Sharay Reed’s solo starting around 1:18:00 is pure groove. The man is a monster on the that bass! A masterpiece. Not to mention holding down the grooves for the entire show.
So true. You just listed the 3 worst things that happened to music. Combined, they allow any talentless hack to have a 'hit record". After all the years of "no musical content" C-rap it is a joy to hear Black Americans making real music. I have missed it, especially all the wonderful singing that came out of Motown way back when
Not because someone uses tracks or sequencing that would mean they can't produce a good show with live instruments on top. Autotune yeah keep that shit out of existence.
All that tech is great stuff. In the right hands it can and does expand the art. But talent-challenged musicians who rely on it for dazzle-dazzle, their thang must be bigger than just the effects. Always.

It’s a lot of bass and drums and organ and keys and guitar and vocals. Don’t act like the bass and drums are the only aspect. Everything going on in that room is the best of the best of the best of the best.
in 2018 I heard this band, on Heartland festival, Denmark. It's one of the absolute best band performances I've ever heard! There are no weak links in the chain. I'm a musician myself, and I just have to take my hat off! I hope to hear them again soon! If you ever get the chance to hear them, don't hesitate.. peace and love
Having seen (as many of you probably have) that video of a young Sharay Reed going next-level in that church over a decade ago, it seems completely unsurprising to see him here with Cory Henry. What a perfect pairing!
I witnessed and experienced this amazing band in Stockholm back in July 2019, together with my son who is a musician, and DAMN how the band rocked. The house was swaying, the music made everyone dance. So funky! Such a great concert! I come back again and again to this concert on UA-cam, and I can listen to the Stayin' Alive track over and over again. It's just such a heavy slow flow funk, so funky I can't walk straight. The instruments coming in one by one, just breathtaking. I love it.
In my 9 years of bass playing hearing the best there is play, i dont think ive ever shed tears hearing a bass being played until this video... I literally shed a tear man because you could feel the vibes of the 60s like you were alive and there loll...
I was raised in a church with some really funky music. The audience was 2/3 black. The music was 90 percent black except for one little white dude named meee. I loved it. I still love it. I learned fantastic rhythm. I believe that god has gifted the black race with musical talent beyond other races. We all have our style but nothing loves in my spirit like black gospel soul Funk blues jazz. I promise you that at some point of my twenty plus years of playing in that church we touched it all. I’m blessed. Play drums like anyone cares. I’m just happy that I was so blessed
For those saying late 70s I was referrring more specifically to the Rollin solo... But i should have said that in the comments so its my fault loll... Great remake of Stayin Alive, this is the first time of hearing him, love the harmonies, this is music and they put in alot of time rehearsing, the arrangement is brilliant.
Man! The homie Nic played an Amazing solo on “1999” but the clueless camera(typical festival camera folks) person only showed him at the beginning… smdh! Beautiful set as always by the Funk Apostles fam!
I am so tired of camera folk or producers who have NO FREAKIN CLUE as to what's going on during live music performances. I think one of the requirements for the job is to never have listened to music or taken a music lesson...and this includes playing air guitar too. SMDH!!!
Since Black bands became extinct in the 90's it's good to see one resurrecting from the dust. And this group is doing it right. They are the best band I've heard in 30 years.
Mainstream yeah but I’ve been following lots of great black bands amd artists. Ben Harper amd the innocent criminals. Robert Randolph and the family band. These guys are insane tho. Best thing I’ve heard in a while.
If YT ever need a reason to REMOVE the dislike button - (what purpose does it serve??) it's this clip. Cory, Nick and crew - you bring light, joy, hope and soul into this world. Love from the S.W. UK.
Honestly, Nick is one of the best keyboardists I've ever seen. Bordering futuristic relative to other players. The amount of expression he gets from manipulating the synthesizer is crazy impressive. It's the sort of stuff hancock/corea did but a lot more refined and tasteful.
De todos os vídeos disponíveis no UA-cam, pra mim este é o melhor, áudio muito bem mixado, tudo em sua frequência, as performances muito boas, muito bem colocado.
I was there - how nice, to find this gem in the net. Frankfurt Jazz Festival always has interesting groups on the schedule. This was a milestone - soooo groovy !

👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
sharay reed is king..
Absolutely 💯
I just fell in love with a black girl. That voice that body that Pink Floyd tee
Wonderful concert !!! Real musicians !! real singers, rare musicians and so precious !! I love you so much !!! Thank you so much !!!
Henry and the folks are so amazing, but that lady in the choirs,,,, That girl has the groove and is sooo talented and beautiful. 👍
SMDH!!!
Dont blame tbe cameramen. They have enough cameras trained at all times. Its the editor you need to talk to
Cory is a genius having sharay reed on his lineup.
Sharay glues it all together.
Great atmosphere + fantastic background voices !!
What a musical treasure! The whole band is killing it! A joy to my ears every time. Thanks for the post Raph!!
That grove at 48:12 is just so sick...Cory's solo is just out of this world! Loved the whole show...on repeat lol
For real thanks for dat. Excellent, amazing. Soul food 😘
Rythm, condensed, concentrated, SUPERB. Thanks for this Raph. From Ica- Perú.
Beautifully done. All the vocalists souls were really dancing and howling that night. Wish I could have been there.
Wow! What a performance! Sharay, the bass player was sick on every groove. Top notch no doubt
If YT ever need a reason to REMOVE the dislike button - (what purpose does it serve??) it's this clip. Cory, Nick and crew - you bring light, joy, hope and soul into this world. Love from the S.W. UK.
Sharay Reed just casually killing it on the bass...
One of the best live performances. That band is perfect, every single person there...great. Thanks for that music!
This is AMAZING! And, an added bonus is that we found Waldo and he plays the keyboard.
haha don't play Nick like that !! stAWp it lol!
Honestly, Nick is one of the best keyboardists I've ever seen. Bordering futuristic relative to other players. The amount of expression he gets from manipulating the synthesizer is crazy impressive. It's the sort of stuff hancock/corea did but a lot more refined and tasteful.
Nick, what? Last name?

This set never gets old. Looovvvee it. Thank you all! Amazing musicians and singers.
Been looking EVERYWHERE for this. Thanks!!!!

Another one here! Finally!
A Beautiful Soulfo Mood with Funk all over the place. A fantastic concert🎹
De todos os vídeos disponíveis no UA-cam, pra mim este é o melhor, áudio muito bem mixado, tudo em sua frequência, as performances muito boas, muito bem colocado.
Como o nome do baxista? sabe?

Nothing beats a hammond b3 in the hands of a master
I won't put him in the same category as Booker T. Jones.
No one can be in the category with Booker T, Melvin Seals. CHURCH
I was there - how nice, to find this gem in the net. Frankfurt Jazz Festival always has interesting groups on the schedule. This was a milestone - soooo groovy !

Bra that level of excellence makes you wanna testify - no shame in that
has some elements of "Mother's Finest"...beautiful
How come I haven't heard of these hombres. The disadvantage of living in New Zealand. Cmon down Cory
Ae me ahau hoki!
Thanks for sharing Raphy. Amazing group. It reminds me of Stop Making Sense by Talking Heads. Thanks again.
