There’s some good tunes off their 2014 album “Hunting Party”, brought them back to a heavier style, but not in the same style as Hybrid Theory or Meteora. Also there’s recently released songs called “Lost” and “Fighting Myself” that were unreleased tracks from the Meteora days that are pretty awesome as well.
This is the album I wish they did start to finish live. Blackout and when they come for me had chester on percussion. The album was a concept album so the lyrics of this song are sporadically used earlier (opening track and "jornada del muerto"). Easily their best album
I think the reason you feel that Chester's voice is getting buried in the mix is because it kinda is - both in the live mix and in the studio versions of the song due to the album being a lot more electro (there are a bunch of songs on the album with some hint of almost an Electronic Flanger on the vocals). IMO that was an artistic choice made by LP for the album to be much more produced/mechanized/give more of an at-world's-end feel... There are a few other concerts from the early 'A Thousand Suns Tour' cycle where it seems like LP doesn't have their setup dialed in completely for a live show. The vocals feel a lot more in place (if not exactly clearer or brighter) on the album, which I must say is best listened from the top to the bottom without any breaks!! :)
This was so fun for me to watch! When "The Catalyst" first came out, I HATED IT, and no kidding, I had anxiety about not liking the album "A Thousand Suns" because of it. I had been on board with the band changing sound from "Meteora" to "Minutes To Midnight", but "The Catalyst" just grated on my ears, and sounded like a confused mess. When I finally heard "A Thousand Suns", I wasn't initially sold, but a lot of it wasn't as bad as "The Catalyst", and there were some good songs on the album at least.... Then one day, I listened to the album while lying on the floor, eyes closed, and something just clicked about it. I think I finally relaxed enough to listen without judgement, and listening to it in it's entirety made "The Catalyst" make sense. It's a deliberately chaotic mess that combines sounds from throughout the record, it's s climax on the album, and it actually works in that context. Baffling as a single, to me at least, but I finally got it. Today "A Thousand Suns" is my favourite Linkin Park record. Shows me not to judge too quickly 😂❤

From the beginning of the video, it came in with you saying "this isn't My Linkin Park". I completely understand that you may not like the song and that's your prerogative, I am a fan since the beginning and I can honestly say that I personally don't like any song from the Hunting Party album but I have at least given it a chance. It just seemed to me that you started with your minds made up that you already didn't like this song? I actually love it, I don't expect you to feel the same, I just hope you really do listen to it without any negativity because it's not their older music. Btw, I do love watching your reactions, I just didn't love how this one felt from the beginning to the end. Have a good one and I look forward to seeing you in the future 😊
I definitely agree Giving up Live should be done. However I think the “Clarkson” Version is ALOT better. It seems a lot less engineered? Just a lot more emotion and more of a raw feeling with the crowd and the vocals are probably better tbh. AOL is amazing it just doesn’t seem like a proper live performance IMO
A Thousand Suns was one of the most experimented albums they did. It had mixed reviews, some loved it and some hated it. However, the more you listen to this album, the more you start loving it and appreciating the range these guys had! Pertaining to this particular performance, it is surely not the best live version! If you wish to watch the best one, please watch the one from the red square. It is AMAZING!! The guy in wearing grey in the reaction video sounds like Brad!! (I am A big Brad Delson fan)

This song is about a nuclear war. "will we burn inside the fire of a thousand suns", "symphonies of blinding lights"... These are nuclear bombs.
