My StarCitizen gameplay loop: 1. New patch drops, time to play 2. Get stuck in New Babbage because hangars don't work 3. Alt-F4 4. Watch SaltEMike videos about StarCitizen for next 2-3 months until next big patch drops 5. Repeat
I couldn't believe how bad the Aurora was until I earned up enough to get a Vulture with aUEC. Suddenly I had actual loops I could take part in that weren't just little box missons. The started ships give you so little to enjoy tbh.
@Brotacon I entirely disagree. Starter ships are just that, starter. Why ought you start with a ship like the vulture? Hell you could got the nomad over the aurora and found the sane enjoyment. Maybe if you had an imagination you could have found enjoy.ent in an aurora. I do.
@MaxFlood84 lol that isn't what I said at all. I didn't say fly a different ship or they should get more functions just that they should be exactly what I said "gold standard" physical components, proper storage and all the rest.
@ I didn't mean give a capable ship up front, but at least make the starter ships a little more versatile, and make sure those low level missions actually work. At the start you can't really make any ambient money from activities - so you rely on the missions to guide you into the game. They suck, pay peanuts and barely work. I would have given up on SC unless someone had invited me onto their crew and I genuinely had fun working on a Reclaimer. Loads of players bounce off because the low level offer is kinda dull and frustrating.o
CIG management & developers need to learn one crucial skill and implement it ASAP: Finishing a feature. We got promised bunkers with multiple levels and sprawling underground mazes. We got a simple copy & pasted basic template with a single level and around 3-ish rooms that are randomly switched out around a central ring. We got promised settlements with living NPCs and various missions around them. We got the environmental art for the location, super basic civilian NPCs that do nothing but run away/hide if someone shoots. Mission wise we got pickup box, kill a squad of hostiles and kill a specific singular hostile bounty. And by now more than half of those are broken. We got promised distribution centers with living NPCs and a whole ecosystem of various missions that draw players in like a landing zone. We got the environmental art for the location, super basic civilian&guard NPCs. Mission wise we basically got a mixture of the already existing box/kill squad/kill bounty ones and a "look for corpse" that never worked and by now has been forgotten. We got promised a fucking SEARCH function with the cargo update and it is not here for your inventory and not working at all for cargo elevators. We got promised an economy and mission rebalance for 4.0 and they managed to not even finish adapting the simple number of cash payout for anything but the starter missions. Example: Bunker missions earn you 45k (up from 10k beforehand) ish for flying to a friendly bunker and assisting friendly NPCs to kill some 15ish hostiles. The next tier suddenly only 36k to engage a hostile bunker, deal with the anti-air guns and then clean up the hostiles alone. This one has not changed in payout so it is obvious that it has not been touched since the additional hassle of the hostile defence guns should earn a higher payout.
This. The idea was always supposed to be that missions would be created by situations like this, but sometime many years ago they just decided to make magical gib quests.
Pretty sure that is intended. But filing that claim should have a limit to frequency of use to stem the exploits, fines for doing it if the ship is retrievable, or refusing to if the ship is not damaged.
Not sure if your truly a minority. All they have to do is advertise like its a brand new ship like they usually do and just do a resale on each old ship that gets passed for gold standard... I always had a theory that I think John Crew and his team have way more fun creating new ships rather going back to their old work so they just put it off while integrating very small stuff here and there for the old ships...
Yep, 100%. Tbh the only reason the connie is somewhat popular is because of the good armaments that help cut down on the tedium of grinding bounty hunting rep. If they ever nerf it to S4 weapons, almost nobody will use it when the Corsair, Zeus, C1 & Starlancer can do the same or more with a thousand times better internal design.
Regarding the trash cleanup, there was a comment on Reddit which asked the question -- Why aren't water bottles consumables when Noodle Boxes and Protein Bar wrappers are? The water bottles and cans, plus the hospital gowns, really should just be consumed and deleted on use so that they don't take up space. Like, hospital gowns should be a one time use. Maybe you can buy them for an RP experience, but once it has been used, as soon as it is taken off, it should despawn. And the endless amounts of water bottles and cans everywhere is nuts. Either make them consumable or make the bins work to delete the object.
The objects themselves are far less taxing than all the physics bandwidth they take up. As for cleaning up ships, I think that can potentially be countered by having the wrecks spawn salvage missions that NPCs will take before players can take them. A countdown to when an NPC gets there and the ship is gone.
