I'm your host, Darren Van Dam!
Tired of looking for good movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.
Thanks for watching!

Plummer movie got good 👍
Now Angelina thriller is 🤙😸
Darren, a little tip to add for Paramount+ is if you sign up for the yearly 'Walmart Plus' subscription, it gives you free grocery delivery, free shipping, free grocery pick up, AND Paramount+ is something included.
Also, if you get any type of food assistance, you also can get the Walmart Plus for half off ($49 a yr, as apposed to $99 a yr) & it's SOOO worth it! I like Walmart prices for most things BUT HAAAATE going into the store, so the delivery is awesome. They also offer Express delivery for $3-6 depending if you want it in an hour or within 3hrs (honestly, I don't live too far from Walmart & I give a decent tip when I know the driver is also doing the shopping, I find the 3hrs or less option for less money ALWAYS delivers within the HOUR! So, I never used the hour or less option bc I get the same delivery with the $3 option & save myself 3 bucks lol!)
I love having both Walmart Plus, but also the free Paramount+ with it. You can also upgrade to the Showtime option & it's $6.49 a month. I like HBO better, so I would rather a "Max" option, but if you like what's on Showtime it's worth adding for less than seven bucks!
Hope this helps someone!
@@randomreviews4278Showtime is included with Paramount +
It's important to point out that about half the movies on this list are only available through the Paramount/Showtime bundle, which is twice the price of the basic Paramount+ plan. Just something to consider when you're thinking about how much you want to spend a month on streaming services.
I wanna spend 0
Good point, as I have the basic Paramount + plan and don't think it's worth double the cost just for those additional movies only available with the Showtime bundle. I only pay for Paramount + basic, Netflix & Hulu (for now), but oddly end up watching most movies on Tubi or YT Free movies.
I just got a deal package for Paramount + and showtime for $5 a month ($60 for the year) there are always deals keep your eyes peeled.
Watch it free on line
If you do a lot of grocery or shopping at Walmart, you can get Walmart Plus, free delivery, shipping, or just pick up, for $99... If you get any type of food assistance (Snap benefits, Wic, etc), they also give half off for the yearly membership, making it $49 a year.... And they give you Paramount+ included. If you want to add the Showtime bundle, it drops it to $6.49 mo which isn't a bad deal!
I was given a free membership to Walmart Plus after I lost my job due to shut downs & worked at Walmart in the online order filling department & when I left, I was bummed without it! I didn't think I'd miss ANYTHING about that place, lol, but this I did, enough to get a yearly subscription and now I never even have to step Foot in the place again! 😂 And I get most of groceries there, now delivered for free.
For the free 1-3 day shipping I often compare prices to Amazon & go with the better option and I'd say in the last yr it's been 50/50. Well worth the yearly subscription, even if you have to pay full price... Of course, having it for free when I worked in that department was nice too, lol!
Thanks for the plug! Event Horizon is such a great movie. I've learned way more about it since I first did that video, I've often thought about doing an update.
I first saw it when I was like 12 and tricked my grandma into renting it for me from blockbuster on VHS; told her “look it’s a space movie” lol… I thought it was going to be some crazy action movie like alien or something but growing up as a Christian i almost had the largest WTF did I just watch moment in my pre teen years seeing a film… ever.. very crazy turn it took near the climax/end
"The Machinist" is interesting, "Seven Psychopaths" and "Event Horizon" are fantastic. Thanks for another great list, man!
I definitely disagree about Identity not being rewatchable! I’ve seen it several times and still pick up on little clues I’d never noticed before
Great movie, I really loved it
I came on here to say the exact same thing! Identify is fantastic!
Jacob’s ladder freaked the crap out of me, and I’m 53!
Bc ppl actually live this
I'm also 53, saw this when it was first released. It was so creepy just looking at these images convinced me, again, to never rewatch it.
😂😂 that’s awesome. Haven’t seen it maybe I’ll have to.
yes!!
