The Rime of the Ancient Mariner off this same album. Strap in and get ready for a journey! A long song but so worth it! As always a great reaction and spot on analysis! This gives you a taste of what they are capable of, but like you say still a little radio friendly outside of the length but Rime is a whole other beast and the Bass is sick in it! When I saw you were doing Maiden again I couldn't get here fast enough!!
Best. Band. Ever. Period.... Try any from "Somewhere In Time" album like "Deja Vu", "Wasted Years", "Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner", "Alexander the Great" whole album is my favorite... But so is all of the album "Powerslave" and whole album of "Piece of mind" with songs like "To Tame a Land" and "Quest for Fire"... And the whole album of "7th Son of a 7th Son" with the title track etc etc...
I would die happy if they ever play Alexander the great live and its filmed....weird they never have.

from this album - do POWERSLAVE. Holds the test of time very well.
For me the powerslave album was the pinnacle for iron maiden’s studio work.
For something that’s not on everybody’s maiden list is Moonchild off seventh son of a seventh son album.
Ahhh, you're going to love the solo section in "Caught Somewhere in Time", with it's transition between Dave and Adrian's solo.
Powerslave is one of my all time favorite Maiden albums! Everything on that album is awesome. The Duelists being possibly my favorite overall track on there. Seriously though, save yourself some time wondering & just jam this whole album! And Powerslave was originally released in 1984, you have a late 90's re-release. I love this album so much I was contemplating airbrushing the cover on the hood of my truck at one point! LOL!

For that old-school, pumping style of bassline, there's no one better in rock than Steve Harris.
"Run to the hills" and "The Trooper" are great and usually the first songs mentioned when talking about iron maiden, together with "Hallowed Be Their Name" and "The Number Of the Beast ".
You definitely will like Songs like "Aces High", "Rhyme Of The Ancient Mariner", "Caught Somewhere In Time" or "The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner"... And so many more to choose from 😂

Another great song by Iron Maiden. They're such a great band. Their song have great lyrics and great music with great transitions in tone and tempo. I love them and I have most of their albums.

2 Minutes to Midnight was the first Iron Maiden song I ever heard. The second was Aces High, so maybe try that one? There are SO many good options though.
With this song I loved Iron Maiden. I first heard it on the radio V-Rock in the game GTA Vice City)
Dude, the drumming, the decrescendo and crescendo, the bass, that crashing sound (I have no idea what that was, but it was awesome) and that opening!!!!!! I never knew I needed an Iron Maiden song until now!!! Can't wait for your next video guys!

Love that u guys did this song! It's awesome that u caught how the music changes during the solo sections. They did that purposely to showcase that it's 2 different guitarists. The 1st half is Dave's solo & then when it switches to the halftime feel it moves over to Adrian. Keep up the great work gents!

Ok from watching you guys for awhile here is the next 3 Maidens you should go
1. Hallowed Be Thy Name Live 1982. Wins essentially every poll as best Maiden song. Many consider it the best Metal song ever.
2. Rime of the Ancient Mariner, I would go lyric vid so miss none of the story. About 14 minutes long and based off the classic Samuel Taylor Coolidge 18th century poem.
3. Phantom of the Opera. Off the first album with Dianno there first lead singer. The bass in this song is killer.
Up the Irons.
Aces High and 2 Minutes to Midnight go hand in hand. Tracks 1 & 2 from arguably their best album. Definitely from their best period 1980-88
If you want to check out some of Maiden's newer stuff (by which I mean post-2000), I would recommend:
Paschendale (from the Dance of Death album in '03)
The Red and the Black (from the Book of Souls in '15)
The Longest Day (from A Matter of Life and Death in '10)

Just started listening to Iron Maiden again, so hope you get around to Fear of the Dark (do the official video, which is from the live album 'A real live one', it's alot better than the studio version).

"To Tame a Land" is incredible off of Piece of Mind. Guitars, bass, vocals and switch up.. just awesome. I was in Jr. High school and this song actually got me into reading classic literature. Yes, Iron Maiden, and their lyrics got me into reading the classics. So much for the narrative of heavy metal being a bad thing. Have followed them faithfully for 30yrs. I owe them my success in life... and mainly due to this song. Not sure if you will see this since it is older... but yeah!
Just saw Maiden again last week (Bristow, VA). They may be getting on in years, but you wouldn't know it from the performance. And yeah they played this, it was spot on.

