Glad to see that this homebrew version is a good one. I dont think there has ever been a bad port of this game 👍
I used to play Hero on the Commodore alot back in the day but i dont think ive got the muscle memory to advance very far in the game anymore 😂

That's actually surprisingly good for a G7000 game, the graphics are pretty good and the audio is just about spot on. I love H.E.R.O and it's one of those games that still plays really well to this day. It was released for quite a few machines, I've certainly played the Atari VCS and HCS versions along with the Colecovision, CBM64 and MSX variants but there's probably a few other versions I've not played yet. Really is time we had a TI99/4A version of it as I would imagine it could be ported over by some TI techno wizards from the Colecovision or MSX versions as they both used the same graphics processor as the TI.
I went a bit mad this month and got myself a couple of small things and one not so small thing.....I got Robotron 2084 on cartridge for the C64 and another Level 9 adventure game for the C64 too. I had my eye on a couple of machines and based on a bit of logic decided on a really nice condition Apple IIe, it arrived last week and other than a tiny bit of discolouration to the keyboard-it's in mint condition. I remember seeing the Apple machines years ago but have never managed to get my hands on one until now.

Hi Allan, yeah I was stunned the first time I saw a clip of this on the Videopac as looked incredible for the system, and now I've finally bought it it completely lives up to what I hoped it would be. There isn't much shown of it online save a few short clips, so thought a gameplay vid had to be done.
I've only ever played the Spectrum version previous but have watched several comparison vids for this one, I never like the added detail like foliage, I prefer the clean looks for this game so not having a 2600 this is perfect for me.
I know very little about the Apple computer, apart from the fact when my dad bought our TI99, the guy that he worked with that got him interested in buying one, ended up buying the Apple instead. I'm glad dad stuck with his decision of the TI99 regardless. Would love a TI99 HERO port, should be a no brainer you'd think.
You really need a upload some videos of all your cool stuff😉

@@Tetlee I was funnily enough thinking about doing some videos but have to get one or two things sorted first. I'll have to get my internet speed upgraded and a new PC is probably needed as I'm still running off of Windows 7.😬 I should have both things sorted after Xmas/New Year and then I'll have no excuse.

Ever since i bought the Atari 2600
    compilation, ACTIVISION ANTHOLOGY,
for my PlayStation 2 from a former
    game store in July 2004,
i got hooked for playing the original
Atari 2600 games for many hours -
    and even everyday 😹👍🕹️.
It even contains so many legendary
    classic games, such as:
    - PITFALL
    - PITFALL II: LOST CAVERNS
    - DECATHLON
    - H.E.R.O.
    - ICE HOCKEY
    - SKIING
    - RIVER RAID
    - COMMANDO
I even played H.E.R.O. so many times 😹😺👍🕹️.
And it's still a legendary classic game
on the Atari 2600 and Commodore 64 😺👍🕹️.
The Philips Videopac version of H.E.R.O. looks retrospectively cool 😺👍🕹️.
The sound effects are retrospectively brilliant 😺👍🕹️.
Even you played retrospectively excellent 😸😺👍🕹️.

It's crazy to think that a game like this is still a viable option on modern consoles. The graphics would look better but ultimately it would still be the same game.
Those cartridges are a trip though. They remind me of kettle bells at the gym with those handles.

    • @Tetlee
      @Tetlee  5 днів тому +1

Hey Rob, yeah such a classic that games like this just never age do they. Oddly the ports that added extra details to the graphics I always felt lost alot of the charm, the original 2600 version will always be king for that reason but for my taste this Videopac release goes right into second place which is pretty crazy given the hardware limitations. Some crazy coding whoever developed this one.
Haha yes I do love those cartridge handles, clever design too as much easier to remove than they would be without.
