Just my opinion here, but Bella made NO DECISIONS based on her future "Spot in that generational wealth". But, the comment does make me smile. LMAO!!! (IMO)

But if my options were also childhood friend who at the the time [of meeting Edward] had no powers vs mysterious man who lives in a beautiful house whose dad is a doctor and has a hot family. Jake gives me the ick in this one... i usually live your reactions, but you kinda gave me the ick for the reaction to that second kiss too 🙃 edward is controlling in concern for her safety,its still not right, but jacob is manipulative because he wants her when shes made it clear she picks edward. He disrespects her so many times.
Gotta say this was probably the best Twilight rewatches I've seen because your commentary is just too good. Most people I know are Team Edward but your Team Jacob comments are hilarious.

Edward doesn't care if Bella has male friends, he cares if they will put her in danger or their intentions aren't innocent (remember he can read their minds!)
I'd always loved the interpretation that it wasn't just Edward bella was so attached to. Her speech at the end felt like the biggest insight into who she is. The way she says that she's never felt more herself than in Edward's world (being a vampire), to me sounds similar to feeling gender euphoria. You find out about this thing you never thought was possible (like being trans or non-binary), and it answers all the questions of why you never felt right in your own skin, why you felt out of place your whole life. It's euphoric, and it feels true and right. So in new moon, having that taken away (not just edward, but the idea of belonging in his world) was what caused her so much pain. It wasn't about Edward or Jacob, she clearly loves them both (in whatever way or degree people might interpret that love). It was about her finding herself and choosing the life she wants.
Well said, and very interesting perspective to compare that to the feeling of gender euphoria. They definitely do a much better job in the books than the movies of setting the stage for how out of sync Bella has always felt with her body and her life and how drawn she felt to Edward’s world, with or without him. It will become more apparent to Newfie as the last 2 movies wrap up, that Bella already has some differences from other people that have only been hinted at in an off hand manner to this point. It’s more about their destinies than just about attractions.
Okay!! I need to rant and I need the twilight fans that HAVE READ THE BOOKS ALSO to tell me what they think. Everyone wonders why Bella and Jacob were never meant to be. I have the answer. Jacob never imprinted on Bella. Boom. There fore even if Bella chose Jacob, Jacob was meant for someone else and was bound to find another!! Even if he was with her for years, he would leave her eventually! As much as Jacob is a healthy breathing being, as long as the vampires are around, Jacob doesn’t age either. Bella would have stayed human. Also when Bella was pregnant, Jacob in the books, ran off to try to imprint on someone else! To erase the pain of Bella he tried. Jacob knew he wasn’t meant for Bella, all of the wolves knew!! At the end of the day, Bella radiated happiness and fit perfectly as a vampire! 🤧🦇🖤 okays I’m done rantingsss 😂😂 THOUGHTS PLS
Listen, I loved Jake in the first two movies but the fact that he kisses her without consent and then later threatens to basically delete himself until she asks him to kiss her is absolutely disgusting. Edward has his problems and Bella does too but Jakes behavior was actually foul. I'm sorry but she told you multiple times that she doesn't feel the same way and it will always be Edward and yet Jacob refuses to respect her decision. There are absolutely reasons to be mad at Bella but her asking him to kiss her is not one of them, she was forced to cause Jake threatened to delete himself. That's actually the point where I stopped being on anyone's Team.
Victoria has a gift for evasion so she is hard to capture. Edward is terrified for Bella’s safety also he can read Jacobs mind and he can see that Jacob is really manipulative with his actions. Jacob is really annoying and that is partially because the actor is the worst acting ever.
What you were saying about “he doesn’t want you to damn your soul forever by becoming a vampire” I think it’s important to point out that this is just what Edward believes. Despite living in a world with mythical creatures, the characters in twilight know as much about the “afterlife” as we do. Bella does not hold Edward’s belief about their souls, and all of the Cullens have their differing beliefs about an afterlife. Jacob’s concern is that Bella will become essentially a monster, a stranger, and a natural enemy to him if she turns.
It’s not like Bella wanted to really kiss Jacob, he clearly manipulated her. I absolutely dislike Bella but Jacob is weird. Bella has made it clear since day one that Edward is her choice and always will be.
if you can excuse jacob's actions to his rage bc he's a shifter, then you can excuse edward's behavior bc becoming a vampire doesn't just increase your speed and strength and you get an insatiable craving for blood their emotions are also heightened incredibly, the good and the bad, so his jealousy and his anxiety of bella being around all the newly added werewolves and jacob who is still learning to control their anger and just like with emily can lose it for a split second and hurt or worst kill her he just went about it the wrong way. for both the werewolves and vampires it's all a matter of getting their emotions under control. again i don't agree with the way edward handled things but if jacob's emotions can get a little pass then so can edward's just saying. bella also doesn't really owe jacob anything just bc they’re childhood best friends that's mostly all he's been to her and that's what she needed when she was in pain but it seem like to me at least that he used that as a gateway to become something more with her. he literally had to threaten unaliving himself to get her to admit she had a little thing for him even tho she's told him times before that it's always been edward and it's always gonna be edward, that she loves more he just wasn't willing to except that like he wouldn't take no for answer.
i don’t think you understand how unfair and disrespectful it is for bella to continue to be friends with jacob knowing how both he and edward feel. yes, it’s her life, but she is in a relationship with edward and being extremely selfish and hurting both of them by continuing to be his friend. the MOMENT he disrespected her relationship boundaries he should have been cut off forever but she keeps accepting him back into her life no matter how much it hurts both edward and jacob. i mean he ASSAULTS her and she’s just like thanks for the apology and gift🤭and it’s like it never happened. she is a selfish and toxic person, just like the men she is inexplicably obsessed with.

