Its just as hard being a man. That long as speech should have been made to make the point men feel just as pressured in this world. Be the strongest most masculine man but also cry during the notebook but not to many tears because women find that off putting. Hold the doors open but also you cant because that takes the womans power away. Pay for everything but never get to feel good about it because the womans money is all that matters she is a boss after all. Those are some real life examples. I think men feel useless and unseen in this world right now much jow barbie looks at ken "superfluous" is what she calls him. Thay speech should have been for men and women. Men and women have a lot of work to do. This isnt woke its making fun of everyone.

Copyright issues... Sure, coward. How conveniant that you deleted that pathetic comment 😂
I think that the older lady in the park represents Barbie starting to understand that beauty doesn’t have to be “perfect” like she thought.
And she is an award winning costume designer in real life. Oscar winner.

I don't even know what the Bratz are. :)
@@NewfieMovieReactions 😂 they were the new rivals of barbie, before all those monster high dolls etc 🤭 they came like some over 20 years ago
Those dolls with big lips weren’t as popular as Barbies. They were trendy in the 2000’s though.

Ruth, the woman in the secret room at Mattel is Ruth Handler. She invented Barbie.
Watched this movie for first time in the cinema! And I was in all pink clothes 😂😂😂
Yeah, when my Wife and daughters went to see it, they wore pink as well. :)
Same here, was at an exclusive preview where dressing in pink gave you a discount

“I’m here to see my gynecologist ”.
Girl you will not enjoy this and will want to go immediately back to Barbie land! 🤦🏼♀️ Lmfao!
It's not that bad lol
Funny how this movie made me realize how misogynist my favorite youtubers are.
Ken had no house, no car, no money and no job. Most girls never even had a Ken and if they did he is just an accessory or like trophy wife.
It's a shame some people dismiss this as anti-man. I mean the movie goes to great lengths to show us Ken's feelings and his journey to be seen and appreciated, and make a place for the Kens in Barbieland.

Great performances all around in the movie!
Its a fantastic movie!
The Goose was great in this. I hope he'll get oscar for this movie
Saw in theatre with my daughter. Excellence! 👌 🍿
I love Allan so much
You missed the point..first time I watched it was with you..big mistake.. It was great. not woke just aware..
It's there for Barbie for USA 🎉❤ Alam 💐 miss your smile 🎉❤
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. :)
I'm saving this one for later I've been a huge barbie girl since forever and haven't seen it yet.
Hi!

Thay speech should have been for men and women.

Let women have their thing. 🙄
What a fantastic video you made. I loved that you let yourself go into the emotional roller coaster that this movie offers.
I had the pregnant Barbie 😆😆 her tummy was a magnet and you could take it on and off her. 🫢🫢 yeah it was really weird.
