Also Shack you NEED desperately to reinforce the maw, and I mean reinforce it HARDCORE, with a full fleet and maxed Golan platforms. The rebels or Black sun will attack you there in several weeks and they will bring a massive fleet around 2-3 fleetcap in size. It is scripted so they will hit the maw whether you defend it or not and they ignore hyperlanes. If you lose that mission you're in big trouble for the rest of the series so I highly recommend reinforcing it

Yeah, I was listening to him in the background, and the second I heard him send them to the Maw I laughed out loud. Probably that whole sector will be lost when he loses it.
Edit: The only way he wins would be by rushing Vader's fleet straight there, beating every orbital battle in the way and not stopping to capture any planets. Otherwise, I don't think he has any time left to even build a Golan 3.

Best build up the space defenses of The Maw. Even on recruit difficulty setting, the scripted battle that takes place there is pretty hard.
Don’t sell your units once you’ve come under attack (when the battle/autoresolve selection comes up). It makes the AI think that you autoresolve all defensive battles and automatically selects that every time you come under attack

I'd like to suggest you secure Denon. The system sits in an intersection between trade routes and would allow the quick movement of resources between our holdings in the galactic south and the core, and stands in the way of known hubs of recividist activity. Right now Denon is controlled by a sovereign corporate authority that has pledged loyalty to the Empire, however, so aditional political measures are perhaps required.
As for your other query, major planets with the moniker "four" are exceedingly common since the third and fourth planets on most systems are the most likely to fall within the so-called "goldilocks zone" of habitability, resulting in rich, fertile worlds that can be settled by most humanoid species without dedicated infrastructure.

21:55 Damn, the Wheel has a strong defense fleet. I do remember that in the EU they were neutral but the Empire eventually takes control because the administrator (who was a former Senator) helped Princess Leia. So in this playthrough, it appears that the administrator (probably a different one) was an agent of Black Sun, and once their corruption was found out, they summoned a fleet of Black Sun warships to defend their holdings

Imp Rep 8 - Despite the capture of the Wheel, not much as gone well of late, and nearly all of that has been away from Lord Vader's forces... though it would appear that not even that has spared Lord Vader from the Emperor's rage.
The start of this came with the fall of Naboo. Reports indicate that the Rebels arrived with a fairly substantial fleet supported by various starfighter squadrons. And while Moff Panaka had promised massive increases in defense spending to fortify the Emperor's homeworld, little appears to have actually been done. There was only a small garrison, which to their credit did take out a few squadrons of Rebel fighters. Personally, I would hold that as a testament to the abilities of our pilots, as intelligence from the Battle of Yavin would indicate that the main Rebel X-Wing, despite its insane cost compared to a TIE, is qualitatively better in a one-to-one comparison. The fact that the Naboo garrison managed to destroy at least one squadron of these fighters, in addition to some other Rebel squadrons is impressive.
Though, it would likely be the ground fight that followed. The Rebels landed with a decent sized force, and this included the treacherous Leia Organa. Somehow, she appears to have won the support of some local people and the surviving Gungans and then called in another Imperial Army traitor. Our forces had decent air cover, but the TIE pilots couldn't even defeat their air speeders and then the holo waves were then flooded with the former Alderaanian Senator's voice saying that the people of Naboo would now know freedom. The Princess certainly has some attitude on her, and I have records that my predecessor kept that attested to this... though it would seem that he was also smuggling these reports to her and that explains how she escaped on the Death Star... and why my predecessor fell out of an airlock.
The loss of Naboo has naturally enraged the Emperor who spent the past hour berating Lord Vader for his failures, and I believe I heard the mention of someone named "Padme" at least once. The shocking thing was that Lord Vader seemed to take this berating with some measure of calm and he did not mention it as the fleet then moved from the Wheel back to the Core... likely as part of orders from the Emperor to liberate his homeworld from Rebel tyranny... It's something that I've never seen Lord Vader look so... passive on...But he said nothing to me, and we soon engaged another splinter faction in the core, where we wait to take the ground there.
The next report of bad news came at Aridus, where we had held successfully, had put out several defense turrets and had a Juggernaut on standby. We were in position to hold again, or at least bloody the Rebels for their boldness. However, the garrison fleet retreated at the sight of an old Republic Venator and the ground garrison surrendered without a fight. This came more to anger Lord Vader, and he has offered a request that the ISB look into the activities of one Admiral Shed, under suspicion of passing information on to his brother, who supposedly commands that Republic Venator... How well this may go, I'm not sure, as the Emperor may still be more enraged at the loss of his homeworld than the loss of Aridus. - Ensign Iam Minion.