While I haven’t read all the comments I have noticed a trend of making either Edward or Jacob into a horrible person/creature. As well as the reciprocal of excusing behavior because they are a creature. The truth of the matter is that they both act badly in differing ways. Though they have one in common they both think they know better than Bella does what is best for her. They react to events from their own perspective and their own motives. When it comes down to it the way she was written was to be more deeply in love with Edward and she wasn’t in love with Jacob to the same extent. What I truly find ironic is that by everyone having an opinion about who is better for her they are doing the same thing they hate on both the guys for doing. Love is unique to each person and there is no way to understand, explain or dictate who someone does or should love.
If Jacob imprints on somebody Bella is left in the dust by default just like Sam did to Lea when he imprinted on Emily.. so for that reason alone I wouldn't pick jacob.. but the forced kiss is literally sexual harassment... big red flag.. his temper could kill her like Sam almost killed Emily.. another red flag.. Jake is dangerous and tries to force her into shit also "hey I'm gonna kill myself if you don't love me".. the second kiss is forced bc of that GIANT. RED. FLAG. Jake is toxic af I'm actually surprised you are team Jacob at all to be honest
@inkeriananas if you read midnight sun you would know how not toxic edward is.. if anything Bella is toxic bc she forced edward into agreeing to turn her at the end of new moon.. they vote as a family to turn her against his wishes after he tried to leave her for her own good but Bella wasn't having it

Ask yourself how you’d feel if your spouse/partner was wearing a handmade bracelet given to them by a person who clearly wants to steal them away. Hell, Edward didn’t even ask her to remove it, he just gave her one to wear as well. I know that if some girl who wanted to sleep with me was giving me jewelry, my girlfriend would’ve kicked my ass, lol. I also think that it’s clearer in the books, but a lot of what you see as controlling is much more Edward trying to protect her. In the books, she’s constantly finding herself in danger & Edward can read all these people’s minds, so it’s more trying to keep her from getting hurt or killed. He’s really bad at not acting on his intrusive thoughts🤣
Yeah one of the things people who watch the movies miss is that while Jacob matured physically he was still the same age all of 16 while Edward looks like a teen he is around a hundred so the mental maturity is dramatically different.
She did choose from the beginning, it was always Edward. She grew up with Jacob as little kids, she loves him as a friend and she needed his friendship when she was going through her heartbreak but she always told him she didn’t feel the same way about him that he felt about her. He is the one that kept trying to cross lines and take advantage of her pain. Yet people get mad at her for not giving in to him. Like she somehow owes it to him to sleep with him since he wants her. I’m not saying that her relationship with Edward is healthy, just saying she doesn’t owe Jacob her heart or her body so when people say her rejecting his advances are her “treating him like shit” is offensive and incorrect.
I also feel like her dialogue to Edward, at the end, gets highly disregarded as well. For starters, Bella is introduced to us as a smart, mature person, right off the bat. We see her choose Edward, just as much as he chooses her, in the 1st & 2nd movie, but it’s really solidified/fleshed out in eclipse for me, hence my mention of her speech at the end. She makes her SELF very clear; who she is, who she wants to be, the life she wants, and how that led to WHO (Edward) she wants. The story can easily be flipped with her & Jacob at the end, & it would fit, but that’s not what/who she chooses.
She didn't treat him like shit but she did string him along. She told Jacob she wasn't into him but still wanted him around and even told him she loved him. Her actions didn't always match what she said. But... all three of them were toxic and they all were better off alone until they matured some.
I never hugged childhood friends half naked. They weren't friends, didn't even see jacob for his birthday. Jacob staied away until she sucked herself on him. Bella just wanted danger bikerides for her halucinations. Never seen character this disingenuous she just using anyone for wathever she wants giveing nothing in return. Jessica Angela Mike Jacob no one is safe. She dumps enyone at once for any cullen back for any short period of time. Im a woman and I hate her. Wanted tobforce her to have an abortion. People get so upset that you still like Jacob for Bella more and it’s a little unfair. Everyone is going off what is known from the books but they don’t show it very well (beyond the forced kiss) in the movie. Here it is…..the second kiss you saw as Bella wanting/asking for the kiss isn’t what they showed. Because we get Edward’s point of view and he see/hears everything in everyone’s heads we find out in the third book that Jacob is a lot more manipulative and forceful with Bella. That second kiss is actually planned in Jacob’s mind to use the threat of killing himself in order to trick Bella into being physically intimate with him against her will. He planned out how to manipulate her into doing different things she doesn’t want to do because he thinks she’ll have some kind of epiphany and pick him afterwards. He’s obsessed with idea and he allows it to excuse some really gross behavior in his mind. People just expect you to understand all that based on the extremely watered down version in a small movie clip and it’s unfair. Just trying to help you out. Great video, can’t wait for the last two.
I don't know man, literally threatening to kill yourself just to get someone to kiss you (even if you didn't expect that action specifically, just the idea that they might show you love) is blatantly awful. It's giving "I'm gonna kill myself if you breakup with me" energy. It is true tho that of course some people would have more context into these things and newfie is watching this for the first time, so it's unfair to blame him for some things to go over his head.
@@Ms_Ria I agree with you, completely. I find it interesting that both guys in some way tried to kill themselves, or in jacob's case, manipulated bella into believing that he might. But yeah, you are both right about the fact that he doesn't have as much context, and it would be better to just explain that first.
Between the two I have always been Team Edward. Jacob made me uncomfortable. Yes, Eward’s stalking and controlling stuff ticked me off but Jacob didn’t know what the word no means. She made it clear from the start that it was Edward. She had her moment of questioning something more with Jacob but knew that wasn’t what she wanted and made it clear. Jacob telling Bella what she thought and felt and then trying to push himself on her made me very uncomfortable. No means no and that can’t just be looked over. And then the argument could be made at this point in the story that Jacob is trying to force the relationship on her and what would have happened is she would have gave in and he would have imprinted on someone else? She would have been another Leah.
YES. I love Carlisle and Esme but I saw myself a lot in Alice. And Jasper is so sweet and kind to her. And she's so patient with him. Definitely goals.