In 2025 I want sh1t to work! - Mission not appearing - Markers disappearing - Infinate loading, cant connect errors, swapping servers constantly hoping for better results I always feel like im spending more time trying to get around bugs
i stopped playing. It´s not a fun game. Even when it works it´s the same game mechanics other MMO´s have. Rinse repeat missions with no dynamic universe to experience. It´s all locked in glue. I think it will be Devs driven with shitty boring events controlling the game play.
@@urduibinferior, poorly performing and bug ridden mmo events and 'gameplay' loops. It's unfair to other games dragging them down it SC's lvl comparison wise
@Mullins23 Another 12 year should fix the bugs lol. Hopefully then we won't die in lifts, hanger issues or even falling through the world. What a 5h1t show
EV override and Nova were such a huge part of my childhood. My first gaming system was an old Mac and a ton of shareware CDs my uncle gave me. I don’t care what anyone says, they are the Godfsther of space sims
I think public test servers have really misrepresented the whole development process. The reality is that players aren't testers. Testers are methodical and their entire purpose for interacting with something is to identify bugs. Having fun isn't a factor in effective testing. A player may identify and report bugs, but their goal is to have fun.
@@ivangoncharenko5829 At best, public test servers are stress tests. Usually, they are just glorified teasers for upcoming content. (I'm not just pointing out one company)
@RongleBringer that's the equivalent to saying that a ddosing zombie pc is a hacker. Testing on any level is being more than a warm body and most people getting on test environments are little better than that.
It's not like wanting an enjoyable, playable game 13 years in should be some sort of profound statement.. Chris,, same song, different year. I'll believe it when I can play your game without having my progress reset 3-4 time a year and constantly fighting game breaking bugs along the way.
Seriously, if CIG and all the fanboys want more people to actually test and report bugs, then CIG needs to finally start delivering game versions where it’s even possible to test bugs. It’s the same every time, and it doesn’t matter whether you log into live, PTU, or EPTU-you always encounter game-breaking bugs before you’ve even gotten into your ship. And if they don’t happen by then, you’ll definitely encounter them after leaving the hangar, but as long as a stupid skin is applied correctly in-game.......everything is fine. People aren’t even given the chance to go bug hunting. But what’s the point of testing or asking questions.? You open a thread in Spectrum and get flooded by trolls defending CIG to the death. You do that 2x, and then you’ve had enough.
large backpacks being restricted to heavy armor is the most annoying thing. It really should be opposite, light armor, large backpack or best, a reason not to always have the largest backpack possible.
23:36 CIG doesn't want to give you a choice when they push ship sales. The latest must be the greatest. Why else would you open your wallet for it when you may have an equivalent? That's where the power creep comes in. "Punches above its weight" has become a meme for a reason. If they went back and improved every ship to a current standard, it would become that much more difficult to sell new ones. Checkmate.
that "It's an alpha" shtick doesn't fly anymore.. They've made over 750million from players buying ingame items over 12 years.. It's a game with a bussiness model and it's about time it's being treated as such.
Most games take that long wuthout the studio starting from scratch let alone a single player game with a persistent universe alongside and developing their own tech just to make the game work, standard game development to add as much as you can and then make everything work together , there are now enough features and gameplay elements for this to be worthwhile doing now .
@@HipHopgamer88 What? No, you can argue that Star Citizen is large enough to need it but most games don’t take nearly that long. 10 years isn’t unheard of but it’s still an extreme outlier even for larger games, most take less than 5 years with teams less than half the size of CIG and budgets less than 1/3. The ones that do take a decade are extreme outliers and often they took that long because at some point years into development they scrapped most of it. The few that aren’t famous for being massively screwed up development like Duke Nukem Forever still usually get joked about for how long they took.
The gears at Area 18 cannot touch all the way around as the shared rotational direction induced by the top gear makes the side gears clash on contact. Visualize rotating your right and left hand counter clockwise as if being spun left on the top by a master gear then touch them together and see what happens.
Most of the bugs that get worked on is a so close to always bug band aiding, the bugs almost always come back and they feel like they are never really fixed. Over and over the same old stuff that is broken. And then new playable stuff come and then go and then never to be seen again. It’s such a bummer to be disappointed over and over again year after year. A sad truth that I don’t know if we will see the end of.
