I'm gonna tell you right now, this story line has more twists and turns than anything. It is not easy to follow, so don't feel bad if you get lost in the craziness
Perhaps they had to build a gas station set because it's hard to find such gas stations in korea? The gas station in the MV seemed to have a dirty/ grungy look and from my experience of travelling to korea for holiday, the gas stations there are generally well-lit, clean and modern.
I think this was an old abandoned one that they had to fix up for the mv ... I think I read somewhere that this was based off an old gas station that they took apart and reassembled in a warehouse
It is on warehouse, I read there is even a museum with the old sets. I think it is also convenient because they will use the same scenes for future MVs like that they ensure that nothing did change. As it is the Universe story they are recurrent scenarios
I agree with you. I think I've only seen one or two abandoned gas station that companies use for MVS. The permission to dance photoshoot gas station was the same as tripleH 365 fresh
Everyone is recommending Run next, but Onstage: Prologue is the bridge between I Need U and Run! If you’ve already planned for/filmed a video for Run, I highly recommend still reacting to Onstage: Prologue afterwards. I think you’ll really like the storytelling through the visuals and camera work they use.
I think because they had a low budget they decided to invest in things that were really needed like the high quality cameras and the sets because those sets reappear several times even in future videos as they are an integral part of the storyline and they just made do using the staff as extras and their cars and all. This song is truly an iconic one and billboard even called it one of the best kpop songs of the decade. It would be great if you followed it up with the Onstage Prologue (the one on their channel doesn't have subs but you can find a subbed one if you search)and Run MV 💜
ua-cam.com/video/cOj4HhJfaXY/v-deo.html Absolutely!! And here’s a link if he sees this comment with English subtitles. And also a quick FYI to Alex, hyung means like older brother or older close male friend. All the younger bts members call the members older than them hyung. It’s a term of endearment and V is calling RM (the one at the gas station) after killing his father.
It didn't show it in this video but Suga's fire scene, it was kinda like the fireworks at the beginning, it was flames coming out of pipes laid out around the room. They didn't set the room on fire lol I remember watching it and Suga's complaining about his feet being cold from the water and then complaining cause the fire's hot lol
So up next is -on stage prologue - Run -Young Forever -all 7 wings films -Blood Sweat and Tears JAPANESE VERSION -Live Trilogy Wings Tour Trailer -love yourself highlight reels (you only need to react to the 13 minute long version) -Euphoria
WHen you were talking about lighting of an interrogation scene, I flashed onto the scene where V is at the police station and the light is coming from above. I would love for you to go through the story line. I think you would enjoy the Wings Short films (including V's interrogation) which are part of the story line.
The next video in the storyline is “onstage prologue “. the original doesn’t have subtitles but I checked and there is a version with English subtitles if you search for it. 💜
I saw video of the directors talked about their work on BTS debut MV, they says that even at that time the MV is not cheap. BTS and the label understand that a mv is as important as the music and put a lot of resource to ensure the quality and hiring the best crew.
This was the song which had them get their first win! Very amazing and Run follows the same storyline. It's such a bop even now and boys have mentioned they love it as it gave them their first win after 2 years of working
Lol! You've got to remember, they were under a record label. A tiny one who was going bankrupt, but one who provided connections, had equipment already on hand, and fronted costs where it needed to. In terms of a professional music video it's low budget, but it's a whole studio's version of low budget, not one guy or a small group trying to make it on their own. That's not to say they didn't do the most with the least, just that I think it's easy to have a skewed idea of what the difference between most and least is for an individual vs a studio who has been making videos for a few years by that point.

their ON STAGE PROLOGUE is next! I’ve seen someone tell you to react to Run next but you should react to the PROLOGUE before Run so you can follow along in order!
The thing with the quality of equipment vs budget is that they always prioritise quality and the best outcome. Even if after they struggled to have enough money for food. Remember guys they used to save on food to buy the clothes for the performances. All those places and warehouses may be just rented or just far from the city where you can rent a place for a really low price. The guys commented in one of the shootings " we are done for today but we still have 4 hours to arrive to Seoul" For sure they would never save first on quality of the equipment. Lumpens (the director) is a perfectionist, he is amazing in all his jobs. Also the guys were working in several places as back up dancers to get more money.