If I remember correctly, the book described touching a vampire like touching marble, cold and unyielding. That's why they break and show cracks when injured. You're excitement for some scenes had me laughing. I'm glad you're enjoying the movies. I never understood Bella's obsession with Edward, but Jacob wasn't that much better for her either. Carlisle & Esme were a healthy relationship.
Oh dear, but you never gave Edward a chance 😂 You entered the film ready that you hate Edward and love Jacob, and therefore you had a defensive mechanism towards all of Jacob's actions and hated every behavior of Edward, even if it was logical. Quick review: In the novel, the reason why Edward initially prevented Bella from visiting Jacob was that the vampires did not know about the behavior of werewolves except that they were nervous and violent and could not control their reactions when they got angry, which is what we saw in the story (Sam and Emily) and the reaction of Paul Jacob's friend when Bella slapped him, and even we saw him in Jacob himself when he threw the car screwdriver next to Bella (we don't know, maybe the second time it might be in her face) but when he learns later that Jacob controls himself, he allows her to visit him, he even drives her himself to visit Jacob - I don't know why they didn't explain why Edward behaved like this in the movie, so things would have been clear. As for the bracelet, you made me laugh so much! He didn't even say a single word to her, nor did he ask her to take it off. All that mattered was that he was surprised that she wore a bracelet bearing a wolf from someone who confessed to her two days ago that he loved her and tried to force himself on her! it will be really weird if he didn't jealous. And try imagining it if it was upside down (Edward is wearing a bracelet from a girl who confessed her love to him two days ago, and Bella knew that and saw him wearing it) What would she have felt? ,she is literally his fiancée wearing someone else's bracelet, someone loves her. Why is his reaction strange, I don't understand. He is very patient! All the scenes of her riding the bike with Jacob did not happen - and when he told her about Victoria, she collapsed in tears and became shivering due to the psychological trauma caused by James - and here Jacob feels that perhaps Edward was right that he did not tell her and took her to visit her mothers so that she would not be harmed. What you also seem to forget is that Edward reads Jacob's thoughts (which is that he loves Bella and hates him and wants to force her to choose him) so it's normal that he is not comfortable with her friendship with him (and he has no problem with her friendship with anyone else), but even tho, he respected that she wanted Jacob as a friend in her life and he never tried to cut her relationship with him like choosing between him and Jacob as any other boyfriend would have, and he never tried to hurt Jacob knowing that this would hurt Bella - but in contrast, Jacob does not hesitate for a moment to Hurt Edward even though he knows what will happen to Bella. Edward did not want to transform Bella at all, and he wished to let her live a human life, but she could not bear it, as we have seen, yet he always encouraged her to live a human life, insisted that she choose a university and enroll in it, and brought her the papers to register her. Edward did not get angry at her at all when she kissed Jacob because he read Jacob's thoughts and saw that he manipulated her mind until she accepts to kiss him and took into account that they are young and that they are human and make mistakes - and for all Bella's situations with Jacob - Edward is considered a saint in patience and lack of jealousy! it was funny that you kept describing him as jealous despite his Accept of Jacob's presence (the person who loves his girlfriend openly and tries to impose himself on her)! Jacob was throughout the novel/movie annoying, rude, jealous, immature, who does not understand the meaning of the word no, and tries to make a problem whenever he sees Edward. Even Jacob's friends called him possessive. Charlie, Bella's father, loved Edward and Colin's family in the first novel, and he spent a lot of time with Edward in the first novel and the beginning of the second - but when Edward left Bella, Charlie started to hate him because of what happened to Bella in his absence - and when Bella developed a friendship with Jacob, He started to encourage Bella to choose Jacob, as he is the son of his friend. and his reaction was very bad in the novel when Bella broke her hand when Jacob kissed her forcibly. Her father laughed at the matter and encouraged Jacob about what he did, and out of her wrath, she called Edward to come and beat Jacob! Finally, this is the first time I see a mature man's reaction to this movie, he does not hate Jacob or his behavior, at least, and believes that he is really not suitable for her at all.
I don't think Edward wants Bella to have many guy friends, but not because he is jealous. He can read their thoughts, so he knows exactly what they're thinking about her every time they're around a guy together. If a guy that is supposed to be her friend is having weird thoughts about her, it's reasonable of Edward to be upset. Jacob definitely doesn't have friendship on the mind and Edward can hear every thought he has about her. Don't get me wrong, Edward is pretty toxic the first few films, but I can understand why he wouldn't want Bella to be friends with a bunch of dudes when he can hear what they think of her. Especially at school and around Jacob.
Yes Edward seems obsessed and controlling but keep in mind he has been alive for over 100 years and never been in love before. To have someone finally make him feel that way must be very overwhelming and now he has her in his life he is terrified something bad will happen to her and he will lose her. To him Werewolves are dangerous so of course he hates the idea of her being around Jacob without him being there to protect her. Plus he can usually hear thoughts and Alice can see the future so the fact he has no clue what is going on when Bella is around Jacob is a completely new experience for him and it scares him that she could be hurt from Jacob or one of the others losing control and he wouldn't know or be able to save her. Plus Jacob is very pushy trying to tell her she has feelings for him and forcing himself on her. She has made it clear from the very beginning that her choice is Edward. 😊
Edward isn’t that controlling or crazy about everyone if you think about it. Just Jacob cuz he can read his mind and knows how deep his feelings go and what he’s willing to do. But think about mike, her human buddy who has the biggesttttt crush on Bella, Edward is not at all threatened or worried about him. I think intention is another factor that Edward considers
Threatening to go to the battle to get killed if Bella doesn't "admit" she loves him, drove Jacobs character over the edge for me. Edward might be stalking and jaleous, but he never forced Bella into anything like that.
Team Charlie since the beginning of time. Definitely zaddy 😂😅 Then Jasper, always crushed on Jasper hard and THEN Edward. I remember my little teenage brain being so confused why people would choose a stinky dog over someone whose like a fresh cut diamond 💎 Also, Jacob to me was always whiney and manipulative. I thought Bell's made it pretty clear who she loved, and then Jacob pushed harder. That's... Not right? IDK. Although I appreciated shirtless Jacob so cheers for that 😂🤔
Finally someone who understands me!! 😄😅 Although Jacob is physically attractive, his pushy personality and being so cocky is off putting. Edward is not only physically attractive (beautiful features and also elegant), but he's also poised, well mannered and respectful. Not a jerk, like Jacob.
Im liking your reactions to this series, but just like others have pointed out, how can you say the last kiss with Jacob was a good kiss when he had to lirerally threaten to get himself killed just to get a kiss from her? Im really interested to see what your thoughts will be of the next movie and if any of your opinions change.
Seems like you got a lot of comments about your remaining preference for Jacob on this one haha 😂 Eclipse usually is a changing point for a lot of people as Jacob really goes over the line (as you also mentioned) and Edward shows a lot more maturity than in the other films. The movies don't do the books justice in this regard, but Bella in the books definitely is always leaning more towards Edward (which is why she always comes back to him). However, Edward's behavior is unacceptable at times as well and both love interests make horrible decisions throughout the series. Making decisions FOR Bella instead of just letting her make her own decisions is a recurring theme 😂 and part of their growing character arcs imo. Also lastly, Edward's behavior towards Bella and her being the love of his life isn't that unusual considering his past. I think he was 16 or 17 when he was turned back in the early 1900s and Bella is his first (and only) partner, the dude falls in love hard 😂 that coupled with the fact that he can literally hear every thought Jacob has about his girlfriend is probably super off-putting. It's one of the many reasons why I really like the mountaintop tent scene, especially for Edward's character development, as it shows him making a conscious effort to appreciate Jacob and what he can offer Bella. It's not about what HE wants, it's about Bella's best interest, and Edward recognizes fully and seems to accept that it's not about him. One of my fave scenes for sure. Either way, I'm not gonna bash you for your opinion cause I think that's just silly! I'm glad to see you're picking up on all the plot details early and are also giving the different aspects of vampire lore in this world a chance, it's very refreshing and it makes for an entertaining watch! I know a lot of people dislike this series, but personally I really appreciate you giving it a fair chance and finding parts of it to enjoy :D Oh and lastly, I absolutely LOVED Rosalie's backstory, so I'm glad to see your reaction to that as well!
Love your reactions but it seems like the only reason you hate Edward is because you're so team Jacob that you don't see his own obsessive behaviour. Like he completely ignore what she says and kiss her without consent ? He totally disregards her feelings and repeatedly tells her she doesn't know what she wants. Haha. I wouldn't really call it a twist, I just view it as the main progression of the story that I thought was a given. :) Her original brood got killed off so she was all alone. I assumed she would try and get a new crew in this film rather than take on all the Collin's by herself. :)

