Dude..! You SAVED. me..! That hack about smacking the Thermal Cut-Off on the ground a few times.... That's exactly what I needed, cuz my local appliance parts place is closed on the weekends, so I tried that hack, and it worked..! Clothes are drying. Yay. I actually removed the entire heating element (2 small screws in front), which allowed me easier access to the Cut-Off and it also allowed me to clean the element, and everything else out under there. It was insanely covered in lint - EVERYWHERE..! Anyway... Thank You for uploading this. It helped a lot.! (3 years later after uploading) - Gotta love UA-cam University, thanks to guys like you.

I followed your tutorial and got my dryer working again. I did take a picture of my part in case I need to buy a new one. Thanks for all your help, much appreciated
I had to smack it on the ground a couple of times but I got it to work

Thank you so much. I was about to buy a new dryer and Google brought me to your video. As a 73 yr old female, accessing and removing the element connector wasn't easy but I succeeded. Spent $16 in stead of $1300. Yippee! (I couldn't figure out how to use the tester, so I didn't test for continuity, I just removed and replaced it.

Thanks for the video. Getting to the thermal cut-off proved more difficult than imagined... for someone sitting trying to reach it. Once you lay down... and look upward. EASY! the top notch actually goes into a tiny hole, and not the opening like it's trying to hold it in place. Once in the hole, I was able to tighten up bottom screw. Until amazon part gets to house, i banged the cut-off switch, saw resistance. 😀

Thank you for this video it helped out alot I had to smack it against the floor and reset it just because my local appliance store isn't open today because of Christmas hopefully they open tomorrow. I just have a couple of questions when I was reconnecting the black wire I sort of bent the end of the wire that connects to the thermal cutoff. Can that wire be replaced? If so I just remove it from the thermostat and thermal cutoff and put the new one in right? Does the position of where black and red wires go?

Thanks for the diagram! When I was testing continuity, the heating element connector was the only part that didn’t have continuity.

Thanks for the video! Waiting for thermal cut-off to be shipped. Just a quick question. Do I need to remove a wire to check continuity on heating element?
Thanks again and have a nice day!

First, thank you I ordered the parts kit from Amazon, installed the Thermal Cut-off, and it worked.
BUT now a week later and this new thermal cut-off is now broken...
Do you have any suggestions? Is it just bad luck with the new part or something else?

Thanks so much for this video! I ordered the parts on Amazon and changed out everything today and the heat is back! Now I do have a question. I never looked behind the dryer when it’s on but I did today and I could see an orange glow coming from the bottom of the dryer where the heat element is located. That glow I’m seeing is okay right? While I was at I bought a vent cleaning kit and cleaned that out! In the 18 years I lived in my house I never cleaned it out and I couldn’t believe how much lint I was able to clear out of dryer vent duct!

You show 2 different dryer models. White one at Intro, black one being repaired. Is the process the same? Is the kit the same? I have the dryer at the intro.

My Kenmore 90 series has the 3 components like yours, but the one in the far back (thermal cut off I presume) doesn't have any wires connected to it?

I have 90 series as well. Same question. Has anyone responded?

    • @NoName-ml5yk
      @NoName-ml5yk 10 місяців тому

@johnnyoneniner4820 I never did figure out why mine was wired that way.
I discovered that my heating element was burnt up so just replaced it and it's been working fine.
I can't remember how I diagnosed the element, but look for a burnt through wire.
Of course, it will show infinity on the ohm meter signifying an open.
If you can see voltage at the element terminals with nothing happening that would also be a good sign.
Since I don't know if they were made this way or if techs were bypassing things it may not be super safe to go to bed, or leave the house, with it running. I'm not worried but something to consider.

If we changed out both the thermal and fuse but still no heat could it be the coils?

When the video started you showed one model Dryer and then as you started working on the Dryer it was a different model. Very frustrating....