I said this on the other video but I wanted to say it here too bc god do I love the video editing of this mv. The first blow of the bottle V hits the man with matching up perfectly to the car's impact and Namjoon dropping the cigarette that acts as the match to start the fire in the motel room are just really brilliant editing choices that give me chills every goddamn time I see this mv.
I think it's pretty hard to find grungy/gloomy gas stations in korea especially in Seoul (capital city). Also, they had a scene of dropping a cigarette in that gas station so I don't think it'd appropriate to use a real set😅 Great reaction by the way I've been binging your kpop videos bts and txt are my ults♡

I think it's really cool to see that even back then when they didn't have quite the budget, they still tried their absolute best and went all out with creativity and got the best equipments possible no matter how much it had cost them. It's like they didn't want to be restricted with low end stuff just because they couldn't afford the high end ones. They were sincere and passionate enough to put everything into the work they were doing. It shows and it's brilliant cuz it all paid off at the end!
These sets were actually used multiple times so I guess they just decided to build them since they were going to use them for several videos, even now you can still see some of them being used to keep the storyline going
I REALLY WANT YOU TO CONTINUE THIS STORYLINE. While you watching videos you mention some things that we have never noticed. Thank you for that. As I said before, please continue in the right order. Next is HYYH On Stage: Prologue.
I think on stage : prologue is the next one(older armys correct me if I'm wrong). The one on the official channel doesn't have subtititles though but you can find it if you type "eng". There are also compilations of the videos in order I think.
I think Save me was cheaper 🤣 it's a onetake performance video at some beach or desert looking area and it just happened to rain a bit. The shooting sketch for that MV was nice. And they were dancing despite the cold and the director was also pacing around their choreo because it was all in 1 take 😅
❗️The next one is “On Stage Prologue” for sure If you want better understand the storyline you should watch “On stage prologue” before “Run” MV Thank you for your reaction 💜

i think it’s important to recognize that while this is them at one of their lowest budgets, they had still been a company for years with a previous somewhat successful artist. meaning they already had these cameras and access to sets before things went more down hill.
Oh! You'll see Koreans say "fighting!" a lot. It means "let's work hard!" or "good luck!"... something encouraging like that. Chinese often say a phrase that's the same that translates to "add oil!". It's interesting.
The lowest budget video they have is pr 'Spinebreaker'. They were challenged to make a music video themselevs in one day while staying in a hotel. It's really funny and the making of is hilarious.
the video production company they work with has always been good. kpop as in the industry...is never what you imagine as "low budget". however they WERE quite poor at that time and this was the beginning of their big come up
If i remember correctly Bang pd the CEO of BIGHIT took on a huge loan for them to have more budget for the album development and MV production. I think the boys knew how crucial the success of the album to BIGHIT staying afloat but they also knew that people would love it because of their lead track I Need u. After the success of this album Bang pD immediately payed back that loan
If you want some cinematic scenes, search " BTS WINGS short film". They are 7 short videos supporting the "Blood sweat and tear" video. I mean they have A LOT of hidden meaning relative to the "BTS Universe". But it's ok to watch them just to enjoy the beautiful sets. Then you can watch " The highlight reels", there are 5 of them, please watch them in the right time-order to have the best experience.
But it would be better to watch Wings short films after completeing the HYYH part of the storyline. Even though short films kind of stand alone from the storyline, they still have references to it like Hobi's short film has pills, and Suga again sets the room on fire. It would just make more sense to watch everything chronoligically and not just randomly jump to Wings era :)
@@iwanttosueminyoongiforbein2819 If he wants to understand the BTS Universe then he can start from the beginning. I don't know if he wants to or not, but he's a filmmaker and he talked a lot about his love with cinematic sets, so I recommend him The short films and the Highlight reels. As I did day in my first comment, The short films relate A LOT to the BTS universe, but if you watch it without knowing the storyline, it's still good, in another way.
