If you guys are wondering the inspiration behind this, this was inspired by a 1976 French Film called "C'etait Un Rendez-Vous (ENGLISH TRANSLATION: It Was Only A Date)", which features the same plot of a car driving around a city breaking many laws (Such as not stopping at traffic lights, going at high speeds, and more) in the early morning (5:30 AM and then after a few minutes, meets a girl at a specified area). The car in the original 1976 film was a 1976 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 Litre (Sedan with Fuel Injection) with the sound of a Ferrari 275 GTB with a V12. The Driver of that Mercedes-Benz was Claude Lelouch, who was arrested after the film was released but then released.
@Fail Zero Why? A VQ will do 250K miles no problem and sound fantastic. A BMW 6 doesn't sound anywhere near as nice and will break down shit loads with its dodgy German build quality and terrible overuse of plastic engine components.
@@addz17 Lmao my G35 has 83k miles and is on it's third engine. They sound like shit and they aren't that reliable if you do anything fun with them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I've seen this many times since 2003, when I was 11 years old, and it still gets me every time. I actually just found the shorter version which has a couple of different cuts for more drama, and ends at the buses, and intentionally cut off as they crossed so you weren't sure what happened next - that was the first version I saw, with my older brother, in the cinemas - im pretty sure we were seeing the Matrix Reloaded. This car has had a profound impact on my life and passion for cars, and it started from these promos (not my passion for cars, that was instilled in me even earlier than that - this evoked my passion for Z cars) - I'm very likely purchasing my first 350Z in 2 days, it's the later model with the updated VQ35HR motor instead of the DE that was in this, but it sounds just as good. Watching the 2 promos again today genuinely made me tear up, almost 20 years of looking at these cars, using them in every single racing game that had it - Gran Turismo, Forza Motorsport, NFS Underground 2, countless others; I'm finally going to have my own. Wonder if anyone will even read this 😅
@aidananchaya3616 I did! I've been daily driving my dream car for a couple of months now, and the excitement hasn't faded - its got some niggly little issues which I'm having an auto electrician look at over the next few days actually, but I love it.
lmao I've never seen this video and my friend just sent it to me and 1/2 through I messaged him back and said, "yeah this everytime I go to the grocery store"
I own one of those cars in that exact same color.. Manual shift as well. These cars are the most fun to drive. I have had a lot of cars and have been driving for a long time and this has to be the most all around fun car to drive I have ever driven.
@@nvrndingsmmr You don't usually see them in Lemans Sunset, which is what that color is called. I saw the one I own in the used car section of a Ford dealership. I didn't expect to actually be able to buy it but I gave them a very low offer and to my surprise, they accepted it and within an hour I ended up owning the car. Now I have the Z as well as my old 1990 5.0L Mustang sedan and a 2014 Infiniti Q60S. All three with manual transmissions, of course!!

To all you who think the driver drives slow... If I did the counting right, he did an average of 93,5 km/h (57mph)!!! Through the streets of historic Prague! Take even into consideration, that he had absolute responsibility for hurting any pedestrian! They've closed the streets for cars, stopped the buses and the trams, but they couldn't close the streets for pedestrians. ...it would take an army of cops to do so and a lot of money and a lot of convincing to the city council and the czech police! I still don't get it, that they were allowed to do so. By the city... OK, they get money, some popularity that gets more tourists to Prague... But the Police? In Czech republic the Police is run by the State and so the Police doesn't care about Prague being popular, or that Prague gets money. They care only for the law and the interrests of the State, so what the film makers had to do to convince police... That's a question. So, if any pedestrian would run in front of the car and he would hurt him, he would take full responsibility! Thinking of this he did go very very fast! Of course, the sound of the car could have been enhanced in the studio with more reving and shifting, but they tried to be realistic. C'etait rendez-vous was shot by driving a Mercedes-Benz with automatic gearbox and the sound was then swapped with a Ferrari engine. The Run was an official promo movie, they couldn't do an illelgal street race! If it is too soft for you, I recommend the Getaway in Stockholm series. But you can only compare it with the first film, the others are more highway stuff.
As an older bloke with a family I recently snapped up a mint condition 2007 G35S sedan with the VQ35HR. Has all the practicality but still with the core DNA of what makes these great cars.
+cactpis Thanks for posting. Saved me the trouble of hunting down the DVD I have filed away somewhere around home. This was the video responsible for me wanting a 350Z in Le Mans Sunset for so long. Sadly, I could never afford it back in 2003.

Good Car. Bought a 03 touring in 2005 and just hit 99k and its only been in the shop twice. Once was transmission replaced shortly after I bought it (Warranty covered it). I beefed up the whole drivetrain with NISMO parts the second time it was in the shop the radiator was punctured because a piece of steel went through it.
Yeah. Agreed. But, perhaps there was an agreement with city officials that they could only go full-out on that long straight at the start. And/or they had to go slower on all that cobblestone? [wear 'n' tear; or simply not good traction?]
@@eyesofisabelofficial Yep. Several runs, each with a different camera setup, with and without lead or trailing cars, etc. Prologue said 14 cameras. [because 15 would be too many. j/k]
This movie is horrible. It literally just gave me a headache. Why couldn't they have stuck to just 1 or even 2 shots like the real rendez-vous. They literally change angle every 3 seconds and he not accelerating half the time.
it was pretty good but if it was all shot in one run then how did you get the camera angles from so far behind the and infront of the z...when we saw the zoomed out camera there was nobody in front or behind the car
Several runs with a different camera setup, with and without lead or trailing cars, etc. Prologue says "each take" and 14 cameras. So, while each take was a single run, "one continuous sequence", they did the run a few times with the alternating camera setups [some on a lead car, some on a following car, etc.]
"one continuous sequence in real time", yet, they are actively cutting to shots that show no camera car that was obviously filming the very previous shot...
I watched this because I had watched my DVD of the Rendezvous earlier and did some research which led me here. This one looked like they tried to flash from view to view and use a shaky camera to give the illusion of speed. I would have preferred the camera to always be "eyes forward". And the engine sounded lame. To be fair, it probably did in the original footage of The Rendezvous, but still...
This was timid, imo. I've made more enthusiastic videos with my wife, and all we recorded with was a phone. lol But it seems like despite the resources that went into this, it all came down to the editing. The way the video cut back and forth between cameras, and multiple sequences where there was just no energy... It's as if the material is there, but if you trimmed the boring parts, you'd have a half decent video. I understand this is in a populated city center, but still...
Goes to show you how editing and cinematography make a huge difference in the feel of a film... but I guess some idiot in a suit wanted them to have constant shots of the the product. What a piece of shit compared to the original Rendezvous.
Looks good in numbers and paper specs, but quite disappointing when it's up against other cars. Pretty much how I felt about G37. Rides like a boat and feels sluggish due to heavy weight.