If this will help Shack out for future engagements for playing the empire, Rebel Bulk Cruisers (all types) are fighter screener class ships. The fight on Naboo went south so quickly because he parked all his starfighters right over that Bulk Cruiser 😆Also Gonzanti Ships are really good at fighter screening, especially against unshielded starfighters.

Its really not that bad with a little investing and prep done. A full sized standard shipyard, one tier 3 golan, the ships already in the nearby systems, and a few extra victorys/dreads/carracks that you can build in system to pad it out and its pretty manageable on hard as long as you target prioritize correctly and don't get distracted counting tie fighters or something silly.

My head cannon for the Vulpter battle was that the Empire demanded that Vulpter be controlled by an Imperial Governor. They accepted, but when the fleet arrived, they were fired upon. The Imperial Governor, who was onboard the ISD, panicked and ordered a retreat, greatly overstating the force he was up against as well as how much he attempted to fight. Maybe he even said he took losses. He requested assistence, Vader was the only fleet available. So, Vader has to travel halfway across the galaxy to help, he finds a pitiful defense fleet, crushes it, and then force chokes the governor for lying,

I may be mistaken, but last I remember selling off all your stuff and auto resolving tends to bug out the next battle afterwards, there that battle is auto resolved regardless of what you choose.
The trick as far as I know is that you can still sell off all your stuff, but choose start rather than auto resolve. That way it still skips the battle, since you have no defenses, and you don't get the bug on the next one.

"I saw... What I saw was terrifying! Dozens, maybe even hundreds of cobbled together fighter squadrons systematically obliterating the Naboo defence fleet! By the time the news had reached us the ground invasion had already begun, dozens of security personnel mercilessly slaughtered..." Beady shuddered, the reports of the aftermath still plagued his mind.
"The sooner these rebellions and crime lords are dealt with the sooner we can get back to protecting the citizens of these worlds without constantly putting our lives on the line. It's beginning to take it's toll on the other pilots.
"We're still safe at least, for now. We've just finished a raid on an illegal smuggling operation based in the vicinity of the Wheel, and we're just beginning to prep for a jump towards Vulpter, I think the plan is to break through the various blockades and dissident factions to link up with the surviving forces from Naboo and liberate the planet. I just hope we make it there before the situation gets any worse..."