CIG wants to improve playability, and the first thing you read in the patch notes is: 'Fixed - RSI Ursa Medivac - PU - Vehicles / Livery - Door doesn't change color after applying a non-default livery (STARC-147022).' So much for playability and CIG's priorities. Even if this is a bug that's really easy to fix, I want to see just once that CIG actually releases a patch that delivers exactly what CR promised.
130+ bugs patched, not rushing out 4.0.1 with major issues, is this comment a joke? Also, they're not going to fullfill that with just one patch, anyone with a brain could figure that one out
@@ironwarr You're such a typical troll found in every Spectrum post, who has to criticize every statement and defend CIG, completely missing the core message of the post. First, learn to understand a text-take your time before feeling the need to respond to everything. So much for 'everyone with a brain'...
@@Aramiji994 I read it just fine, and I'm barely on spectrum so I'm not who you think I am. I've never posted or commented on anything there that isn't related to a patch note You were criticising them for not working towards making it playable because they fixed an easy to fix bug? If anyone's a troll it's you I've criticised CIG for stuff that most people don't even think of, but this ain't it. So far they're holding up their promise, when they don't, I'll criticise them then.
@ironwarr For someone who supposedly hardly spends time on Spectrum, you sound 100% like every troll there who defends CIG to the death, and every one of them claims the same things you’re writing here about themselves. You just don’t understand what I’m saying with my comment and what has been the problem for years. A bug like a stupid skin that doesn’t work properly is so irrelevant that, at best, it should only be a footnote-not even worth mentioning. Such fixes are only included so CIG can tell their fanboys, 'Look, we’ve fixed 130+ bugs,' and keep them pacified for the next 12 months-fanboys like you, it seems. Even if CIG has 1,000+ employees, only a handful work on bug fixes and critical systems. When you see a fix like the one I mentioned, you can be sure that CIG’s priorities are completely broken. And even after CR’s statements, there’s still no change in CIG’s policies. Just to mention, after all the PTU patches, the game is still not properly playable. And please spare me the top 10 response of the Spectrum trolls: 'It’s an alpha' that is probably flashing through your mind right now, with your fingers already racing to hit the keyboard.
Salty Mike: I could care less if they ever deliver a mission again Also Salty Mike: The mission givers don't work and CIG needs to fix missions. I like Mike but he does this a lot
Saying the game will be boring if they fixed stuff shows you haven’t done fps missions since 4.0. I’ve legit needed to bring friends for the first time in forever for ground missions since they work now. It’s satisfying getting into gunfights with the npc now and they are so varied from npc to npc.
@@basicallybrokes I agree, I just want them to offer a refund with that like they did back in 14 when they acknowledged the first change in direction - unlike the subsequent one they don't admit to.
I politely argued one time with you (Salty Mike) about how the game isnt ready to give penalties for dying at all because of all the jank. Essentially you're paying to expedite your ship because of buggy crap. I logged in for the first time in almost a year to try 4.0 and i was janked into the middle of the sun two times, i got out of bed the wrong way, into the wall in my ship and fell through it into space, i was exited from my ship mid flight into hyperspace, and my game crashed and made me put a claim on my ship sevceral times... in one play session. Ive never been more sceptical of this project in over a decade and thats saying a lot.
I agree, the game is a mess. That being said. Now that they moved a ton of developers over to Star Citizen from Squadron 42, and with server meshing now finally in we'll see how this year how that pans out. Maybe it isn't just fairy tales and fairy dust when they say that was the choke points. Having 100's of more devs working on the game + the server meshing holding everything back... This year is the year for them to put action where their mouth is.
The Intreped is a perfect example of the disconnect between the teams. The gun is the wrong size and the cool cargo doors just barely fit boxes, and it is super tedious to load and unload just like the Zeus CL.
starlancer max as well. doors barely big enough for an 8+ SCU box to fit causing it to be a PITA to load/unload, then the over-nerf of thrust making it perform WORSE than a Starfarer... Starlancer is 83k Kg and Starfarer is 3.5 MILLION Kg but flies better? tf?
Would be cool that instead of spawning ships to salvage and cleaning up entities after a period of time, just identify the ones to clean up and assign it to a mission to salvage it.
I just want to login and play consistently. Friends get shard locked. One guy rubber bands to a med bed all night. All the other stuff is great to think about, but right now, just logging in and doing something would be a win. I understand why people say there's no content, but we've been making our own content for years. Can't do that right now cause it's soo painful!
