8:26 It’s important for me to say that converts outside of Orthodox Judaism do align with their respective movement’s view of Jewish Law. It’s a question of which community a covert wants to be a part of and the requirements of that community. If you want to be Orthodox, then do an Orthodox conversion; if you want to be Conservative, then do a Conservative conversion, etc. Pointing out this nuance matters when speaking to a wider audience that may meet converts from non-Orthodox movements. Just saying these people aren’t Jews because they aren’t in Orthodoxy doesn’t quite address how many different communities are living Judaism according to their view of Jewish Law. It may not be your view, but, in their well established Jewish communities, these converts are Jews according to Jewish Law. In any case, I always enjoy your videos and appreciate you sharing your life with us 😊
Hello! I understand where you are coming from, however I was asked my views on the matter specifically, and answered accordingly. I converted Reform before converting orthodox and have spoken about that here on my channel. I was fully accepted by the reform movement at that time. But there are also no standard practices / laws for conversion in the reform movement. And Jewish law has not changed, so while the reform movement has made their own rules or traditions for certain things, even the reform rabbi who did my conversion would be the first to tell you that my reform conversion was not done according to Jewish law.

Have you ever thought about getting a salad spinner for your lettuce and other veggies? That might be a great shortcut for you to get the bugs out of some of your leafy vegetables. Spin out the veggies and pour out the water with all the debris, including the bugs. I don't know how it would work for brussels sprouts, but it might be effective. Love the video as always! We went for my husband’s family clan meeting, and the place blew me away. I didn’t want to leave, ever. I long to be there, every day. My feelings on anger: the feeling is ok, feelings to me are neutral, it’s how you react that matters. But also anger to me is a “gatekeeper” emotion and there is something else underneath (fear, sadness, etc.)

Great video! If you are taking questions for another Q&A - what does Mr. Firefly do for prayers (specifically re: making a minyan) when you are out camping /in a cabin on family vacations?
Great question! If he’s camping, he would have to pray alone. On vacations, he will see if a minyan is in the area (often there are) and he will go there.

After hearing about the earthquake in Morocco this weekend, I got to wondering if your husband's family/friends who live there are okay. Would you mind doing a video on this?
Suggestions for reputable aide, relief and recovery agencies and programs would also be helpful. Ideally, groups that only have boots on the ground, and ideally, locals who would know local needs and work with the community, rather than just foreigners rushing in who may not know local needs and customs.

A k'siva v'chasima tova for a happy, healthy and prosperous new year! My husband and I will be in Israel for Yom Kippur and Succos to be with 2 of our daughters and most of our grandchildren. So exciting. It's a comfort trip for me after the petira of my mom over the summer. Then we go to Chicago to visit my third daughter and grandchildren. I am sorry to hear you have been sick, you could hear that you were slightly croaky before you had a rest. Oh, it is not easy to do with a family but I am glad that they were not unwell also. The dress you wore at the end is so pretty on you. Iris asked me last week why we use placemats, coasters and napkins. I like that she has noticed. We had a good chat about manners and setting the table, why I like a vase of flowers and then she said "It just makes us feel better Grandma." My heart was full. Do your kids mention this sort of thing?

Thank you for your kind words! For the anger advice, the best advice I read was in a letter from the Ramban to his son, and he said to speak gently to all people at all times. That little tidbit has been life changing :) And of course, asking G-d for help!

Thank you so much 🤗 Yes, we do dress baby firefly a bit nicer for Shabbat. He has some nicer rompers that we save for Shabbat. So they are definitely baby clothes and nothing uncomfortable, but just a bit nicer than his normal onesies or pajamas. You’re very kind to say my videos are never boring thank you!!! Yes, we are getting ready for Rosh Hashanah! Very excited!!!!

Thank you for your kind words! The quilted blankets are mostly made by my mother, and the crocheted blankets are either gifts, or made by my grandmother.
I love these Q&A's - How did you go about telling your family that you were converting? We are just about to begin our conversion journey and I am really struggling with how to tell my family or even when.
So glad you enjoyed these! I just got together with my family and told them. I did it when I was positive I was going to do it, and didn't wait too long to do it either. I think each family dynamic is different, so its hard to give much advice.

Woah shout out to Scotland! It's a small Jewish community here but a great one and you'd be very welcome anytime. Glasgow (where I am) and Edinburgh both have small Orthodox communities. Sadly only one Kosher restaurant in the country though.

I love how messy your house looks. We have an expression, "lived in", your house perfectly reflects that, it is a sort of happy messy, toys and food crumbs and the detritus of a happy day.
I don't know if this would be kosher but you mentioned raspberries, in the UK blackberries (very similar) grow just about anywhere. The best way to clean them is to put water in a bowl and then add the berries, then just leave (or watch) the berries sink and the bugs float to the top and can be removed with a sponge, or paper towel. You need to do this three times then dry them.
How long will you call baby firefly, 'baby', I was once visiting a friend and his mother called him, "baby boy" then then said, "i've got to stop calling him that he's 23"

In general, it’s recommended by our trusted kashrut (kosher) authorities (experts) to not eat them though. Unknown how long I will call baby firefly by that nickname :) I imagine one day it will need to change but not today 🤣😊❤️

I don't think that it was appropriate to ask what you wear to bed at night. Kudos to u for answering this question. There are things that have to be kept private. Have a Happy and healthy New Year.
I think people are just curious about a different lifestyle. My hope in answering that question is someone who is growing in their Judaism and may not have thought of that may consider a higher level of modesty at home whereas before they may just not have thought of it 💜
