Southern Californian here, I think when a lot of people think of California, they think it is just beaches and surf, but don’t realize it has a desert that is both beautiful and harsh at the same time. I could feel the struggle as you were dealing with jet lag. ✌️🇺🇸🇬🇧✌️🚴♂️
Blocked by the same fences you were. Then i thought will he be tempted by that sandy shortcut you took a few days later. I think Adam is running bigger tyres though? @Adam rreat video and the jet lag when you fly into LA is killer. Better than being in the UK with the rain beating against the windows!
Hi, Adam. I have been following you for a long time and I just want to say that I feel so happy to see you on the road again. You may read my comment, probably when you are on the road, or at a hotel or perhaps on your tent, and you know, may be you must going through something on your own, I don’t know, all I want to say is be grateful, no matter the situation, you are fortunate enough to ride, you are one of the few lucky ones. You inspire people, you let people experience the love of being on the road, I hope you be gentle with yourself and realize how you are bringing smiles to unknown people just by riding & sharing your experience. You are amazing. Take care. 💫
I've heard about those fences early in that ride. No bueno. I'm in SoCal and will be taking the Amtrak up to Klamath Falls, Oregon, next spring to ride south back home on the US-395. That's been on my bucket list for a while now.
I had a similar experience in Australia. I consumed 6 liters of water by 3 pm, unable to understand why I was so thirsty when the Australian weather wasn't as hot as Vietnam, and I typically didn't drink that much water. No matter how much I drank, my thirst remained unquenched. It took me weeks to realize that cold water was the key; it satisfied my thirst, which was different from Vietnam where ice was readily available and inexpensive. In Australia, ice was scarce, often only found at gas stations. When I returned home, I switched to insulated bottles to ensure my ice-cold water would last for 24 hours. And didnt have carry so much water ..
I do think that would have helped. It’s also the acclimatisation I reckon. Landing in a new country from a cold UK in Oct and being straight in the heat is a lot for the body to process.
I followed all your videos (silently here) from your world trip, you inspired me to go on an adventure of a year as well. Then I watched every other video after your tour as well, admiring your openness and vulnerability. So good to see you back on a bike 🙌
Nearly "doored" in the first 20 seconds of cycling! 😅 That singletrack looks like it'd be great fun on a fairly lightweight setup. Must feel great to get back out there!
Good to see you back on the other side of the pond again on your bike Adam. Have been following you since the beginning. As always, another pure dead brilliant video. Pura Vida!
So great! I love it! I’ve been waiting to see you get back on the bike again! ❤. 🤗. Crazy how you went over that fence. You’ve got bollocks! lol. 😁. Ps: keep a watch for snakes, they are about, in socal! :) a run-in with a rattlesnake might be interesting though! 😊
Aw mate this has sparked my wanderlust. The spot where you put your bike back together at LAX at the beginning looks like the exact spot that me and Tim reassembled ours in 2020 haha. Totally get why you were drawn back there, South-West US was my first bigger trip after the "big trip" as well, albeit unfortunately not a cycling one. Great video, looking forward to the rest of the series!
Thanks Mike. It’s great to hear from you. I’ve done a few local rides but decided not to film them. It feels good to be back on the bike and to make this video series. I’ve missed the creative side.
Amazinbg Video Adam! I remember following your previous trip and being inspired. I have since cycled to istanbul and am prepping to cycle back to the UK from Japan within the next couple of years! Whether you are in Yorkshire or on a bike somewhere, keep being inspiring!
Snickerdoodles apparently are not known much in Britain. lol. It’s a cookie that is make with cinnamon and sugar. And it is SO good when hot and fresh!
Very nicely put and thank you. I’m enjoying the long hair at the moment and whenever I cut it I regret it so I think it’s here to stay for the foreseeable future.
@@AdamHugill hahahah..😂.Cool. i want to say that 2019 after lockdown i watched all ur World Tour videos day by day.& i feel absolutely Loved it. Watching ur life with u being an Army Officer & then a cyclist. I loved those days. Gud to see u back again ❤
What size frame is that bridge club? Iv got one in medium but it’ feels kinda long for my taste they come with a 90mm stem as standard. Seems like the size guide prefers taller riders
Looks like you’re wearing synthetic clothes, loose cotton button dress shirt collects the sweat and cools your body especially with any breeze.I only use synthetic or wool below 50-60f.

You referring to Ronie Coleman 😂
Thanks Ryan. Even though I watched your videos before hand, I was still stumped by the fences near San Diego.
Yeah Buddy!
I was thinking this was the same ride Duzer did. Ha, glad to see you here

When I was cycling in Laos and Thailand last Dec I added a sachet of electrolytes into two bottles per day. Definitely helped!
Great stuff Adam, nice to see you back on the bike!
Hello Adam. Great to see you are out on the bike and touring again 😀

Seems like an awesome challenging trip! The drone shots really show the beauty of the region.
Brilliant video Adam. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

I’m fully with you and love a rest day but this was day one 😩

It’s so lovely to see your comment Linda. I hope all is good with you. I remember seeing your photos of the SW USA. It’s such a beautiful place.
Adam, so nice to see you, back on the bike, wondered whether, we would ever see you do another tour.

That’s awesome. Japan to the UK will be epic. What an adventure!
Yes!!!
I live in the area and have done this route a few times. It is tough heading mostly north.

Yep, first time I’ve heard of a snickerdoodle. I just assumed it would be like a snickers and would contain peanut. Good to learn something new.
Born to travel
Cool Bro!
Looks like you got a new bike???
Born and raised in San Diego; moved to Vegas in 2021.
Getting out of that San Diego conservation park is hard for everyone
Good to see u adam after a very long time. Love ur videos .. Just 1 thing u look great in a haircut mighty consider getting 1 . Peace

I’ve got a medium also. I found the size to fit really well. I’m 171cm so not tall by any stretch.
hydration pak? (I have one that is 70 oz. but some come as much as 100oz.)
Yep, I’ve got a 3 litre hydration pack and 3 litres in water bottles.
When next video
I’ve just spent the last few weeks moving house. It will be on the way soon.
@@AdamHugill when i sold my house last year i moved to a new place only took me 5 mins as i only took my bikepacking. Gear everything else i left lol
Same trail as Ryan Duzor,,
Same way Ryan duzer went
You missed out of the best cycling by not pedaling from LAX to San Diego.
You can always drink your urine Adam . It is safe and actually beneficial .
Is it just me or does this read this in the voice of Patches O’Houlihan from dodge ball 😂
@@AdamHugill Go ahead and laugh my friend. Love ya anyway ❤
Much respect for what you have done.
