I'm not here to stop you from enjoying your RODE products, however, before you but this Headphone, make sure you do some research as I have bought the NTH-100 (first generation with no mic) and the design is bad for the FitLock system. It will break pretty easy from casual use (I kept mine on a stand and only used them at my desk). Mine lasted for about a month and I had to send them back to the seller and get a refund. Also, if you look into it you'll see this is a very common issue not an isolated case. Even tho RODE offers life time warranty, it is not very practical to send my headphones for a replacement every 1-2 months for the rest of my life...I need a reliable pair as I use them for work and cannot afford to not have them for a couple of weeks while I wait for the replacement. Don't get me wrong, I love everything about these, ear cups material and comfort, design, sound quality, cable entry for both sides, a lot of great things about these... I just simply wish they would address the real issue with these, maybe they did, but from how the design looks it seems the headphone are exactly the same just with a mic added... if that's the case, expect your lock in system plastic to break in about 4-8 weeks (might last longer if you're lucky) Just left this comment here since I would've loved to see this when I was searching on UA-cam for a pair of headphones and thought the Rode NTH-100 was the perfect choice for me.

At first I wailed about having the NTH-100 already, and as I was getting a breath for wail #2 Ryan revealed I can buy the mic standalone. Whew! Outstanding! I can hardly wait to get mine!
Loved the way this is presented, I would've loved to hear a sample recording / audio from the MIC in the video as well since it's also positioned as a studio quality Mic.
Hi R0DE, the friction noise transferred from the cable into the earcup is really terrible. I came from a pair of MDR-7506 that had virtually zero cable noise. The proprietary cable connector also means I can't swap it out for a spiral cable like the MDRs.
@@Zakster90 thanks but I acquired the headphones used without any cables so am seeking the right cable as a replacement but Rode don’t seem to sell the right cable with the extra twist end connection at one end.
Lovely presentation and it looks like a timely product. But if the mic is, as claimed, "broadcast quality," why not just record the whole video with it so that we can hear how it actually sounds?
Firstly, thank you for making the mic available to owners of the NTH-100 headphones. So many other companies would have released a new version of the headphones, and made the mic only compatible with the new product. So kudos for that. Next, great idea and product. I've just ordered the mic. :-)
The cable noise is really bad with this one. I have to overhang the cable in mid air to avoid cable touching my shoulder. This is my first wired closed back headphone. I wonder if all closed back headphone having similar wire issue. I feel much better with senheisser game one openback. Or wireless closed back.
Trying the NTH-100M after having used the Audio Technica BPHS1 and the Shure SM35 headworn mic. I use the latter two with the RodeCaster Pro, and they sound amazing. I wanted something I could take with me. The sound from the NTH-100M mic just doesn’t sound the same. Do you have suggestions for how to improve the sound from this mic? Thanks!

@@PaulLeary I have a nice collection of headphones for studio monitoring but in some podcasts I produce, there’s a camera pointing at the mixing desk I sit at, having a broadcast grade mic on the headphones eliminates the need for a bulky boom arm and mic. This would be the best headphone for me not until the fit locking system snapped. Just like some of you who sometimes wear headphones with one ear on and one ear off maybe that’s why it snapped after using it few months after purchase.