They just redid a ton of stuff. Server meshing probably affected every back end thing they had. Not to mention all the technical debt they probably have in terms of placeholders. Ofc it would of broke everything. It worked well not under load though. We had like 24 hours of things that work
Mike, how can you not understand what "fix the game" means? You complain about it every time you play. They need to address a significant number of the biggest issues before adding more features. Obviously, they can’t eliminate every single bug, as new changes may affect how some existing bugs behave. And how can you be a proponent for items in your backpack to magically appear and get used automatically? While you're at it, get rid of reloading animations, or walking animations, or doors opening and closing and go play Starfield. I know we all want a playable game but lets stay true to the magic that star citizen brings that everyone just takes for granted now until they play another game and come rushing back here for immersion. Immersion is not a dirty word. People need to slow down and enjoy the experience. What's with all the dopamine addiction these days?
As a salvager myself I would love missions to clean up other players' mess. Many times i find abandoned ships but unable to hoover them up because of armistice or bugs etc.
23:19 damn true the F7A mk2 is destroying the game so much for those like me who could not take it because I started playing right after they closed the upgrade from the F7C mk 2
They've hurt themselves for next year unless they deliver some actual stability on basic levels. People have bought ship packages just to check out 4.0 and uninstalled it because they couldn't even get the ship spawned in the hanger. No patch should go out and be called live if its that broken. It's one thing having existing backers that know how bad the game is at the moment, but dont bait new players to a really terrible patch as you'll just instantly make them feel scammed.
I agree the game needs a decay or cleanup feature for stability. But for salvage purposes they should give us an ability to mark a disabled ship for a salvage claim. This will in turn make its decay timer greatly extended to give us plenty of time to go get a salvage ship or share the marker with people to come salvage it for the org. Permanent persistence never made since even from a lore perspective. Ships disappearing over time would just be the result of the invisible ai economy.
24:40 the gears are moving opposite directions, as they're both connected to the larger gear, so connecting them would prevent the system from moving. (Mike was probably being sarcastic but I have no idea lmao)
I'll say this every chance I get. As a salvager, I absolutely HATE the gameplay mechanic of purchasing a scripted ship to spawn at a Lagrange point or an asteroid field. I want to salvage actual ships that were destroyed or abandoned by other players or NPC's, I want to go around and find them or scan for them and retrieve parts from those ships that you aren't able to just buy in stores. I want people who want to buy these specific parts to come to me to purchase them. I want a space junkyard!
I strongly disagree with your statement at 10:00 "If you fix this game you realize how boring it is" It's much more boring to fight with 60k errors, losing your ship to hangar elevator, not being able to finish your missions due to bugs and performance issues. I don't care how boring it is, bugs do not hide how boring some of this game's aspects are, they just add an extra layer of boringness and tediousness.
RE: Balance - ya well they made the game realistic but then used WW2 naval ship logic to design space ships, and mostly those design choices don't work anymore. SO THEY DIALED BACK THE REALISM. and that's where it all got fudged up. Our aesthetics like WW2 naval ships, so those are the jpegs that sell - but they can't perform because... just look at this, long ships make sense when you move through water that gives resistance, not when you move in a vacuum. They just... lied to everyone they sold it to as a space sim, and I wish they would just own that at this point. No refunds, just admit Nightrider is a troll and some people got scammed in the making of this great game.
Im evocati but when they ban you now for using a casual curse word after your whole group being stuck in prison for over a week and then ban you for talking about the ban? Ill never make another bug report ever again...
What about when someone claims a ship a mission is generated to salvage the lost ship. The location is known only to you, anywhere in the system, and a salvage fee is assigned. I guess that's one way to clean things up. Set the mission on a timer and if it's not taken after like 30 minutes or so the server drops the ship.
Its hard for them to show it because 4.0 is way to much of the underlying tech that was required. It should be at least possible for them to start doing it now but they where so focused on this tech that i don't think they had room to do anything else
CIG CAN'T do it internally because they have a completely unique version that they internally test on. WIth MAYBE 100 users? (likely on a custom version of the code). This is one of the MANY problems CIG has. They are DEPENDENT on PTU but they don't go back in time to actually fix anything. They just keep piling bad code on bad code and bad code (for 10+ years)
Well they dont, the code isnt bad. The engine is actually one of the more advanced in the industry, the problem is tier 0 implementation then moving on, thats legit been stopped tho. No more tier 0. But this bad code patter is just uninformed BS
@@Verdiac97 if we take CIG at their words... You're taking in definites. Remember when they restructured to staggered development? Features in one patch, content in the next?
