My heart goes out to you, and I’m so sad about Samantha. Our kitty, LucyBelle, was diagnosed with oral squamous cell carcinoma, an aggressive form of cancer, the end of May. But it was today, the same day I watched your video, that her symptoms accelerated and I’m afraid that we’ll have to make the decision in a day or two. It’s excruciating losing a furry family member so you have my deepest sympathies. A friend once suggested when my first cat died, that I write down every teeny tiny thing about him saying you’ll remember many things but not everything. Those words have given me comfort through the years.

Oh Audrey, I am so sorry for your loss. Almost a year ago I lost my little black cat and I still get misty eyed about having to euthanize him. He was wonderful and I didn't want to put him down and agonized over it and his suffering. It was tough for my husband as well, we both cried for a while. We have the tuxedo cat left but he has a thyroid problem so we are doing our best to keep him alive and comfortable as best we can. Thank you for the video. Take care.

So sorry about Samantha, I lost my 20 year old Xanthe in March. I travel from Sydney to Europe for 5-6 weeks most years with just a carry on, stopping over in the UAE each way for several days. This really only works if my destination is mild in European spring or autumn (I've been caught out arriving in Berlin in late April at midday where it was 8 deg C after having left Abu Dhabi in 40C). Mostly I go to Greece or Turkey and it works a treat. You didn't mention weight and I find this is more crucial than how much you can jam in, especially if you have any domestic or intra-european flights where most airlines have a strict carryon weight policy of usually 7-10 kg. The fees can be hefty if you exceed the limit or worse if they stop you at the gate. The key is to start off with a lightweight bag, less than 2 kg, and expandable. Happy travelling. 🦊

Would have really, really have appreciated seeing exactly your method of packing though that you have refined and specifically referred to and how things actually fit in your bags. The makeup, toiletries, hair tools, chargers, etc. you packed to ensure it could be carryon and not checked? Loved seeing the outfits but how did it all fit? And so much seemed to be left out. Please please please do a follow up video to show your complete method. I’m seriously very, very, very interested. It was the reason I tuned in and what I hoped to see in full. How did you handle the wrinkles in the clothing while you traveled? Where is the laundry? How many pieces of underclothes did you take and did you hand wash? So sorry for the loss of your cat 😢However, that case and bag will not be accepted as cabin bagage on European flights. The suitcase has to be onze size smaller and has to include your personal bag. They would probably make you check the suitcase and keep the personal bag for cabin bagage.

Sorry about your kitty😢. I know one thing that stops me from doing travel capsules like this is the fear that things will get too dirty or sweaty to wear twice. I am a champion at spilling food on myself on top of just spending a lot of active time on vacation. I tend to overpack because I am paranoid about not having something clean to change into. The pricier the hotel, the harder it is to do laundry. Mid-range hotels will have laundry facilities you can do yourself, but nicer hotels charge you high prices by the piece and don’t have the option of doing your own. Rentals may have laundry rooms, but small inns and bed and breakfasts usually don’t. I have tried taking travel detergent with me and washing clothes in the sink with mixed success. What are some of your favorite dirty clothes solutions?
Most international cities have laundromats. My husband and I usually only take carry on when we travel and there have been laundromats in Paris, Sydney, Lisbon...etc. We've used them all!😄
I love this, and it does make travel easier. I usually pack a similar pallete, mostly greys and black. A few scarves are my go-to for accessorizing. I’m sorry for your loss, but what precious memories made with your Samantha.

I wanted to add one ensemble I love to wear when I know it will rain: A machine washable skirt with boots and a trench or coat that comes to about the skirt's length. That way, I only get wet and muddy where I can clean it easily: rain coat, boots and legs. Bonus: The skirt is comfortable, makes me feel put together and takes little space in my bag.

