Haha xD
I might have said Thursday and Ryan saved me
I think, Adrian was in his natural habitat timezone - and here in Germany it will be... Thursday. :X
@@LPAmdee Well, for us Germans you would be correct :)
We start coverage Wednesday night Starbase time ;)

Godspeed for both vehicles.🚀 Go SpaceX 👍👍🙏
At the very least we should see a completed boostback burn and the ship reaching its target velocity and trajectory. The biggest “if” imho is whether the ship survives atmospheric reentry intact.
Otherwise, I think we’ll see a successful raptor relight on the ship, and a successful booster relight for the landing burn. We’ll probably see a successful booster splashdown too if nothing goes wrong - SpaceX already has lots of experience landing Falcon 9 boosters, and a lot of the techniques behind those landings can carry over to Super Heavy.
Thanks again for the breakdown of changes ahead of flight test 3! Go Starship!
I still think the booster flip and boostback phase has the most variables and is the riskiest.
There’s also the possibility that we got “lucky” on IFT-2, and we may see one or two Raptor failures on the booster, and possibly a more significant issue earlier on with starship.
I hope not (as they’ve undoubtedly got a TON of data which should have showed slight issues that they would have fixed already) but I’m still not super confident.
Given the variables here, I’m hoping that we have at least SOME coverage of the booster and ship splashdowns if they make it that far. Given how critical that phase is for data purposes, I’m sure they’ll have at least a few options for recording things.
@@jessem6124 same, I think many are already losing appreciation for just how complex and massive this rocket system really is (I mean, just a single raptor engine by itself is kinda crazy.)
In my head, I just see millions of parts, insane chamber pressures and turbo pump speeds, enough explosive potential to match a small tactical nuclear bomb, etc.
It’s definitely going to be a nail biter every time for me, at least for quite a while.
Kinda like saying you can power-slide a go-kart so therefore you can just do the same with a two ton Bugatti Chiron Supersport 300+. Maybe you can but those are two very different beasts so it wouldn't be wise to count on it.
Thanks for this excellent review of the improvements.
Thank you Adrian, great video!!
Looking forward to the launch and NSF's stream, no matter when it occurs. Thank you for explaining the differences between IFT2 and IFT3 flights.
Very nice presentation Adrian. Clear and full of uncluttered detail. Thank you.
Very good summary of the updates! Thank you!
24 hours away! will be fun seeing a sunrise launch of starship
Should launch at night.
If only they could launch a little earlier, imagine the hot staging with twilight effect!
Ok,correct me if im wrong, but I don't think the FAAs given the green light yet
@@Freshwaterboythey probably will in the future
Weather looking good for tomorrow’s Launch 🚀
Great video! Hope this launch goes well!
COMEEEEE ONNNN LAUNCCHHHH LICENCEEEE! i AM HYPED FULLY AND OFF WORK THURSDAY AND FRIDAY!
Great video Adrian!
What’s really impressive is how committed everyone who works at Space X is, regardless of their role, how else do you explain just how quickly they’ve managed to turn things around.
Best of luck guys 👍
Has FAA issued permit? Seems tight !!!
Not yet. It will come probably today or tomorrow.
[E] Nevermind, licence given.
If it doesn't come today (Wednesday 13th) there won't be any launch on Thursday.
As of today yes
Rest assured
The permit was issued and signed today on 2024.03.13.
Sooooo ready for the launch! Been following spacex's progress since star hopper
Thank you NSF for this informative summary! Who's ready to light this candle?!?!
Great upload and info exactly as I wanted thank you
Great details! Thanks!

Thanks Adrian and NSF team. The pics and flight 2 footage were awesome. Good luck for more amazing video and pics.
Ok I'm here, it can launch now.