Watching the mental gymnastics of reactors making so many excuses for all of Jacob’s inexcusable behavior while using an equal amount of energy to vilify everything Edward (her actual fiancé) does is interesting.
The other thing that blows my mind is how ppl just ignore the fact that Bella is a very smart, mature person, who has made it clear that she can think for herself. Eclipse really shows her decision, resolution, & thinking, very clearly, especially the speech to edward at the end, which is one of my fave parts. Yet her being very clear about who she is, what she wants & who she wants gets disregarded. Lastly, edward doesn’t get enough credit for his maturity, understanding, & patience in this movie. He also doesn’t get credit for a lot of the good points he makes/things he says in this particular movie.

I think what I hate about Jacob is that he is like the "nice guy" he thinks he is the better option, doesn't understand "No" for an answer when force Bella to kiss him and again when he said that would kill himself to Bella, that is worst than having a protective emo boyfriend in my opinion.
So in the books Edward does these red flags that we all hate so much, but Bella stops him and stands up for herself and he then realizes he can't act this way or that way... Idk why they didn't portray this in the movies bc its the whole reason why Edward and Bella are perfect for each other bc Bella tells him to knock his crap off.
This is my favorite twilight movie and book, I just wished Bree (the girl that got killed at the end) didn't die at the end, the actress is Jodelle Ferland, she's in a lot of horror movies;Silent Hill, Case 39 and cabin in the woods. (she's pretty famous for playing Alessa in Silent Hill.)
I love the TWILIGHT movies. But I have to ask. How can you think that Bella can't decide. She has NEVER chosen Jacob over Edward. So Far at least. She is choosing LOVE over life. If the Tribe was rich and the Vampires poor, she would still choose Edward. Anyone who doesn't see that, isn't watching the same movie. Keep going, man. Only 2 more movies left.