Lol you could've saved me! I'm literally watching you rn in the Munchen Airport omw back home after a week in Germany and I took a giant bag and seeing that I was travelling solo it was hard to move around with it. I'm going back to Europe in July and hopefully this video will help, thank you 😊
One tip: weather can be inconsistent here. Do not rely on weather Charts more than one week before. Avoid sythetic fibres as it can be warm, hot abd dry, rainy or hot and humid.
Dear Audrey, It is so difficult to lose a pet and I am so sorry you have had to experience that pain. I've lost 3 wonderful elderly dogs, one right after another all with critical level health issues in the last 3 years so believe me I know what you are feeling losing your kitty. My prayers are with you as you heal from your loss.
My husband and I spent 2 1/2 weeks in Portugal last month and we each just brought carry-on. I also did a coordinated palette so everything would mix and match - navy, white, and light blue. I love to travel light. I am so sorry for the loss of your cat. Losing a pet is like losing a member of the family.

Sorry to hear about your cat. It is pretty tough to lose a pet. I lost several this year….I had some old kitties. So I do understand. I used to live in London and love the Cotswolds. I am looking at doing a carry on only vacation. I am getting better at packing all the time!
This is quite helpful! Seeing the individual pieces would have also been helpful. The video will surely outlive the links; seeing the individual pieces makes it easier to analyze them to look for similar items when close-up pictures on individual sites are no longer available.
I did a breakdown of what she listed in the links above, subtract a TRAVEL SET from the list to determine what was packed into the carry-on: 3 TOPS: boatneck, graphic T, white long sleeve 3 SWEATERS: bulky blue, white and zip front 6 BOTTOMS: gray trousers, black jeans, blue jeans, beige pants, skirt, leggings (can be worn for warmth under pants) SHOES: slip on sneakers, cap toe pumps, black boots OVER: blazer, waterproof coat OTHER: tote, small bag, scarf, sunglasses, PJ
@@AudreyCoyne I don't mean to sound mean but I don't know what being petite has to do with filling up a suitcase. If a woman is 5' 6", I really don't think an extra inch in each of her pants and sweater sleeves will make her overflow a carry on. Either that many pieces of clothing can fit in a carryon or they can't. Apparently, they do.

I watched your previous European carry-on packing video years ago before embarking on a 2 week trip to England and France. Thanks to that video and one from Rick Steves I was able to take that trip and every trip since with just carry-on and a personal bag. Do I wish I had a few more items sometimes...yes...but would I change and take a checked bag...no. Traveling with carry-on only makes moving around from city to city or country to country so much easier and there's no chance for your luggage to be stolen or lost.

Sorry to hear about your cat. It is pretty tough to lose a pet. I lost several this year….I had some old kitties. So I do understand. I used to live in London and love the Cotswolds. I am looking at doing a carry on only vacation. I am getting better at packing all the time!

This is quite helpful! Seeing the individual pieces would have also been helpful. The video will surely outlive the links; seeing the individual pieces makes it easier to analyze them to look for similar items when close-up pictures on individual sites are no longer available.
I did a breakdown of what she listed in the links above, subtract a TRAVEL SET from the list to determine what was packed into the carry-on: 3 TOPS: boatneck, graphic T, white long sleeve 3 SWEATERS: bulky blue, white and zip front 6 BOTTOMS: gray trousers, black jeans, blue jeans, beige pants, skirt, leggings (can be worn for warmth under pants) SHOES: slip on sneakers, cap toe pumps, black boots OVER: blazer, waterproof coat OTHER: tote, small bag, scarf, sunglasses, PJ

That’s the biggest carry on ever. Does it fit in the cage thing they have at the airport to determine acceptable size?
Keep in mind she's also very petite.
I had no problems in the UK! It’s a standard European carry on size, I’m just petite ❤️
@@AudreyCoyne I don't mean to sound mean but I don't know what being petite has to do with filling up a suitcase. If a woman is 5' 6", I really don't think an extra inch in each of her pants and sweater sleeves will make her overflow a carry on. Either that many pieces of clothing can fit in a carryon or they can't. Apparently, they do.

I watched your previous European carry-on packing video years ago before embarking on a 2 week trip to England and France. Thanks to that video and one from Rick Steves I was able to take that trip and every trip since with just carry-on and a personal bag. Do I wish I had a few more items sometimes...yes...but would I change and take a checked bag...no. Traveling with carry-on only makes moving around from city to city or country to country so much easier and there's no chance for your luggage to be stolen or lost.
