If all these companies would tell the truth, DEI and ESG is crushing their business. Putting games on all platforms is a start but If they go back to what they were doing before this nonsense happen they would really see a change. I just don't know why it's taking your going company losing millions and going bankrupt to see what's wrong.
When it comes to FF7 specifically, I don’t think that game exists without Sony, so it made sense Sony has the exclusivity. As far as I’m aware they needed Sonys funding for remake, and Sony also co-funded the original FF7 as well. More generally speaking multi platform is the best idea but for FF7 it’s actually pretty generous of Sony that they ever get to release that on other platforms eventually. Their investment was significant.
I enjoyed the story and the main beats of FF7 Rebirth but the open world was a slog, with the only exception being Gilgamesh. Also, duh. Square should have known that only releasing on PS5 was going to doom Rebirths sales.
They should have been multi plat since the beginning. When they dropped FF1-12 on the switch eshop many people played them for the 1st time. Reduce budgets, DEI and release it on xbox and PC.
Sony fans love bragging about exlcusives until it comes time to actually buy them. In house studios for exlcusives makes sense, not SE. This is a great move and should of been done a while ago, watch the sales spike from PC sales like it always does and they'll see how stupid the Sony seal was.

Changing the story and the multiverse nonsense in FF7 Remake put me off. That’s why I didn’t buy Rebirth. Just waiting until it’s free on PS Plus, I can wait.

Final Fantasy is turn based combat. It's longtime fans are not looking to buy an action RPG when they buy FF. Why is FF7 Afterbirth an action RPG? Who TF thought that was a good idea?
The disease here is sony. They infect all these games during development. Also rebirth was a boring experience. I bought the game at launch and I still have not completed it. They are trying to hard to pander to the isms. The result is a boring, bloated, unappealing product. Square enix needs to stop listening to the likes of Sony and consultants. It also needs to get rid of this exclusivity nonsense. Rebirth is just not worth the time. I'm spending more time playing Tekken 8 and recently stellar blade and stellar blade is alot of fun.
Cut all ties to anything DEI & ESG related. That's when I will believe these game dev company.