It's not necessary to pick sides. I love the Twilight movies and acknowledge the toxicity in all the characters. I also understand why people choose Edward or Jacob. But it's not a requirement to enjoy the franchise.

Your reactions to the triangle is very close to many of the young women that saw this, but us older women understood Bella all along, Edward was controlling but Jacob was manipulative, Bella was always in control of her own life while the boys competed, grown women hate that crap, we just wait for you guys to grow up and testosterone levels lower. lol! Bella isn't kissing Jacob because she wants him if you watch how Jacob is reacting to the engagement saying he wants to go kill something hes playing with Bella's emotions hoping to get her to admit her feelings and piss Edward off hoping they would split up! it was his last play to get Bella so she panics thinking hes going into battle thinking there's nothing to live for so she makes him think there is a chance just so he calms the F down! and fights with a clear head
Jacob was Bella’s childhood best friend, sure, and yeahh she sort of used his company to feel better the last movie, but she just never loved him like that. Jacob, however, is the one who took it as Bella falling in love with him and ran with it! He completely refused to listen to her when she outright told him she didn’t feel that way multiple times, and he ignored what she actually wanted the whole time. Then on top of that he assaulted her to get the first kiss, continued to tell her how she was feeling without half a thought to how she was actually feeling, and then he emotionally manipulated another horrible kiss out of her by basically saying he’ll just go get himself killed- like🤢 And if you can forgive Jacob’s “primal rage” then you can forgive Edward’s overprotectiveness- considering at this point she is the only person who has ever made him feel how he feels and she just so happens to be the most clumsy human alive rn and all he wants to do is keep her safe. And also I personally don’t take ‘losing the soul’ as an argument against Bella becoming a vampire, cause Edward only believes that because Carlisle does- cause of Carlisle’s past

I refuse to reread the books but yes Jacob did technically threaten to un-alive himself but I’m lost at where some of you are forgetting that it did work. Jacob is just has controlling and weird as Edward if not worse. He stalks her too, even before he changes. I mean, Edward was being no less controlling than Jacob, who tried to physically stop her from going inside to see Alice and wouldn't let Edward talk to her on the phone and has repeatedly tried to stop her from being in the presence of any of her vampire friends. BOTH of them are trying to be over-protective. So why is it ok that Jacob did it but not that Edward did it? 😛 You're so funny talking about how obsessive Edward is like Jacob is no less obsessive. I think you like werewolves so much that you are willing to overlook the same exact behaviors that Edward is displaying when Jacob also displays them. I really don't think Bella is playing both fields. Remember that Jacob was her childhood friend. It's his friendship she loves the most. the fandom gets very heated on the jacob vs edward. just enjoy the movie and screw what everyone thinks! I'm enjoying your reaction so far and although I'm team Edward, I still love to see your appreciation for werewolves! They're my favorite creature in this series for sure hahah
Jacob kissing her wasn't just a small bad thing, it was a crime. He forced her, he kissed her without her consent to the point she had to push him away and punch him, and he felt justified doing so. Then he manipulated her emotionally, saying he was going to go off himself in the fight, to manipulate her to kiss him again. It's not even a question that he is absolutely NOT it for her. He needs to grow the fuck up, answer to his mistakes, and change. That being said, Edward isn't it either. He is controlling and a bit manipulative too. Neither of them are good for her, mostly because she isn't mature enough to know what is good and what is not. She's hormone driven and her brain isn't fully developed. Bella needed therapy, some good years of life experiences, and some self esteem. Not a husband and a pet.
One thing I think that gets old is the rivalry between teams Edward and Jacob. Why is it so political? She made her choice, of which in my opinion was the correct one. Let’s move on. With that said, I still think this is the best of the series. Best action forsure.

I'd always loved the interpretation that it wasn't just Edward bella was so attached to. Her speech at the end felt like the biggest insight into who she is. The way she says that she's never felt more herself than in Edward's world (being a vampire), to me sounds similar to feeling gender euphoria.
You find out about this thing you never thought was possible (like being trans or non-binary), and it answers all the questions of why you never felt right in your own skin, why you felt out of place your whole life. It's euphoric, and it feels true and right.
So in new moon, having that taken away (not just edward, but the idea of belonging in his world) was what caused her so much pain. It wasn't about Edward or Jacob, she clearly loves them both (in whatever way or degree people might interpret that love). It was about her finding herself and choosing the life she wants.
Well said, and very interesting perspective to compare that to the feeling of gender euphoria. They definitely do a much better job in the books than the movies of setting the stage for how out of sync Bella has always felt with her body and her life and how drawn she felt to Edward’s world, with or without him. It will become more apparent to Newfie as the last 2 movies wrap up, that Bella already has some differences from other people that have only been hinted at in an off hand manner to this point. It’s more about their destinies than just about attractions.