Major thanks for that last video on hidden UA-cam channels. They've been a blast to listen to while I'm working. Much appreciated
For people with clinical anxieties and phobias Beau is Afraid is hilarious. It's just the worst possible outcome happening over and over in the most cartoonishly over the top way. The movie equivalent of realizing how irrational and ridiculous/funny our fears can be. It is comedy gold no matter how "deep" or scary it at times tries to be.
Event Horizon is such an under unappreciated classic
Christopher Walken in seven psychopaths was f****** awesome
Identity is a classic. It's rewatchable af bc it's kind of like a cult classic for people who became adults in the 2000s and John Cusack fans.
"A woman hidden inside a secret room" is my fantasy too.
Just realizing Event Horizon is the film I watched as a kid that I’ve been having nightmares about for years, didn’t know what it was, or even that it was a specific movie 😅
I’m going to watch it again as an adult, confront the monsters 😂
I’m with you on Jacob’s Ladder! One of the best movies I’ve ever seen. Thanks man. You channel is so great to watch!
The sixth sense ripped it off.
I watched "The Best Offer" based on this video and wasn't disappointed - thanks again!
Another great list! IMO, The Best Offer is a heist movie not really a thriller, but who is counting...
A nice recommendation list, well done. 👍👍👍
I agree with you about Jacob's Ladder.
Inherent Vice is a very different kind of experience. Anyone who liked Under The Silver Lake should give it a spin.
I’d agree with
Great movie to watch when your stoned
So right about Jacobs Ladder. Amazing Adrien Lynn film, (Fatal Attraction). Horrifying with great performances. Danny Aiello is amazing as a calmness in the middle of the chaos, and Macaulay Culkins cameo is heartbreaking. A sad, bitter-sweet ending like no other. I watched it when it came out, knowing nothing, and was stunned by the conclusion...
Vacancy is a great watch. 😊
Jacob’s Ladder is a very dark treat.
I saw The Gift when it was originally released in theaters. I remember it being quite good with some surprisingly beautiful cinematography and haunting music.
You were the other guy in the theater?
@@emwolf1963 😂😂
What?! I instantly fell in love with Seven Psychopaths when I first watched it. In a time where so many movies are being released it’s hard to find the time to rewatch any of them, I’ve seen this one three or four times.
The machinist is awesome
Thanks for the time stamps. ❤
Event Horizon is one of my Favorite Syfy space thrillers
Jacob’s Ladder is a beautifully deranged movie. But heartbreaking too.
How have I never heard of Inherent Vice?? Def checking out and a great list DVD
Love your channel!
That my friend is a Kick ass They Live T-shirt!
I’m surprised you haven’t reviewed any Paramount+ till this video. We have been longtime subscribers. I would like to see more of these videos for them. Paramount has some good stuff like all of the sonic movies and knuckles and all of SpongeBob and some pretty good grown-up movies.
I only heard about seven psychopaths through this channel, just watched it and it’s brilliant! How did I not hear of this movie?
Thanks for diving into Paramount plus DVD!
Dark, creepy, psychotic, disturbing…why does 8mm from 1999 never make any list with these words in the description? In fact I have never seen it on any list by anyone anywhere. Joaquin Phoenix, Nicolas Cage, James Gandolfini, Peter Stormare, Chris Bauer, among others were in the cast and it was directed by Joel Schumacher, if I remember correctly. Movie adaptations of Steven King novels, the first Alien movie, M Night Shyamalan movies, creature features, gore fests, etc. very rarely ever bother me even for a few days, but 8mm? That bothered me for years.
Event Horizon is phenomenal
Gave me weekend plans, thank you!
Darren, you nailed it this time. Jacob’s Ladder!
great recommendations - thank you
Seven psychopaths is a top fav of mine! I LOVE Sam Rockwell. Christopher Walken’s character is the best part of the movie, he gives it everything.
@darren - there’s a typo in your sponsor link at 6:37
I saw Jacob's Ladder when I was 12. Really fun.