    Death squadron log:
This disappointment that filled me when I saw my prey running was something I thought I would never recover from, the force prove foolish once again. The Wheel, that's a name I'm going to cherish for years, such a gigantic and imposing figure, and it's numerous turrets, oh those turrets, put together with the those poor souls that attempted to stand in our way, it made for such a magnificent battle, a conflict I would never forget. Vulpter was unfortunately not as great. The defences were miniscule, our forces were overwhelming, it was a one sided slaughter. Not this doesn't have it's merits. Seeing those helpless ships being destroyed by three whole Star destroyers had a strange, calming yet enthusiastic beauty. As much as I hate to admit, another highly of recent days was the Stations and Rancors game I had with the others. The feeling of joy I felt, it made me feel so disgusted with my self. 501st Journal
Week 48 - Orbit of Vulpter
    TK-2401 - Pvt. Kale - Triton Squad
    "Growing Rebellion"
Over the last two months we've become aware of growing rebellions in the Outer-Rim regions. Aridus has fallen, the cowardly local commander betraying the Empire by essentially handing over our holdings for an influx of credits from the rebellion. Now his troops will most likely rot away on a prison station instead of fighting this infectious rebellion. Unfortunately Aridus wasn't the only world to fall to the cursed rebels. The Emperor's own home world of Naboo has also risen up against him. Again.
The local Naboo and native Gungans joining with the rebellious Princess Leia. Thankfully the Imperial commander didn't shame the Emperor more by just handing over his men and materials. Instead choosing to stand his ground, sadly it wasn't enough. He was overwhelmed and the imperial base was destroyed. The rebels ransacking the planet for good measure as a another sting to the Emperor. Good loyal imperial citizen were dragged into the streets to be left at the mercy of vile, merciless rebels. Even the Emperor himself is not immune to the horrific effects of this war. Just like the rest of us. When the Empire returns, when hopefully the 501st returns, we'll ensure every loss is repaid ten times over for this betrayal.
For now our anger must be directed towards the growing rebellion on Vulpter. One of the worlds that was preparing to aid in Chandrila's Core rebellion. Word is the rebels forces massing against us is substantial. This! This is how our tolerance and mercy is always rewarded! With rebellion! We will not permit any of these traitors to see the next sunrise on this world. Having served alongside the Imperial aligned Tanarithians and witnessed their brutal suppression of their own home world's rebellion, we will bring that same fire to Vulpter, and every other rebellious world.
Until this rebellion is crushed and we can finally have peace and order once more. For the Emperor. For the Empire. For the Galaxy.

Have being playing in the bigger map for some time and it looks like, over all, the rebels have an easier time unlike the empire compared to the old map. Mon Cala mission is easier to do as the Maw is always a pain to secure. For the empire now to do the Death Star mission you need to hit Hut territory, which will aggro them.
Also I feel your frustration about Ion cannons, in my rebel campain the empire just put a lot of planetary turbolasers everywhere in the core, I literaly have to send Kyle Katarn with other units to raid every planet they could and send stealth units behind to destroy those things before my fleet arrives.

  • @benlyon5118

ECONOMY: Your economy is far behind where it should be. Vulpter is a good start and there are two mining worlds lightly defended to the west. A level 2 Outpost is the only thing needed to defend high-value worlds against raids, no troops "need" to be stationed on back line worlds. Most safe worlds can also get 2 customs buildings which also give bonuses to freighters, which you should have a handful of by now. Governor buildings on non-mining worlds will also give freighter bonuses.
THE MAW: A large, scripted fleet will attack the Maw and you will only get 1 ISD and 1 Victory to help you. Losing this mission will screw your campaign, so unfortunately you will have to DUMP credits there.
CORELLIAN SHIPS: I believe you need to tech 4 (post death star tech?) to get Corellian ships, might be wrong on this one.
INFANTRY: any infantry dedicated building worlds should get the small arms warehouse, though I guess you don't really have the money to keep the queue stacked yet.
GROUND AIR: The AI goes ham with AA turrets, they're difficult to use effectively with early tech.
ISOLATED WORLDS: The AI will hit with stacks of capital ships, almost no planet cut off from your fleets can be held in space. Holding hyper lane planets can be done on the ground, and the AI will sometimes leave entire fleets there while they build up armies, making it a worthwhile use of credits.
MID GAME: Corellia is connected to Coruscant and Kuat is your main capital hip production. Both will eventually be attacked. If you want to defend them, you will need the HPV cannon, large defense fleet, and a couple Golans, and also cash for upgrades and turrets.
NEUTRAL PLANETS: Neutral planets rarely, if ever, attack. White planets almost never GET attacked. Denon made it almost 300 weeks before I took it. Vulpter should be safe for quite a while.
STEALTH SHIPS: Aeten 2 lets you build 5 TIE Phantoms, which are very fast stealth ships that turn any "go to X planet" into quick, free money.
DESTROYING BUILDINGS: go for it. No one would be surprised by the Empire destroying infrastructure on a planet they are going to lose. Even if you build HPV cannons on isolated worlds, you can destroy them once they overwhelm your space defenses.
MILAGRO: super defensible, friendly civilians, merc building, large turrets by road. Get a shield first, then upgrade outpost, then turbos. Fully upgraded, you can pin them at the corner of the road between 2 turbos, a bunker turret, and tons of free militia. I've destroyed 50+ infantry plus armor and air on that planet.
FIGHTING STYLE: LOL, I won't tell you how to fight, everyone has their own style. I just have bad luck with Lancers. They're like the hamsters of space ships to me. Every time I turn around, I lose one. Rebels slip dp-20s past my lines, pirates hit me from behind, space whales kamikaze, random built laser in the corner I didn't notice.