I love that theyve upgraded communications, I was def missing on board video during flight 2
More learning in store for SpaceX. KaBoom!

on youtube you have "trance energy 2007" intro ... you could listen to that during the launch .
The immensity of it.
FAA license for IFT3 was granted 4:50PM CDT. Tomorrow is on. I have comment on "Second Pad Concept Art" (3:12). It shows a second pad and second tower west of the first. My guess is that SpaceX will only build the tower. This will be used for demonstrating "the catch" without endangering the launch pad, which is much more complex, and the nearby tank farm. Once caught, the Super Heavy booster can be set on top of a self-propelled modular transporter and moved into one of the manufacturing bays for examination and refurbishment.
My prediction for flight 3 will be booster rud on landing burn and ship rud on reentry
Sounds about right. How far down do you expect the orbiter to get?
@@rogerphelps9939 reentry, I think it will fail to survive reentry
@@rogerphelps9939
I'll guess 60-80 kilometers
Hi Adrian, great video! Tip for future videos: vehicle is pronounced VEEhicle, with stress on the first syllable. 👍
Anyway, I hope Starship makes it to re-entry!
Fingers crossed for success
7:04 don't Adrian mean total propellant time is 49:30 not 39:30, or did I misunderstand something?
didn't know this was a German channel. good on you
Could the fact that the ship is higher be also a reason that it takes longer to fill?
Because of the greater hight, there would be more pressure required to lift the fuel compared to the booster
Godspeed IFT3!
Interesting the ship fuels before the booster, given the structural integrity provided by full tanks.
I think they start the ship load a few minutes ahead as the booster fills faster which means they will both finish at the same time.
but the CH4 begins loadin just a second or two behind and then loads faster. I had the same reaction you did though.
9hrs and mins to go !!!
There are probably fewer pumps on ship. However, even if they both had the equal number of pumps, ship would still be slower due to more head pressure from the extra vertical height. It takes more power to pump fluid higher.
Nice cut-in audio edit, "Wednesday". Had a _The Simpsons_ feel to it. Good luck with the coverage tomorrow.
Does starship have a simulated payload on it or are they just launching empty without any weight added?
Valid question as last time problem was not having any payload to consume all juices and kaboom came
They changed something with the header tank for this launch, but I would at some point expect them to launch with a full simulated payload weight before they send real stuff up. I'm sure it makes a huge difference in performance considering every oz counts. @@mikakettunen7939
Have Spacex got any assets or agreement in place to monitor the ship landing/crash area?
Good question - you'd think they'd have 'eyes' pre-positioned at both sites...
I was just wondering that, I’m not exactly sure how they’d handle this, given the variables involved with the splashdown zones.
What a silly question. Of course they have. You don't invest as much as SpaceX has without spending a bit extra to find out precisely what went wrong.
The middle of the Indian ocean is a quite remote location, and there is an exclusion zone for human safety, as it is very possible that the ship breaks apart on re-entry. Even unmanned drones would have to cover quite the distance to be able to film the event. So we might simply not get a video feed of the crash area, unfortunately.
They are hoping to live stream from the starship over Starlink.
Juicy tank farm
Has anyone said if we're to expect video on the SS re-entry from ship or air based platforms? With re-entry blackout, I assume some sort of visual/IR will be needed to verify it doesn't burn-up mid-entry...?
There might be some views from the cameras on the ship like what we had with SN 8-15. Starship should try to connect with Starlink to send data to the control rooms.
Win one for the Gipper
Do they have a launch permit yet?
If the header fuel transfer is not successful, does that mean they will not be able to preform a landing burn or flip maneuver?
Probably
They wont be doing one anyway.
i don't think so, during the landing burn the propellant inside the header tank doesn't need to be transferred into the main tank i think
Hey NSF may you ask Elon, if have an opurtunity, what would be the payload capasity of this exact starship stack. Probably less than original guess because it is not yet mass/efficient optimized but how much less?
What will local time be in South Africa as Starship flight 3 flies over Africa, assuming the currently planned launch time?
There is a 7 hour time difference from Boca Chica, Texas to South Africa. So if starship launches at 7:30 am it would be over South Africa soon after 3pm. The total flight time is about an hour. The big IF is if it launches at that time as numerous circumstances could delay it.
kaboom is more than likely end point for either booster or starship
i have high hopes for the booster but i'm not fully convinced that it's going to make it back down in one piece. the ship on the other hand, i think it's likely that they've solved the previous problems and it will make reentry.
10:13 The animation implied a transfer from the main tank to the header tank - I doubt that is what they will do. I think it is the opposite.
@@mrandersen6872reading comprehension is hard bro
@@iamaduckquack i just woke up, leave me alone 😭
Adrian - we're over here →
So if the flight goes perfectly, but during the flight a single raptor engine unexpectedly goes out yet it is handled exactly as predicted, would that generate another FAA incident reporting investigation delay?
Will the second tower be taller? Will the Starship QD be vertically movable to accommodate the next generation?
Everything I have heard is that the second tower will be the same height. This is also based on the tower sections built at Starbase or those en route or still at the Cape. Regardless, it will be 18 months or so before it's built.
I think IFS-3 will be a complete success
You are even more unrealistically optimistic than Musk. Most of his utterances do not age well.
My guess is that SpaceX is hoping to have Starship splashdown close to Diego Garcia so either an American or Ally Ship can sink it, before someone else can get their hands on it.
My guess is that almost all objectives will be completed except Starship landing. There's a high chance that heat tiles will fall off over the jurney and the Starship will not survive re-entry.
👍👍👍
Prediction? Superheavy will work properly until landing burn and will crash rather than set down gently.
WHAT TIKE TOMORROW WILL IT HAPPEN?
TOO much pain to tolerate
FAA approval?
Its the detonation suppression system, not firex.
Same thing. The Fire X suppresses the detonation.
@@michaeldeierhoi4096 they are seperate systems.
I just need an hour when will it launch i have the date I need the time!