@@Verdiac97 hard cope. It's not BS. The engine is old. They Frankenstein'd the code that they didn't write and they don't have the original developers to support their closed source engine. Put down the Kool aid before it's poison
The Intrepid *is* a great starter, even with the single gun. It can run MRT's no problem, with an Attrition. As for salvage - I miss the 3.22 style. Panels are convenient, but I miss jumping out to a Lagrange point, or the Aaron Halo, and just finding derelicts all over the place, 10-20km out.
Perfect start to the video. They keep moving the goalposts pretending like they were never before trying to hit the goal. Sportsball metaphors are stupid and lazy and that's emblematic of how tired I am of them saying things pretending they never have said before.
8:23 i just give up on that topic. The issue council is a real pain to navigate, errors that are years old appear again and are therefore dismissed as duplicates, reproducing errors takes up too much time that I'd rather spend having fun, and it takes 10 people to confirm that it's your bug Actually appearing to exist is just so stupid that I can't get my head around it
New stuff being closed because of old things that were "fixed" is so fucking annoying, a huge issue is mods farming karma on there but also the system is just terrible to use. It needs an overhaul and also a wipe of community facing reports starting fresh from 4.0
37:46 there was an mmo a long time ago that did have a system where NPCs would somewhat intelligently respond to a player talking to them. I’ve never seen that since.
I think the absolute best case scenario anyone can hope for is just less game breaking and mission breaking bugs, less server shard crashes, and fixing the 30k/60k errors. Content wise though? LOL no, that's already in the trash can. With the current state of the game not only is any real new content not anywhere remotely close to coming, they've already sabotaged multiple gameplay loops that aren't even in game yet. Anyone see what happens in chat anytime anyone mentions medical beacons and med missions? "LOL nice try pirate". The game has devolved into nothing more than a toxic zero trust rust situation, so this will cause multiple promised content types to be DOA. Med rescue, field repairs, even hiring escorts all compromised because all anyone will expect is the other end just being a griefer trap so they won't bother or take the risk. It's extremely sad the current situation the game is in, it's like Mike said, the game doesn't offer much and a lot of people view it as boring. What is there in the game to offer at this point? A few different types of repeating combat missions the same every time, some hauling missions (if they even ever fix them to work consistently), salvage missions, and feeding attention to the griefer problem. That's really about it. Sure, you can grind and in game buy some ships to try out, but for what stuff to do with it? Just those same few content types. All the other promised content type is already compromised in a zero trust environment so that's DOA. Base building might be decent?..... but who knows how open to griefer exploitation that will to cause people to not bother or care. The promised "space dungeons" or raid style content means nothing for pug groups in zero trust, so that's only for orgs which not everyone is into. Really though, it's a /sigh situation. What can anyone really do at this point? You can't give feedback or point out the problems without white knights rushing in to troll you, protect griefers and exploiters, try to give excuses to the dupe exploits, so on, so meaningful feedback conversations are very few and far between. There's really not much from devs at this point, just the promise of the "year of playability", whatever that ends up meaning, we'll see. Others I know who play the game at this point have just uninstalled it and moved to checking in on it once a year to see if it's worth bothering to install again, they have instead just moved on to other games.
15:00 Bigger than just streamlining they just need to fuck off the whole visual inventory. It isn't necessary. Visual grid inventories are used when the size and shape of items in the grid is the organisation, like Resident Evil 4. Star Citizen has a worse inventory system than goddamned Skyrim. Just give us a list view, with categories and stats in columns including quantity because everything is auto-stacked. Give us an image preview if we click on or select an item before we move it.
for the transit with 4.0, I think it was a situation where part of the community would have damned them if they waited and held off 4.0 even longer and a part of the community that would damn them for not putting it in? what do you do then? at least the underlying tech being in the engine first would give them a better foundation to build the transit rework onto instead of having another build to sort through.
I love that SC content creators are still reacting to things that Chris says are gonna happen in a given year, when virtually nothing Chris has said about something happening in a given year has actually happened often or at all, since like 2015.
So I keep hearing about the marketplace, didn’t they plan that with base building that players can create shops where others can buy stuff? I hope I understand this right but it seems like they want to create player shops at player build bases, this would also make a bigger gameplay loop for selling items.