Alex, please react to ON STAGE PROLOGUE next🙏🏻 You will understand storyline better for sure if u react to “on stage prologue” after “I need u” and “run” after prologue
yess please continuee i really like your theories of their universe and you can see their highlight reels and all the wings short clips of their own individual stories
You can check out their second single "N.O" which talks about problems with stressful school system, that's a brave thing to do in Korea.Their music style was very different from now too.
New subscriber!! I love your reactions, honestly you’re the only reactor that I care to watch and listen to your commentary. Idk I just like the way you explain things especially from a professional filmmaker view. Very interesting! Also, some people are telling you to react to Run next but you need to react to their On Stage Prologue first! Pleaseee, thank you!
It's really more enjoyable if you'll continue the storyline because I believe that you'll have different interpretations than I usually heard since you're a filmmaker. BTS is an art that can be interpreted in many ways therefore I'm excited to hear your thoughts about it. Thank you so much for high quality reactions~
i definitely recommend on stage: prologue (with english subtitles, the original one doesn't have subtitles so i would recommend you to search one that has fansubs) after this for you. it is like a film that bridges i need u and run. i have a feeling you might like it, especially since it's full acting no dancing this time!
you should react to their love yourself highlight reel!! it's not a music video, but like a short film i guess? im literally in love with that video and the storyline lol it's beautiful
yes the storyline because I would love to see you breakdown the 7 short films that precede the Wings release. BTW thank you so much I had nvr noticed the wings shape around RM and V on the ground before. Nice detail. thx again
You said the light used in the scene with Taehyung and his father looked like an interrogation light. Interesting. In Taehyung's short film, Stigma, there is an actual interrogation scene. Never thought about that. About the built sets - I think maybe they want to be able to control minute set details; sometimes, they might want to use the same set but with some minor alteration, or a similar set in place of the original. Thanks again for another great video!!!

Wow. Im waiting for this. Thanks for reacting im so excited❣️❣️
Alex, please react to ON STAGE PROLOGUE next🙏🏻
You will understand storyline better for sure if u react to “on stage prologue” after “I need u” and “run” after prologue
yess please continuee i really like your theories of their universe and you can see their highlight reels and all the wings short clips of their own individual stories
Yes, please try to follow the storyline :-) that would be interesting piecing the MVs together :-)
You can see the Director of LUMPENS, it’s the guy with the multicolor cap almost at the end of the video, the one with RM at the gas station set
-they're actually showing detailed or more of their mv shootings/behind the scenes in their "BTS Memories DVD" every year..
watching the WINGS SHORT FILM would be a great start in understanding their storyline
Not him pausing right when yoongi was doing the feet-clapping thing and didnt even flinch :D
i think you would love the wings short films. the cinematography is insane
Check out "Save Me".. its a one shot video from start to finish.
Yes pls continue the storyline 💜
You NEED to react to their wings trailers there are 7 one for each member and one for the intro to the album so 8 total. But you need to see them
It's really more enjoyable if you'll continue the storyline because I believe that you'll have different interpretations than I usually heard since you're a filmmaker.
I thing their lowest budget video was "save me" one camera, a choreography, and a few crew
they had to fly out a whole crew and equipment to Europe to film Save Me it was definitely not cheap
@@Carolina-wz2qo o.o it was filmed in corea, en buan-gum I think you confuse with other video
@@Carolina-wz2qo they used their own clothes, it was a rainy day, they filmed in one shot sequence because they just had a day to film it they needed to return the camera
@Carolina It was filmed in Korea... Why are you spreading fake information?
@@TheSecretScript hsksjska now im confused lmao which one did they film in europe?? im sure there was one? or im crazy
i’m absolutely dying to see you watch their Wings Short Films, i feel like you’re going to love them
You should react to bts Run mv
They used their staff's car because they don't have enough budget
I like your reaction, you are not only reaction MV but you reaction behind the scenes and you react very well.
Well thank you!
Thank you so much for analyzing these videos! I really hope your filming career prospers too.
As far as i know, even though some kpop mv's have low budget, many of them still build the set and spend a lot of their money to make mv.