Its amazing just how many rockets are navigated towards Australia to die...
Did he say "detonation sopression " ? I hope that wasn't a jinx.
alarm set. gonna be a morning launch again. ofc. gotta see where it's going. i think the shorter flight profile is absolutely doable. i hope they got the sloshing figured out. get this booster in the reverse gear and soft land it. hmmhmm
The Booster will landing in Gulf of Mexico and the S29 not survive the reentry.
i hop i can see the flight.
Wheres the launch license?

So is Jack currently paddling out into the Indian ocean with his kayak?

There is no plural to cross bracing. It's just cross bracing.
Looks like another investor `were doing something honest ` showcase , no payload , no landing ?
They need to use a baby plush baby Seal for payload 🎉
(Different voice) Wednesday! (resume voice)
My guess is booster makes it to splash down. Starship fails on reentry.
FAA, show me you're paperssssss!
24h away from launch and no launch license ? Should we get worried ?
I guess if they get the lisence like 2 hours before launch, them planning to launch when they want to, would mean they are already ready to then just go ahead
@@Anymal104 yeah but that still seems tight if they need to get road closure and weather confirmation
oh yeah very true@@nexyr_
@@nexyr_ Road closure is already planned and announced. Weather is likely predicted to be acceptable, but you never know before the day comes. The launch license isn't needed until takeoff, but I doubt they would start the propellant load until they get it approved.
@@LaughingOrange oh ok I didn't for the road closure. And it's sure that they won't launch even if they can, without a launch license

Im thinking why not just leave the front dented damaged tanks where they were and just place new tanks at the back, the old tanks could be the protection. save having to reinforce the ones behind..
They have limited space, they already placed new things in the places of the old tanks
What if they break and collapse and damage something in the process of collapsing?
@@vatyunga you could say that about any of the tanks lol
👍👍👍🇮🇳
My cynical, unqualified, armchair-engineer side thinks there'll be structural failure of the Starship hull due to the payload bay's overly-generous span along the ship's cross-section. This will be the first launch where the door isn't welded shut, so I'll be biting my nails during max Q.
Nice weirdo foreigner accent, it kinda sounds German or briadly Scandinavian... it's adorable and not standard revolting mouth-breather noise, especially not from england(although he does employ their trademark overuse of suffix in redundant places, just like everyone else who uses the mouth to breathe).
Thanks for your hard work 🖖🏼
That is definitely a German accent there.
KA-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM !!!!!!!!!!!
can anyone tell me whats the point of propellant transfer and hoping for launch tommorow
They're going to have to transfer fuel from one vehicle to another, in space, during future missions. Essentially, this is still a tank to tabk transfer, it's just happening within the same vehicle. It's more about proving that a cryogenic liquid can be moved in space from one tank to another.
