Gifts of the Plant Nation: Chokecherries

Our summer session of the 2023-2024 season of our Gifts of the Plant Nation webinar series aired on August 20, 2024. This webinar focused on chokecherries, also known as čaŋpa (cha-pa) in the Dakota language.
Our presenters included WTA's Environmental Justice & Stewardship Programs Manager - Jenna Grey Eagle (Oglala Lakota Sioux) and our Restoration Manager - Gabby Menomin (Forest County Potawatomi). We also heard about traditional Lakota uses of chokecherries from Rick Two Dogs (Oglala Lakota Sioux), and Mishaila Bowman (Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota) served as our event moderator.