Some say we lost too many ships to count, others say it was a pyhrric victory for the rebels... frankly, this whole "rumor" and "word of mouth" schtick gets confusing sometimes. Hell, even Foulke, the guy who seemingly knows at least one guy in every planet didn't even know Naboo was attacked until I told him.
We took the wheel a few days after. The whole squadron bagged a few more kills after last time. The new girl, Rienn? Yeah, she got some action. Vicke drew the short straw and stayed behind. He's still pissed about it, missed out on at least 4 kills per squadron member. The stations moved in only a few hours after the battle, after all, command wanted an offensive into the galactic east, as how Parrel told us.
Rather unfortunately, we didn't get time to enjoy the accommodations around the casino before we'd be sent back to the Core. Vulpter... I hear rebel forces that were s'posed to head on over to Chandrila were just piling up out there. Waiting for us in orbit was what looked like an old CIS ship given it's look. Death squadron made short work of it though. The 457th and other TIEs just had to mop up what's left.
We're waiting for reinforcements to come as I speak. Apparently, the rebels actually have a pretty large army waiting for us down there. We've flown a number of stealth scouting missions onto the surface and let me tell you, it's gonna be one hell of a fight.

17:35 Shack you can easily send forces down to assist against that rebel fleet in the south. You have unused ships over Foerost and Byss that could group up and blitz through Abredgado-Rae's space and link up with Fondor, Ghorman, and Thyferra's scattered ships to take Yag'dhul and link up with Ozzel. Not only would it be easier than you think, it would be the fastest method of reinforcing that region compared to literally any other option available. This is the exact method I employed to link up the core to mid rim, and mid rim to the outer rim and it was super easy.
For the next few episodes you really ought to focus on your economy as you'll start falling behind soon if you don't. I don't get why you've spent all this time using Vader to push on the wheel when there's better targets for your long term campaign like Vulpter and Ord Mantel.

Denon has a global unit discount, wish I'd taken it earlier in my campaign.
Holding The Southern fleets bases near where MoffJerjerod is also really important as there are some new, bad for the empire, scripted events down there.... won't say any more until you stumble into them :)
I found I was really on the defensive until I was able to get up to around 30,000 a week income. Building Customs stations everywhere in my backline really helped early on.

build at least 1 advanced fighter dockyard on one planet in the core. It will allow you to upgrade your ISDs and Victories to the "advanced loadout" variant. Its also required to build some of the more advanced fighters, corvettes, and other small ships. I may be wrong in this version, but it may also be required alongside the advanced cruiser dockyard for the Ton Falk, but I could be wrong. Either way, its a relatively cheap structure and will let you dump a little bit of money every week towards shiny advanced strike craft.

