To the delight of fans, Kylie and Madonna sang together on International Women's Day! 👍

At nearly 56, and 37 years of consistent music-making, there's a huge and rich catalogue for you to delve into!
My personal favorite album and tour is Aphrodite from 2010; it's a must-listen. However, her penultimate album, Disco from 2020, offers a great glimpse into her most recent work that I love, followed by 2007’s X.
She’s released 10 studio albums just since 2000 alone (16 in total since 1987). In the UK, her last four albums have all reached impressive chart positions: no.2 for Kiss Me Once in 2014, followed by three consecutive no.1s for Golden (2018), Disco (2020), and Tension (2023), with none of her albums falling below no. 6 in any of those 5 decades.
Incredibly, she's now the ONLY female artist in the UK to have achieved at least one no.1 album in five consecutive decades (80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, & 20s), joining an elite group: Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Paul Weller, and Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour-some big names she’s up there with!
With nine no.1 albums under her belt now (so far!), she's surpassed artists like Elton John and George Michael in the all-time charts leaderboard.
And to add those all this, she just won her second Grammy for Padam Padam, and won the Global Icon Award at this Brit Awards 2024. She's also currently halfway through a sold-out Las Vegas residency at The Venetian.
    Goddess of pop! 🔥🙌🏼❤️

From one fan to another. You've definitely covered the tip of Kylies catalogue there. I love the oddities too, such as the collaboration with Rufus Wainwright & Garibay. I get concerned when so many YT reactionaries don't go into depth about Kylies records & just use the opportunity to get YT hits. This guy seems pretty much there, just needs to tell us a bit more as it's interesting to hear new generations thoughts about Our Goddess. 🎉

Totally epic song but very underrated.

    • @GPBKM

Why do you think it was underrated? It was critically acclaimed back then. It went straight to no.2 in the UK chart in its first week, and no.1 in Australia for like 4 weeks in a row or something... MTV was playing it non stop in 1994! I think that's success... ;-)

Im not a huge Kylie fan, but this song is a masterpiece . The video is about pre-internet 90’s using
the so called premium phone “ Hotlines “ And ultra late night TV commercials , in case you felt lonely . Also it was her first single after she stopped working with her original producers ( S.A.W.) so she clearly wanted to bring a new sound . Kudos for her , def my favorite Kylie’s song

The sound you are talking about is an India Sitar and yes you are right, at the end the sounds are coming out of different sides. It's another fantastic track from Kylie.

In the80’s you could ring chat lines for relief . They cost a fortune and the women on the phones would do their knitting or nails. How times have changed😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

The beat in the song you love was a sample from a group called Young Disciples and their 1991 hit "Apparently Nothing", and Kylie and her then label DeConstruction were sued by the band's record label. I think they settled out of court. I'd say Kylie is my 2nd favourite after Madonna.

    • @CTSimp

The court case was thrown out as it had no merit .

    • @PerryCJamesUK
      @PerryCJamesUK Місяць тому +1

@@CTSimp And do you know why? I was looking into this a while ago but if my memory serves me well, and this is quite funny and ironic, The Young Disciples had in fact sampled the song that BIR had sampled from them hehehe It's weird that they sued for doing something they themselves had been doing. The original was from a 1974 funk song called "I'm going to give you a little bit more" or similar, I have it written down somewhere in one of the paper's media info. Talk about being hypocritical.

It takes the piss out of the sex line ads back then that were very popular . Also it came out at a time when the fashion was all about black and white slow motion videos so she did exactly the opposite . Super colourful and super fast shots on purpose .

Before the Internet we had phonelines. To begin with they only told you the time 'at the third stroke', or maybe a joke, or a cooking recipe, but they grew and grew until there were 'phonelines' for everything, including finding someone to talk to, strangely enough. Magazines... well, certain magazines, were full of adverts just like this video, promising all sorts of wonderful things for a premium rate, and believe me their rates were very premium, many people got into difficulties when the bill came in, but you can see why if they were promising anything close to Kylie in this video. It's one of her best, because there is still nothing quite like it 30 years later. I would confide in Kylie, definitely.

A really fun video of Kylie I'm sure you'd enjoy is a live version of All the Lovers (arguably one of her most popular songs) as the finale for her Aphrodite Les Folies tour. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/PstrdiM63L8/v-deo.html

Kylie was a child actor in Australia.she became known to the uk with a new Australian soap opera that was aired here called neighbours in 85 .by the end of 87 she started her music career.
The songs that Americans seem to know of hers are the locomotion,i should be so lucky which were her first 2 then can't get you out of my head from 2000 and last years padam padam the lead single from her 16th album tension.
Although the US gay community prob know more.

She got the brits icon award last week and the billboard woman icon award couple days ago.
Please do Your Disco from Kylie's xmas at the royal Albert hall performance.it's live.

You'll be too young to get the reference, but the video is reminiscent of late night phone in channels where you could talk to women. Also I wish you could react to this live, the version in New York in 2012, was the best but it was removed from UA-cam. Also I'm sure it's been pointed out, her surname is pronounced min-ogue as in vogue. Great reaction tho

The video I think depicted sex workers on a call line or low budget adult channels. Her characters all had their vices as seen in the background, which show the seedy underbelly of the industry.

Please now just learn how to pronounce her surname. Minogue as in vogue. 👍🏻 great reaction all the same 😂