This is even better live...it really does hit you hard and it's a crowd favourite well at least it is here in the UK.....a different request for you NIGHTWISH - GHOST LOVE SCORE (LIVE AT WACKEN 2013)...you will not believe the vocals of Floor Jansen...she is just incredible and honestly one of the tightest bands i've heard live

New subscriber here. You guys are college students and you’re listening to a lot of songs that I listened to as NEW songs when I was a college student way back when. It’s been really cool seeing your reactions. I’d recommend Iron Maiden’s “Wasted Years”...one of the coolest opening guitar licks of any song ever.
Powerslave is my favourite Iron Maiden album, and that's an extremely high bar, because they've made something like 5 of the top 10 best albums ever.
One of the really cool things about Maiden songs is that the bass line tells you exactly where you are in the song. If you listen to just the isolated the bassline, you can hear the whole song because there's no doubt where in the song you are.
Wasted Years has to be one of their best.
You really need to listen to some early Maiden. "Killers" would be great ! From the 2nd release. Album cover is insane !
Not really a "later" song. Run to the Hills is off of Number of the Beast, 1982. The Trooper is off Piece of Mind, 1983. This is from Powerslave, 1984. Those are also the first three albums with Bruce Dickinson as lead singer. For the next song... As several others have said, Rime of the Ancient Mariner is amazing, especially if you like the poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge! My favorite, and it may be because it's the first song I ever heard from Maiden, will always be Number of the Beast. I remember the friend who introduced me to them dropping the tape in my Walkman and cranking the volume to the max for that intro!
Hahaha, The trooper and Run To The Hills were my first Maiden songs as well, and in that order! They appeared on one of those Canadian music compilations from K-Tel Records.
The Trooper was on Masters Of Metal Volume 1 (closing out the album) and Run To The Hills was the opener for Masters Of Metal Volume 2.
My first official Iron Maiden album was this one featured here (Powerslave), and so my 3 IM song was the album opener, Aces High - also an instant fave. But it wasn't long til the whole album became a fave.

Check out the live version of The Clansman from Rock in Rio, song was written when bruce had a break from the band with Blaze Bayley on vocals , but bruce was back and singing in the live version and its amazing!

Hey guys I love the channel. On the guitar solo difference is because Maiden has 2 guitarists. Dave Murray plays first part of solo and Adrian Smith plays second part of solo.

One of my favourites and one of the few my wife really likes. The first time I saw Maiden she came along and she loved that they played this and Fear of the Dark!
This was not made in 1998. It was put out in 1984 one year after Piece Of Mind. I was 5th row for this concert in Portland when Twisted Sister opened for them. It's not just a concert, they put on a high energy show.
Do the live version of "Hallowed Be Thy Name," from Hammersmith 1982 next. It will blow your freaking minds!!

I seen Iron Maiden back in the early 1980' s at Lakeland Civic center in Florida it was a great concert loud ain't the word for it !
Blood brothers from the Brave New World album is just epic and Janick Gers guitar solo is to die for. It was written by the bassist and band leader Steve Harris after the death of his father it is simply sublime

Paul Di'Annio, Dave Murray ( lead guitar ), Dennis Stratton ( lead guitar ),
Steve Harris ( bass guitar ) and Clive Burr ( R.I.P. on the drums)
Definitely worth checking out, this era of Maiden doesn't get quite as much love as the Bruce Dickinson era stuff, but they still perform quite a bit of these songs live with Bruce to this day.
Don't sleep on early Maiden, you're definitely missing out on some great music if you do!

How about Nightwish, Greatest Show On Earth, live at Tampere 2015? Even Iron Maiden's bass dude, Steve Harris, said that Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish is a frigging musical genius! That's a big statement!

All the songs mentioned in the comments so far are pretty obvious. I'd suggest 'Phantom of the Opera' next, as it's pretty different from the Maiden songs you've listened to so far.
Powrslave album is Power Metal in his own package ! in global better than all previous albums, but they did it even better with Somewhere In Time 1986 & Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 1988

Nice and fair review of the song. This song was played in the radio, but it was played at the late hours. At least from where I'm from though. It was never played at day time. I like to get you guys deep into Maiden and have you guys to listen to a song from Piece of Mind album. To Tame a Land. Believe me, it has everything that you guys will really appreciate of a Maiden song or maybe Prodigal Son from Killers album

I remember joining a "pen-pal" type of thing except it was music exchange (cassette tapes) with people from England. Iron Maiden never got play on FM RADIO here and the 1st we heard of them and Def Leppard was from English bootlegs and what's now referred to as illegal copies.
It was 1984 from the album Powerslave. The 1998 version is remastered CD with extra features.
You must react to the studio version of Iron Maidens: Rime Of The Ancient Mariner off the Powerslave album.
For your next Maiden song I would recommend either Powerslave, The Clairvoyant, or The Dance of Death.
Great Reaction guys gotta love Iron Maiden. For your live Wednesday I'd love to see you do a triple header all from the same show. They are Growing Up, Downside Up and Solsbury Hill from Peter Gabriel's Growing Up tour. Still to this day the best live show I've been to.