    Personal Log 5
    Hangar Operations Lieutenant Kallo Jente
Temporary Post: Victory Star Destroyer ‘Tribune’ - 7th Task Force
“Well, things in the galaxy are changing as a whole. Rapidly, close to home and far from it. Peering out of the hangar bay I thought at the time that today’s entry would be about The Wheel, that hub of gambling and commerce, or the antiquated Sabaoth Destroyer over Vulpter. A nice ship, but outgunned and outclassed by what we sent to deal with it.
No, instead there are other matters. There is a theory in the mess hall that we may be seeing a change in the command staff of this Task Force. Frankly, if I spoke to myself a few weeks ago, I’d be surprised it’s still a cohesive force, and not disbanded by now. But no, it looks like it could be going on further down the road. A rendezvous with an ISD in the service of the Imperial Security Bureau seems to have potentially confirmed this theory.
In more troubling news, news sources across the mid rim are buzzing with the appearance of a Rebel fleet appearing over Naboo. And not just freighters with bolted on turbo lasers. So long as this news isn’t fake, a recording shows several cruiser sized vessels of seemingly Mon Calamari origin with the guns and star fighters to back this invasion over. If the Rebels dare to do this, how far will their foolishness carry them?
Again, I thank that I haven’t been posted to the ‘Devastator’. Naboo is the Emperor’s home world, and Darth Vader is sure to hear of this. While he isn’t in the habit of choking out officers, he has been known to make strong threats against those who are incompetent.
    End Log”

Apologies for the delay in this latest report, Commander Shed's inquiry took longer than expected and had much more security than I originally anticipated. The end result was what I expected though; both sides played their parts and Shed got his wish and the ISS got a power trip where they think they coerce a competent commander back into the front lines - galaxy knows they need competence now more than ever. I could only observe from another room, but what I saw made me want to attach myself to this man's operation. I have put in a transfer request to that effect. Lieutenant's Log
    Orbit of Vulpter
    Week 48
My life seems to have changed for the better.
Lucius Eiolig, now a colonel, asked Colonel Miles and Lieutenant Caster to bring forces so that we could destroy a rebellion on his homeworld of Tanarith with him. The rebellion was soundly wiped out, and we celebrated at his family's estate. A number of guests there congratulated me for blowing up the dam at the battle north of Torrent's Keep. The estimates were that I killed six hundred and forty-six Roilden troops. Even I can feel proud of that.
I took my leave a couple of hours before the party was properly over. Turns out, I now have a girlfriend, Valencia, Lucius's youngest sister. It was her idea. I admit, I had zero experience, and still have next to zero.
Triton Squad left two days after the party, with a few souvenirs. Miles had me and my team stay with the Tanarithians when the regiment left a week later. Apparently, he and Eiolig made a deal. As a lieutenant, I would now be in charge of Lucius's marksmen, and my team will stay with me. I feel like they were spoiling us a bit, though his mom and grandma wouldn't take no for an answer when it came to their, admittedly amazing, cooking, calling us skin and bones.
We finally got to return to the wider war after four weeks. It took Lucius a while to haggle and deal to get his new battalion built up. We have a Providence carrying over thirty thousand infantry, three acclimators carrying the armor, and four Arquitens as escorts.
As far as wider news in the galaxy goes, the Wheel was taken by Vader's fleet, breaking out an encircled Imperial battlegroup. Vulpter was taken by Vader's fleet a short while afterward. The troops under Veers have recently been brought in all the way from Lantilles. We also received news about Naboo and Aridus. Lucius seems to be more worried about what the Imperial reprisal will be. Aridus, he was sympathetic about. The governor selling off the mines and factory to save his own ass. Now, we just have to wait until Vader and Veers give the word, and then Vulpter will be conquered.

    Captain Lato's log
The rebels have made their presence known. It is not a handful of ships as we were told they have hundreds and multiple capital ships. The Outer Rim may soon be lost we must consolidate our scattered fleets into chook points or at least in highly defense areas until our main fleets can arrive. I realize my opinion will be an unpopular one but it is one the upper brass must be aware of.
    Please review the following:
    1. Send the fleet in Honoghr to hold Kessel or perhaps both fleets to the Maw to defend the new project the empire has started there.
    2. Send the Ghorman fleet to Thyferra or both onto Fondor as it is heavily defended.
    3. Rothana is a dead end system with a venator on guard please send them to Scarif and they can hold both worlds.
I realize what this may do to my career and possibly my life but the Empire must not fall to these rebel scum.
