I am trying to remember which Mag had the "music video" for Valhalla which would sing "It's a skull, its a, its a, its a skull". I think it was CU Amiga. I think the developer for Valhalla did another talky after that one, but I cant remember what the game was called. I remember getting Amiga Power magazine and realising that the Pinball Illusions was AGA only and getting very disappointed. I was a poor A500+ owner with a dodgy modulator that you had to bend up to get the correct colours. Grand video as usual Mr Fish.
Ooh, I'll have to try and find that music video it sounds like a lot of fun. There were 3 Valhalla games in total, but working out the order isn't fun as the names really don't help. Valhalla: Lords of Infinity Valhalla: Before the war Valhalla: The fortress of Eve Happy you enjoyed the video, and I also remember the disappointment as more of the demos that looked really interesting were AGA only.
Fond memories of Hydrozone, It reminded me of the landing sequence from Alien. With another 30 years of experience though and a little experimentation - I can see where you’re coming from
Hydrozone was a fun PD game, I could have seen me enjoying it a lot back in the day. A little bit harder to play it for the first time now, but I could see with a bit more work this could have been a boxed game.
Ever since i saw the longplay video of VALHALLA on the Amiga, I was amazed with the awesome graphics and the brilliant backgrounds. Even the digitized speeches... INCREDIBLE 😺👍🕹️! SENSIBLE WORLD OF SOCCER is still the best on the Amiga 😺👍🕹️.
Valhalla is an interesting title, the voice samples work well, and its easy to control but damn are the puzzles some weird moon logic! Also requires some very odd placement of items. but its a really interesting game.
Blimey Hydrozone I remember playing that, never got to the breakout bit always just thought it repeated the boss but harder 1st section so never bothered finding out. I swear those Penquins on Bubble and Sqeek are from Attack of the mutant penquins.
At first I figured that Hydrozone was just repeating levels as you did. It was only when I went to record the footage that I found much more of the game and had to redo what I said about it!
@@Lordborak316Not really, its just the levels are longer then you might expect (and possibly longer then they should be). so you just have to keep going.
It's funny that in rise of the robots, the robot's chests move like they are breathing. They're robots they don't need to breath. They couldn't even get that right.
Yeah, its such an odd game. They wanted idle animations but didn't even think how they would work. but you get if you asked them they would say something like pumps or something 😉
Amiga Action: Valhalla, Seems like a slow paced game but a big demo & a custom demo at that wins big points from me. Wire Chaos clearly tries to do something new but no single player hurts it & whilst it would be fun 2 player I don’t think it does enough new to justify it? Kid Chaos has a great look but I hate timed games. That said the guest appearance by the Lotus Elan is a real mark of the game’s era. The Assassins collection, Battleships looks to be a serviceable game of… well Battleships. I do like a Battleships game that has a good sized board. The Big Game’s issues don’t count too much against the collection as it’s just another fruit machine game. Hydro Zone’s an interesting addition & one that seems like something I’d appreciate? CD32 gamer: Bubble and Squeak looks quite good? If I’d had a CD32 in the day I’d have appreciated the demo. Wembley International Soccer looks pretty good but I’m not the biggest fan of soccer games. Outside of Sensible Soccer 2 player. Oh good grief, is there no escaping Rise of the Robots?! The J.A.R? Slow paced marble madness? No thanks. I need to find Entity now! That looks like exactly my kind of thing. Shame about the stability issues? OK, a collection of video clips is just cheap filler. That knocks it down. Starbase 13 on the other hand, a PD point & click does get my attention. Amiga Power: Pinball Illusions! Instant win! Game over, everyone else can go home. 😄 Or it would be if it wasn’t time limited, although I understand without the limit it would be a free pinball table. Sensible World of Soccer (speak of the devil) is a great game but how many times can you recycle the same demo, even with it being the Scottish league? Loved the worm bit though & I’m Scotch-Irish, well done. 😂 Suicide Machine is… confusing? Amiga Power could have run away with it if Pinball Illusions wasn’t time limited but I actually agree with you again for basically the same reasons. A lot of what’s here is new to me (& I’m denying all knowledge of Rise of the Robots) so this was a really interesting one for me, thanks. I watched this & took my notes whilst reinstalling my PowerVR PC in the middle of the night.
Valhalla was a nice suprise, being custom and being sizable. Even if I couldn't work out how to get out of the first room. Bubble and Squeak is an interesting one, it came out first on the CD32 and AGA machines, and they ended up getting a bunch of feedback. and ended up making the OCS version play better. Entity was the surprise find of the episode it was a lot of fun to play. The pinball demos have all been timed, I think its possibly the best way for the demo or you wouldn't need to get the full game 😁 Happy that you liked the Scots worm, I'm half Scottish my self so figured if I found it funny then it should be ok. Middle of the night sounds like the best time to reinstall a PC

Ooooh! Charlie from Darling Buds of May on the CD32 advert.
Starbase 13 sounds intriguing.
Commodore trying to bring in the huge Darling Buds of May fandom into the Amiga!

If your looking for PD stuiff, check out the Assassins complication CDs they kept me busy for a long time on my CD32
I have been looking at getting the Assassins CD's, I looked at the "Now that's what I call games" CD's and had a lot of fun with them.

These are always so much fun to make, as there is always some game I've not tried and turns out to be interesting.

best coverdisk game I remember was called Ork attack
I think I played that one, it looked very fancy but found is really hard to get anywhere in the game.
Another entertaining trek through Amiga cover disks 😄
Always a pleasure to make these!
