@ManaCloak As weird as this may sound idk why but seeing everyone saying it's a bee synth then suddenly seeing: bee synth sounds like a fursona it made me burst out laughing lol
I love how even the sound design for this game is that late 90s early 2000s midi electro style that most games had for that era in game. It’s one thing to get the mechanics and visuals nailed for paper Mario, but the devs nailed the sound design and music too which is phenomenal.
Me playing Bug Fables A few hours later: Me fighting a giant mechanical bee while a meltdown happens in a futuristic honey factory powered by an ancient artifact Well, this escalated quickly
Later down the line, after retreiving said artifact, and another one located in a buried sand castle guarded by a mummy with ice powers, you return home only to find its being attacked by an army of wasps. You then have to go through a jungle mixed with a swamp and fight a giant scolipede monster that triggers one of your friend’s PTSD, to infiltrate the was base and take out their king. Instead you realize it was all a mind game and the King is actually back in your town fighting you queen. You try to protect her but the king turns around and immediately trashes you in a single attack, steals all the artifacts your collected, and jumps out the window now possesing the power of reaching a millenary tree that grants immortality to those who bite it.
This was the boss that sold me on how awesome Team Snakemouth had become. The first boss was "just" a spider. The second boss was, despite its imposing size, "just" a test. This felt like the first real challenge in the journey: A killer machine built with some of the most advanced technology available in the land. The music and challenge on Hard Mode really were just right.
This boss was definitely a spike in difficulty for this game. I had to retry several times. The only other boss in similar games (Paper Mario) which ever forced me to retry due to difficulty, was the Shadow Queen in TTYD.
All of the bosses had really pushed me to use my full inventory up until this one, but this was the one that really required me to think up a strategy and use my resources in an intelligent manner. I absolutely love the hard mode in this game.
I pretty much had to rely on Vi's Tornado move to knock this thing out of the air. And then of course, Leif's bubble ability to help whoever was being targeted by the delayed missile.
For me it was to use beemarang, use turn relay from leif to vi, and then use beemarang again and then do power strike with kabbu, when the defense lowered i started doing rang tornado a lot mote
Kabbu's stone REALLY helped win this fight for me, honestly. Tip for future players: It has the same knockdown effect as Vi's beemerang, and allows for more time for Leif to freeze the boss.
I used a tornado strat, by buffing Vi up with Charge. Since at a certain point, each extra attack point becomes +4 damage thanks to tornado toss. (You can find the Charge medal by purchasing the house in the Ant Kingdom by a Bee resident in the hive. It costs a lot, but I loved the strat.)
In comparison to what you had to deal with before not including any mini bosses: Spider: it’s the first boss meant to test you on your use of your three team mates more than anything Guardian: a jump from spider, but can be whittled down thanks to free throwable items and it’s weakness to ice Mecha bee: a defense point, high health, and a powerful second form with a strong special attack, it requires you to be prepared and have some kind of strategy ready at this point
I swear every subsequent boss theme in Bug Fables just gets better and better comparatively and it's amazing. The Megaman X guitar sections are a nice call back to the late 90s era of gaming and it makes some of the bosses even more of an blast to fight