What is playability when it comes to SC tho? also I really don't know what type of game SC is trying to be anymore! they say one thing and deliver something completely different.
24:31 mike, i really dont want to make you look stupid, but look again at those gears, look at how they turn and then say that again and then think about it, i will wait they can not touch each other, otherwise due to their respective way they would turn, they would crash into each other stop and be unable to turn at all. they made a completely mechanically sound artpiece (at least from the way the gears would turn) that looks quite good i like your videos, and content, but to be honest: this was the most stupid take you ever had (yes this is partly a compliment that you dont got rally bad stupid takes)
I don't get it! You are constantly negative about this game, complaining about everything and then when people are saying they want CIG to focus on fixing the experience, you then say the game is boring and you hope CIG don't get rid of bugs? I mean i know being salty is your whole schtick and that's fine, but be consistent about what your salty about. I have only watched a few of your videos but I honestly think this game isn't for you. I think you would be much better off playing a fully realised complete experience. Also just want to say No hate, I'm not trying to be mean here, i just think that your unhappy with this game and I'm not sure even you know why.
its difficult as a new player to want to commit to star citizen. ive now been playing for a few days and its so unplayable and already boring that im considering a refund. downloading the 4.0 now and will know soon, they need to fix current systems instead of adding new ships for money, or they wont keep new players that are ready to spend.
I salvage abandoned ships all the time. Take a 10k bunker mission and around the bunker there are usually abandoned ships that I scrape with my vulture.
Musk's engineers and programmers started and finished a project to MAKE A ROCKET GO IN REVERSE. But the SC was unable to find AN ELEVATOR IN THIS PERIOD. For the same reasons as this, I left this game.
The problem is CIG continues to make an astronomical amount of profit with their current business model. Why finish the game when they can continue to hold bait on a fishing pole and drag players along? There is no reason for them to finish the game when they can keep make hundreds of millions of dollars.
imagining what can be done to something so broken is an obvious sign of coping - it needs fixing, until then, who fukin cares on what may be - they keep adding shit that breaks on top of already broken shit - I refuse to cope with you
People complained that 4.0 wasnt out yet, and now they're complaining that 4.0 isn't flawless. It's like that girlfriend who puts out an ultimatum, then leaves anyway because you did what she demanded you do.
Is 4.0 really released if it’s not working correctly? Same question for your analogy - if your gf gave you an ultimatum and you didn’t fully complete what she asked, can you really complain when she leaves?
@@EnergizerCat206 Yes, it's released as you are able to interact with it. Her terms were always predatory as they were trapped with subtext and loopholes. This is to say her ultimatum was to spend more time with her, so you quit your time-intensive high-pay job to do exactly that, but she leaves because the benefit of opulence and luxury went with it. She expected you to add 8 hours to the day, not reorganize priorities. People didnt want to wait for 4.0 to go through all the testing it takes to get there 100% but were threatening to pull all their money out until they got it. The meme was "no money till Pyro". So this is what they get; cut corners, bastard systems, less content, because they expected CIG to invent more time. The same people who raged at 4.0 preview raged at CIG for having devs on 7 day work weeks, and raged that those devs got their EOY months off, and now rage at the 'wrong' dozens-of-bug-fixes laid out by Waka. This community subsists on conflict, and proves that the consumer is always the worst part of consumerism.
It needs to go from a list of tech features to a game. This is done by linking, joining & expanding the features in together. With 1.0 they also need to change their business model from selling ships (like an oversized kickstarter) to a subscription model for individuals & guilds, while also selling their game engine that they've spent over 10 years working on (use it to make profit). This would make the game more accessible and feel less of a scam.

Star Citizen brings in players because of how good it looks.
Star Citizen loses players because of how broken it is.
An insurance claim should create a mission to salvage the ship.
This actually sounds like a great idea! Id be behind this.
Spectrum post this ASAP!
This. The idea was always supposed to be that missions would be created by situations like this, but sometime many years ago they just decided to make magical gib quests.
Best idea of the new year award to you my friend
Pretty sure that is intended. But filing that claim should have a limit to frequency of use to stem the exploits, fines for doing it if the ship is retrievable, or refusing to if the ship is not damaged.
19:50 I love the Connie and would 100% buy one if it got gold-standarded. I may be in the minority tho.