Jacob's Ladder definitely leaves a mark lol
@darrenvandam thank you for suggesting Jacob's Ladder. My husband had already seen it, but I had not. We are watching it now and W O W. Great film.
Great suggestions!!
The Best Offer was brilliant. Might have to watch it again.
Darren how in the world did you miss the fact that you MISSPELLED Skillshare???
Great list I’m interested in seeing most of them.
Some bangers here. The Best Offer, Identity and The Gift all are recommended.
Event Horizon was soo cool loved it
I loved Seven Psychopaths (and In Bruges) from the beginning Ning and have rewatched each multiple times. I saw Jacob's Ladder in the theater when I was in high school. Didn't get it then. Then I ended up watching every couple of years and that was one that grew on me.
Jacob's Ladder moved me, Left me sitting long after the lights came up.
Watched it on acid and weed and booze a good few times..
@@audie-cashstack-uk4881 Whoever gets you through the night...
Everything done by Martin McDonagh is brilliant (Billboards, Bruges, Psychopaths, Banshees). His brother is good too (The Guard, Cavalry)
I just couldn’t get into Banshees, but Bruges and Billboards are definitely top 20 of my all time. I didn’t realize The Guard was his brother’s film but man that makes sense.
You should do a sponsored video-- Most psychotic Skill Share courses. 😂
Jacob's ladder is hit or miss, definitely worth seeing but it's so bizarre
I love Jacob's Ladder, so many depths of reality. I also love Siesta, with Ellen Barkin, a somewhat similar theme. Totally underrated, imo.
Jacob's Ladder still creeps me out. When you said it was your number one pick I shuddered. I haven't seen all these movies but now I will. I have Paramount and haven't watched it in a while.
Seven Psychopaths is free on Pluto.
I had not even heard of the gift. Thank you :)
Jacobs Ladder has been a favorite of mine since it came out, I continue to refer this movie to people
The other movie on Paramount Plus called “The Gift” with Jason Bateman is the one to watch!
I really like Vacancy. I had a cat attack a window right behind me going for a bug or something while I was watching that movie and I might've had a small accident because of it. 😛
I saw Beau is Afraid in the theater, and once was too much! 😝
“The Best Offer” is quite amazing!
One of my fav videos from you😍
Ooooooo. They have 'Days of Thunder.'
It's one of those movies I always intended to sit down and watch, but never did.
The Gift is another favorite of mine!
I have looked everywhere, where can I get that awesome, "They Live" t- shirt? Tell me bro.
Just watched The Best Offer based on your advice. It was a great movie. Thanks; I never would have heard of it otherwise.
30 plus minutes of Event Horizon were cut due to how extremely disturbing it was. There are no copies of the removed scenes. True story, X-ray with Prime Video said so. 😂
It's truly wild the excessive amount of extremely expensive film footage that has been lost, misplaced, removed, and locked away over the years. For good or bad, I had really hoped the huge success of recent things like the Snyder Cut of Justice League would have really helped Hollywood see the huge potential of various cuts and releases of films, even if only as further cash grabs.
It's not even closemto the film it was meant to be the evil hell scenes were all far far far worse and better using porn stars real sex scenes real s and m scenes and far m ore gore and would have been one of the greatest horrors ever... loads of the movie were re shot not used and the producers and men in suits tamed it all down and ruined it
I've actually seen 8 out of 10 of these movies with only Best Offer and inherent vice being the ones I never saw so I'll try to get around to watching those movies I especially loved Beau is Afraid I remember seeing it in the movie theater and people started getting up and leaving during movie but I watched the whole movie and loved it , it reminded me of Schenectady New York which was very weird movie and was one of your lists before 😃👍
Thanks for reviewing paramount plus. I have a subscription and appreciate your reviews
Seven Psychopaths isn't perfect but it's perfect for me and my weird sense of humor. A must watch! The Best Offer is kinda predictable but the performances make it worth watching.