Listen, I loved Jake in the first two movies but the fact that he kisses her without consent and then later threatens to basically delete himself until she asks him to kiss her is absolutely disgusting. Edward has his problems and Bella does too but Jakes behavior was actually foul. I'm sorry but she told you multiple times that she doesn't feel the same way and it will always be Edward and yet Jacob refuses to respect her decision. There are absolutely reasons to be mad at Bella but her asking him to kiss her is not one of them, she was forced to cause Jake threatened to delete himself. That's actually the point where I stopped being on anyone's Team.
Victoria has a gift for evasion so she is hard to capture. Edward is terrified for Bella’s safety also he can read Jacobs mind and he can see that Jacob is really manipulative with his actions. Jacob is really annoying and that is partially because the actor is the worst acting ever.
What you were saying about “he doesn’t want you to damn your soul forever by becoming a vampire” I think it’s important to point out that this is just what Edward believes. Despite living in a world with mythical creatures, the characters in twilight know as much about the “afterlife” as we do. Bella does not hold Edward’s belief about their souls, and all of the Cullens have their differing beliefs about an afterlife. Jacob’s concern is that Bella will become essentially a monster, a stranger, and a natural enemy to him if she turns.
It’s not like Bella wanted to really kiss Jacob, he clearly manipulated her. I absolutely dislike Bella but Jacob is weird. Bella has made it clear since day one that Edward is her choice and always will be.

if you can excuse jacob's actions to his rage bc he's a shifter, then you can excuse edward's behavior bc becoming a vampire doesn't just increase your speed and strength and you get an insatiable craving for blood their emotions are also heightened incredibly, the good and the bad, so his jealousy and his anxiety of bella being around all the newly added werewolves and jacob who is still learning to control their anger and just like with emily can lose it for a split second and hurt or worst kill her he just went about it the wrong way. for both the werewolves and vampires it's all a matter of getting their emotions under control. again i don't agree with the way edward handled things but if jacob's emotions can get a little pass then so can edward's just saying. bella also doesn't really owe jacob anything just bc they’re childhood best friends that's mostly all he's been to her and that's what she needed when she was in pain but it seem like to me at least that he used that as a gateway to become something more with her. he literally had to threaten unaliving himself to get her to admit she had a little thing for him even tho she's told him times before that it's always been edward and it's always gonna be edward, that she loves more he just wasn't willing to except that like he wouldn't take no for answer.

While I haven’t read all the comments I have noticed a trend of making either Edward or Jacob into a horrible person/creature. As well as the reciprocal of excusing behavior because they are a creature. The truth of the matter is that they both act badly in differing ways. Though they have one in common they both think they know better than Bella does what is best for her. They react to events from their own perspective and their own motives. When it comes down to it the way she was written was to be more deeply in love with Edward and she wasn’t in love with Jacob to the same extent. What I truly find ironic is that by everyone having an opinion about who is better for her they are doing the same thing they hate on both the guys for doing. Love is unique to each person and there is no way to understand, explain or dictate who someone does or should love.

She did choose from the beginning, it was always Edward. She grew up with Jacob as little kids, she loves him as a friend and she needed his friendship when she was going through her heartbreak but she always told him she didn’t feel the same way about him that he felt about her. He is the one that kept trying to cross lines and take advantage of her pain. Yet people get mad at her for not giving in to him. Like she somehow owes it to him to sleep with him since he wants her. I’m not saying that her relationship with Edward is healthy, just saying she doesn’t owe Jacob her heart or her body so when people say her rejecting his advances are her “treating him like shit” is offensive and incorrect.

I also feel like her dialogue to Edward, at the end, gets highly disregarded as well. For starters, Bella is introduced to us as a smart, mature person, right off the bat. We see her choose Edward, just as much as he chooses her, in the 1st & 2nd movie, but it’s really solidified/fleshed out in eclipse for me, hence my mention of her speech at the end. She makes her SELF very clear; who she is, who she wants to be, the life she wants, and how that led to WHO (Edward) she wants. The story can easily be flipped with her & Jacob at the end, & it would fit, but that’s not what/who she chooses.

People get so upset that you still like Jacob for Bella more and it’s a little unfair. Everyone is going off what is known from the books but they don’t show it very well (beyond the forced kiss) in the movie. Here it is…..the second kiss you saw as Bella wanting/asking for the kiss isn’t what they showed. Because we get Edward’s point of view and he see/hears everything in everyone’s heads we find out in the third book that Jacob is a lot more manipulative and forceful with Bella. That second kiss is actually planned in Jacob’s mind to use the threat of killing himself in order to trick Bella into being physically intimate with him against her will. He planned out how to manipulate her into doing different things she doesn’t want to do because he thinks she’ll have some kind of epiphany and pick him afterwards. He’s obsessed with idea and he allows it to excuse some really gross behavior in his mind.
People just expect you to understand all that based on the extremely watered down version in a small movie clip and it’s unfair.

I don't know man, literally threatening to kill yourself just to get someone to kiss you (even if you didn't expect that action specifically, just the idea that they might show you love) is blatantly awful. It's giving "I'm gonna kill myself if you breakup with me" energy.

Between the two I have always been Team Edward. Jacob made me uncomfortable. Yes, Eward’s stalking and controlling stuff ticked me off but Jacob didn’t know what the word no means. She made it clear from the start that it was Edward. She had her moment of questioning something more with Jacob but knew that wasn’t what she wanted and made it clear. Jacob telling Bella what she thought and felt and then trying to push himself on her made me very uncomfortable. No means no and that can’t just be looked over. And then the argument could be made at this point in the story that Jacob is trying to force the relationship on her and what would have happened is she would have gave in and he would have imprinted on someone else? She would have been another Leah.

