Just to make it clearer: Just aim for the 2nd smallest machines (1 grade bigger than the flat feet jumping type and can actually run) There are like 6-7 locations with these machines, so just stay in 1 location, clear until there's no more (I think they respawn like 4 times and then no more), then move to other spots.
Good guide man, really helped. Got my +8◆ in just a few hours basically. There's another spot where they spawn in that building with the nuke info that's by the huge tree roots. They seem to drop crit +... sometimes? Less than most places but there are definitely some. Probably worth the stop.

The formula is for a chip's cost when fusing is (cost1 + cost2 + level)/2. Answer always rounded up. Level 0 counts as level 1. The way the math works means you don't have to always fuse only diamond chips together in order to get a diamond chip, if you ultimately aim for a diamond +8, you can afford to have some low level chip cost as much as 2-3 points more than a diamond chip, just make sure the math ends up right.
1 month late, but in case you (or anyone else) still wants to know, you can farm weapon attack (and to a lesser degree, crit and taunt) in the ravine area under the wooden bridge. Simply drop into the ravine, kill everything, back up the escalator, save, then load back again. The weapon attack chips come from the medium bipeds. Luckily, you'll also be near the ravine chip fusing bot.
yeah, also there's no point in farming for best in slot unless you're getting prepared for the hard content (which is pretty much only the last level of arena in the dlc), and by that time you should already be at 99 (not that it matters, 3 months late)
@@xavierguzman1747 the auto collect item chip is available as soon as you receive the scanner program from the twins in route A. talk to them again their shop will be available for you
nothing drops 8+ chips, and if they ever did, they wouldn't be 8+ diamond chips, you have to selectively farm and fuse the lowest space-cost chips to obtain 8+ diamond chips. you'll also need to talk to a specific machine NPC to even be able to fuse chips up to rank 8

Just picked up the game I can confirm that the dlc arena will beat your ass if you do not farm.

haven't played this in a long time but if i remember right i needed them to get ready for the arena last level or something (in the dlc)