Inherent Vice was pretty amazing. I think you have to rewatch it to figure it out.
Great change up!!🎉
‼️ Never fails always leave with ‼️
A Great Film
🙏❤️ Love from Scotland ❤️🙏
Keanu Reeves also played a knave in "Much ado about nothing" alongside Denzel Washington
I completely agree about 7 Psycopaths. First time i watched it I thought it was just alright. I rewatched it a few months ago and enjoyed it much more.
I had to check DTDD before even considering watching “Seven Psychopaths”. I’m now cleared to watch! 🐶❤️#1! 🤣
THANKS
I said Brad 😂
Nicely done and edited
What is the background here? I can't tell if Darren has beef with Frank Whaley or this is a reference I don't get.
Really a good idea to let people know about the contents of this platform, however, next time choose less creepy movies 😅
Just FYI, you can read Inherent Vice, it's actually easy. Some critics have called it a Pynchon novel for people who don't read Pynchon novels. It's not Gravity's Rainbow, it's very approachable and kind of funny weird, all cops n hippies oddness.
I remember going to see Jacob's Ladder in the theater knowing absolutely nothing about it, and boy did I get the shit scared out of me! 😵💫😵🥴😲😱
No go on Beau is Afraid. It’s Showtime.
This came 1 day after my Paramount was canceled, which is almost impossible to cancel.
I found it very to easy to cancel compared to some others so they must have made some changes. Thanks for the tip. I'll try to remember this when I get ready to cancel after my latest promotion ends.
@TraceyJean for me it said to go to the website then when I went to the website it would take me to the app. I deleted the app and then it was giving me help tips but never a place to actually cancel and I finally was able to live chat to cancel and they did offer me a free 3 months of Paramount Plus and Showtime. I just didn't want to forget to cancel again after 3 months plus I didn't see anything new I wanted to see in the next 3 months.
Something to note, just because you have paramount+ doesn’t necessarily mean you have Showtime. You have to pay extra for Showtime above what Paramount+ charges. I have paramount+ but Best Offer, Beau is Afraid, The Gift and Jacob’s Ladder are all locked for me because Showtime is not in my plan. But either way, great suggestions. I have seen The Gift and Jacob’s Ladder and loved those.
See I would flip it, while Machinist is by far the best movie of the two and it's not even close. I think identity is a fun easy rewatch even after you already know the big plot twist. It's a goofy movie that makes no sense, but the cast is at least having fun.
The Machinist tells just a heart-wrenching amazing story the cast is wonderful the plot is amazing, but it is a hard re-watch, Bale is so underweight, the the story is so sad so dark, so depressing. To me that's just not an easy rewatch LOL. Great video
I can't watch Event Horizon again. Scary AF
The Best Offer is so fun! Loved it.
Seven Psychopaths is an excellent film with a great storyline. Funny too!
It's Brett from Pulp Fiction, not Brad 🙂
You didn’t understand in Bruges? … odd I loved it after the first watch; people have speculated London blvd being related to it as being in the same universe. Think about it ;)
Thanks again for keeping content fresh. However you cannot talk abour paramount plus and not mention the series The offer. It's an amazing show about the making of The Godfather. Every movie maniac should see this series.
where did you get the shirt???
The actual "Sexy Beast" movie ( not the series although the series is fine) is as good as any on your list and is also on Paramount +
Inherent Vice (so called) *Slaps* - ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 Possibly the Best Title out of this lineup.. . Along with Licorice Pizza and The Master (Definitely) One of P.T. Anderson's Best Most Impressive Films. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Pulp Fiction .... " Check out the big brain on 'BRETT' " not Brad, ... Brett.
I love Inherent Vice!!!
I had it for a bit but it just does NOT have the quality ratio of most other streaming services imo.
Seen all of these but one and will fix that lol. All these are amazing films! Event Horizon is creepy as hell and amazing!
I think there movies will be on other services eventually