If I remember correctly, the book described touching a vampire like touching marble, cold and unyielding. That's why they break and show cracks when injured. You're excitement for some scenes had me laughing. I'm glad you're enjoying the movies. I never understood Bella's obsession with Edward, but Jacob wasn't that much better for her either. Carlisle & Esme were a healthy relationship.

You entered the film ready that you hate Edward and love Jacob, and therefore you had a defensive mechanism towards all of Jacob's actions and hated every behavior of Edward, even if it was logical.
Quick review:
In the novel, the reason why Edward initially prevented Bella from visiting Jacob was that the vampires did not know about the behavior of werewolves except that they were nervous and violent and could not control their reactions when they got angry, which is what we saw in the story (Sam and Emily) and the reaction of Paul Jacob's friend when Bella slapped him, and even we saw him in Jacob himself when he threw the car screwdriver next to Bella (we don't know, maybe the second time it might be in her face) but when he learns later that Jacob controls himself, he allows her to visit him, he even drives her himself to visit Jacob - I don't know why they didn't explain why Edward behaved like this in the movie, so things would have been clear.
As for the bracelet, you made me laugh so much! He didn't even say a single word to her, nor did he ask her to take it off. All that mattered was that he was surprised that she wore a bracelet bearing a wolf from someone who confessed to her two days ago that he loved her and tried to force himself on her! it will be really weird if he didn't jealous. And try imagining it if it was upside down (Edward is wearing a bracelet from a girl who confessed her love to him two days ago, and Bella knew that and saw him wearing it) What would she have felt? ,she is literally his fiancée wearing someone else's bracelet, someone loves her. Why is his reaction strange, I don't understand. He is very patient! All the scenes of her riding the bike with Jacob did not happen - and when he told her about Victoria, she collapsed in tears and became shivering due to the psychological trauma caused by James - and here Jacob feels that perhaps Edward was right that he did not tell her and took her to visit her mothers so that she would not be harmed.
What you also seem to forget is that Edward reads Jacob's thoughts (which is that he loves Bella and hates him and wants to force her to choose him) so it's normal that he is not comfortable with her friendship with him (and he has no problem with her friendship with anyone else), but even tho, he respected that she wanted Jacob as a friend in her life and he never tried to cut her relationship with him like choosing between him and Jacob as any other boyfriend would have, and he never tried to hurt Jacob knowing that this would hurt Bella - but in contrast, Jacob does not hesitate for a moment to Hurt Edward even though he knows what will happen to Bella.
Edward did not want to transform Bella at all, and he wished to let her live a human life, but she could not bear it, as we have seen, yet he always encouraged her to live a human life, insisted that she choose a university and enroll in it, and brought her the papers to register her.
Edward did not get angry at her at all when she kissed Jacob because he read Jacob's thoughts and saw that he manipulated her mind until she accepts to kiss him and took into account that they are young and that they are human and make mistakes - and for all Bella's situations with Jacob - Edward is considered a saint in patience and lack of jealousy! it was funny that you kept describing him as jealous despite his Accept of Jacob's presence (the person who loves his girlfriend openly and tries to impose himself on her)!
Jacob was throughout the novel/movie annoying, rude, jealous, immature, who does not understand the meaning of the word no, and tries to make a problem whenever he sees Edward. Even Jacob's friends called him possessive.
Charlie, Bella's father, loved Edward and Colin's family in the first novel, and he spent a lot of time with Edward in the first novel and the beginning of the second - but when Edward left Bella, Charlie started to hate him because of what happened to Bella in his absence - and when Bella developed a friendship with Jacob, He started to encourage Bella to choose Jacob, as he is the son of his friend. and his reaction was very bad in the novel when Bella broke her hand when Jacob kissed her forcibly. Her father laughed at the matter and encouraged Jacob about what he did, and out of her wrath, she called Edward to come and beat Jacob!
Finally, this is the first time I see a mature man's reaction to this movie, he does not hate Jacob or his behavior, at least, and believes that he is really not suitable for her at all.
I don't think Edward wants Bella to have many guy friends, but not because he is jealous. He can read their thoughts, so he knows exactly what they're thinking about her every time they're around a guy together. If a guy that is supposed to be her friend is having weird thoughts about her, it's reasonable of Edward to be upset. Jacob definitely doesn't have friendship on the mind and Edward can hear every thought he has about her. Don't get me wrong, Edward is pretty toxic the first few films, but I can understand why he wouldn't want Bella to be friends with a bunch of dudes when he can hear what they think of her. Especially at school and around Jacob.
Yes Edward seems obsessed and controlling but keep in mind he has been alive for over 100 years and never been in love before. To have someone finally make him feel that way must be very overwhelming and now he has her in his life he is terrified something bad will happen to her and he will lose her. To him Werewolves are dangerous so of course he hates the idea of her being around Jacob without him being there to protect her. Plus he can usually hear thoughts and Alice can see the future so the fact he has no clue what is going on when Bella is around Jacob is a completely new experience for him and it scares him that she could be hurt from Jacob or one of the others losing control and he wouldn't know or be able to save her. Plus Jacob is very pushy trying to tell her she has feelings for him and forcing himself on her. She has made it clear from the very beginning that her choice is Edward. 😊
Edward isn’t that controlling or crazy about everyone if you think about it. Just Jacob cuz he can read his mind and knows how deep his feelings go and what he’s willing to do. But think about mike, her human buddy who has the biggesttttt crush on Bella, Edward is not at all threatened or worried about him. I think intention is another factor that Edward considers

