Anyone coming here lately might be confused about where to find the crucial "outputs" section of Kontakt 7. I think the software might have just updated recently because I couldn't find the icons referenced in the first couple minutes of the video. If you have Kontakt Player 7 open with the drumkit and click "View" and then "Rack view" it will switch to the format indicated in the video. Clicking "view" again will reveal the option to show the "output" section.
THANK YOU FOR THIS! I literally watched two or three tutorials that started off well and just ran into "these are my presets!" or "I already have this saved and mapped out!" negating the information I needed most....like the "refresh" button in kontakt!
That was something that was really irking me too when I was learning haha. There was one video in particular where somebody said "oh you should know how to do this part already" like no the hell I don't lol. I'm glad I was able to help!
This is a hero's mindset. I have no fucking clue how to use any of this digital stuff and luckily I don't have to look to a million videos for this stuff.
Incredible tutorial. You said at the end you tried to keep it short and honestly, I think you did, considering the amount of steps needed and how missing just one will flub the whole process. Helped me a bunch being able to follow step by step. Thanks dude.
I appreciate that and I'm glad you got your drums up and running! My original goal was to keep it a 5-minute tutorial because those are my favorite on UA-cam, but it's hard to really do that if you want people to understand not just how but why. I just didn't want anybody to go through the same pain I went through searching for the right steps for hours on end. Im glad to hear that it was good enough to help everyone out.
YES!!!! THANK YOU!!! I've probably watched like a dozen videos on this, and yours is the only one that worked for me. Pro tip: if you're using a larger kit like Invasion, you might run out of channels when creating the sends on the MIDI track for routing. Go to the "new channels on sending track" menu, and you'll find the channels you need beyond the default amount. I usually don't sub after 1 video, but I'm subbing now bc this was genuinely helpful
I was on that same boat man, I stopped for a bit because kontakt was a massive pain to figure out. I'm glad you all are finding this helpful. Thanks for that Invasion tip, I'm on the fence about getting it for those heavier/darker subgenres.
at 6:33 i dont have those options. im using one kit wonder metal (nvm i found it. its the MIXER option right underneath the drum kit. it was hidden behind the outputs menu.
Good content bro. I noticed that you have all stereo channels for each drum/cymbal on kit. Would you happen to know why only aux channels are showing up in outputs?
That means a lot coming from you. I really tried to make it easier to understand. You have great tutorials on your channel and your editing is top notch. Thanks for the kind words!
Thanks so much man! Kontakt is really starting to be my least favorite plugins to work with. I've used Toontrack plugins for years when it comes to drums and haven't had 1/10 the frustration I've had with GGD and Kontakt.
My first drum library was actually EZ drummer 2 and it was an absolute breeze to set up. Then I had the bright idea of upgrading my drum library and that's when I was introduced to Kontakt. It literally made me question if I wanted to keep going with this audio production hobby. Kontakt made me want to rip my hair out lol. I didn't want it to stop me from making music so I made this tutorial for people who were struggling like I was... and also to remind myself how to do it in case a step or two slips my mind lol. I'm glad you found this helpful!
After you set up everything in the Kontakt window. Right click on Kontakt in the panel on the left, then select "Build multichannel routing....." All the tracks will be added to reaper and named, there will be a bunch of extra empty tracks added but just delete them.
Hello! Invasion user here. I followed that step from 8:11 and I'm still not seeing "st. 2" and so on when I assign channels. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
@@SuperMetalWorld hey man im having the same issue and when i click on the window it doesn't have the option for more channels, it just stops at the end of that grid
Another important thing to mention, YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THIS EVERY TIME YOU OPEN REAPER. Remember to SAVE THIS AS A PROJECT TEMPLATE! Do it once and forget about it!

Honestly this has been the best explained tutorial! Thank you soooo much

Thx a lot! This was a thing that stopped me from mixing drums. I really Appreciate that! Thanks!

@SuperMetalBro this step by step will work to setup my roland drum with GGD in reaper ?

Same I can't figure it out
1:08 i wish i would have known this little thing SO long ago lol
Thanks alot dude, saved me a bunch of dicking around.
No problem friend! Anything to help people avoid doing all the searching I did.
Did exactly what you did step by step and all Im getting is 8 aux outputs, I dont know why i cant create the correct channels
When I click the box made of rectangles, there is no option for outputs for me. Anyone know what to do?
Weird, outputs should be on that list for sure. I would reinstall Kontakt if I were you. Let me know if its still not showing up.
click rack view, then click view again. they should show up after that. i had to do this as well.
Try to click first in the "rack view", then the outputs must be there!
following all the steps but no matter what I do its not registering more than 2 channels? what am I missing
Sorry for the late reply. Just to make sure, did you do the step at timestamp 8:11?