Seems like you got a lot of comments about your remaining preference for Jacob on this one haha 😂 Eclipse usually is a changing point for a lot of people as Jacob really goes over the line (as you also mentioned) and Edward shows a lot more maturity than in the other films. The movies don't do the books justice in this regard, but Bella in the books definitely is always leaning more towards Edward (which is why she always comes back to him). However, Edward's behavior is unacceptable at times as well and both love interests make horrible decisions throughout the series. Making decisions FOR Bella instead of just letting her make her own decisions is a recurring theme 😂 and part of their growing character arcs imo. Also lastly, Edward's behavior towards Bella and her being the love of his life isn't that unusual considering his past. I think he was 16 or 17 when he was turned back in the early 1900s and Bella is his first (and only) partner, the dude falls in love hard 😂 that coupled with the fact that he can literally hear every thought Jacob has about his girlfriend is probably super off-putting. It's one of the many reasons why I really like the mountaintop tent scene, especially for Edward's character development, as it shows him making a conscious effort to appreciate Jacob and what he can offer Bella. It's not about what HE wants, it's about Bella's best interest, and Edward recognizes fully and seems to accept that it's not about him. One of my fave scenes for sure.
Either way, I'm not gonna bash you for your opinion cause I think that's just silly! I'm glad to see you're picking up on all the plot details early and are also giving the different aspects of vampire lore in this world a chance, it's very refreshing and it makes for an entertaining watch! I know a lot of people dislike this series, but personally I really appreciate you giving it a fair chance and finding parts of it to enjoy :D Oh and lastly, I absolutely LOVED Rosalie's backstory, so I'm glad to see your reaction to that as well!

Love your reactions but it seems like the only reason you hate Edward is because you're so team Jacob that you don't see his own obsessive behaviour. Haha. I wouldn't really call it a twist, I just view it as the main progression of the story that I thought was a given. :) Her original brood got killed off so she was all alone. I assumed she would try and get a new crew in this film rather than take on all the Collin's by herself. :)

Watching the mental gymnastics of reactors making so many excuses for all of Jacob’s inexcusable behavior while using an equal amount of energy to vilify everything Edward (her actual fiancé) does is interesting.
The other thing that blows my mind is how ppl just ignore the fact that Bella is a very smart, mature person, who has made it clear that she can think for herself. Eclipse really shows her decision, resolution, & thinking, very clearly, especially the speech to edward at the end, which is one of my fave parts. Yet her being very clear about who she is, what she wants & who she wants gets disregarded. Lastly, edward doesn’t get enough credit for his maturity, understanding, & patience in this movie. He also doesn’t get credit for a lot of the good points he makes/things he says in this particular movie.

By this movie it was honestly team anyone but Bella.
Jacob was Bella’s childhood best friend, sure, and yeahh she sort of used his company to feel better the last movie, but she just never loved him like that.
Jacob, however, is the one who took it as Bella falling in love with him and ran with it! He completely refused to listen to her when she outright told him she didn’t feel that way multiple times, and he ignored what she actually wanted the whole time. Then on top of that he assaulted her to get the first kiss, continued to tell her how she was feeling without half a thought to how she was actually feeling, and then he emotionally manipulated another horrible kiss out of her by basically saying he’ll just go get himself killed- like🤢
And if you can forgive Jacob’s “primal rage” then you can forgive Edward’s overprotectiveness- considering at this point she is the only person who has ever made him feel how he feels and she just so happens to be the most clumsy human alive rn and all he wants to do is keep her safe.
And also I personally don’t take ‘losing the soul’ as an argument against Bella becoming a vampire, cause Edward only believes that because Carlisle does- cause of Carlisle’s past

Hes constantly overstepping her boundaries. & also Jacob is supposed to be 1-2years younger than Bella despite his size. Shes naturally more mature than him & if this was a non-paranormal situation, she still wouldn’t date him probably bc he’s younger and has been put in the friend zone since diapers.

You're so funny talking about how obsessive Edward is like Jacob is no less obsessive. I think you like werewolves so much that you are willing to overlook the same exact behaviors that Edward is displaying when Jacob also displays them. And it's ok for Jacob to get emotional because he's a werewolf and loves Bella but you make fun of Edward for also getting emotional because he loves Bella. Make fun of Edward's jealousy and completely ignore and sometimes almost praise Jacob's jealousy. We always root for the one we like even if they are actually no better or worse than the other one. That's completely a human nature thing. We ALL do it. I've done it with some shows too. Just interesting to see such a clear cut case of it when its often more ambiguous.
I really don't think Bella is playing both fields. Remember that Jacob was her childhood friend. It's his friendship she loves the most. Jacob kissing her wasn't just a small bad thing, it was a crime. He forced her, he kissed her without her consent to the point she had to push him away and punch him, and he felt justified doing so. Then he manipulated her emotionally, saying he was going to go off himself in the fight, to manipulate her to kiss him again. It's not even a question that he is absolutely NOT it for her. He needs to grow the fuck up, answer to his mistakes, and change.
That being said, Edward isn't it either. He is controlling and a bit manipulative too. Neither of them are good for her, mostly because she isn't mature enough to know what is good and what is not. She's hormone driven and her brain isn't fully developed. Bella needed therapy, some good years of life experiences, and some self esteem. Not a husband and a pet.
One thing I think that gets old is the rivalry between teams Edward and Jacob. Why is it so political? She made her choice, of which in my opinion was the correct one. Let’s move on. With that said, I still think this is the best of the series. Best action forsure.