Its jut so... busted,
If Connie's were brought up to the same standard as the Zeus and Scorpius, they'd be _a lot_ more popular.
Yup, the Andromeda is my favorite ship and I will never melt it. I just wish they gave it the love it needs instead of just giving it bigger guns.

Alt F4 works sometimes on 4.0 Preview
i stopped playing.

Just 12 more years bro, it's supposed to have bugs in alpha
@Mullins23 Another 12 year should fix the bugs lol.
Hopefully then we won't die in lifts, hanger issues or even falling through the world.
What a 5h1t show
Escape Velocity: Nova is a good example of a game that allowed you to hail and get hailed by NPCs that could give you story lines and unique missions
Escape Velocity was great.
This. EV Nova is not referenced enough as a game to take inspiration and examples from.
Well said!!
If you intend to test the game, not use alpha as ingame showcase to sell ships
@@ivangoncharenko5829 At best, public test servers are stress tests. Usually, they are just glorified teasers for upcoming content. (I'm not just pointing out one company)
They are testers in the crude sense of a stress test to see what parts break under load. But true, not in the sense of a reliable QA team.
My vision for the game being "fixed" is to have the worry of fighting the game itself be the least of my concerns during a session.
All the Elite Dangerous refugees are already playing Elite Dangerous. Awaiting the Colonization update which should be awesome.
I hope you're happy for not having being able to replenish small arms for 10k but paying 200k for missiles Mike.
24:55 The gears are not supposed to touch each other, they both touch the "South Pole" gear
Star Citizen wants to be a functional video game this year!? Let's gooo! It only took *(checks watch)* a decade and a half!
Most games take that long wuthout the studio starting from scratch let alone a single player game with a persistent universe alongside and developing their own tech just to make the game work, standard game development to add as much as you can and then make everything work together , there are now enough features and gameplay elements for this to be worthwhile doing now .
@@HipHopgamer88 this, some people's ignorance surprise me too much sometimes
...And I can want world peace this year.
WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO DROP OUR OWN WAYPOINTS, AND SAVE LOCATIONS.
When Mike says uhhhh he sounds exactly like Butthead
I've never posted or commented on anything there that isn't related to a patch note
You were criticising them for not working towards making it playable because they fixed an easy to fix bug? If anyone's a troll it's you
I've criticised CIG for stuff that most people don't even think of, but this ain't it.
Fixing up older ships would make people want to buy them. They'd still be making money, I'd probably buy a tarus if it got a gold standard.
I decided I had to see the game for myself in 2022. Cost me 70$ for a nomad starter pack and this $#1÷ is why I haven't spent another dime since.
Salty Mike: I could care less if they ever deliver a mission again
Also Salty Mike: The mission givers don't work and CIG needs to fix missions.

@@Cramblit Im a fan since Privateer on DOS and im a long term backer. I really want to be hopeful.

starlancer max as well. doors barely big enough for an 8+ SCU box to fit causing it to be a PITA to load/unload, then the over-nerf of thrust making it perform WORSE than a Starfarer... Starlancer is 83k Kg and Starfarer is 3.5 MILLION Kg but flies better? tf?
Would be cool that instead of spawning ships to salvage and cleaning up entities after a period of time, just identify the ones to clean up and assign it to a mission to salvage it.

Yes please
Well they are off to a VERY rough start
They just redid a ton of stuff. Server meshing probably affected every back end thing they had. Not to mention all the technical debt they probably have in terms of placeholders. Ofc it would of broke everything. It worked well not under load though. We had like 24 hours of things that work
Add two size 1 weapons on the intrepid. make em bespoke if you have to. But I think that'd be a good compromise for the intrepid.
I can't even exit the hanger in 4.0. I have a second hangar door that I can't fly through. This is across all servers

My hot take prediction: We will have Nyx before a real reputation system in Pyro.
I'm getting to the point where it's probably best to forget the game is even in development.
(Mike was probably being sarcastic but I have no idea lmao)
he wasn't being sarcastic, just stupid as usual.
If you claim, a mission should spawn to salvage that ship. Salvager might show up and find a ship in perfect condition, a salvagers dream.
Gold standard a Freelancer!
The Aurora should raise it's rear section, using the landing legs, for easier loading/unloading.
I strongly disagree with your statement at 10:00 "If you fix this game you realize how boring it is"
It's much more boring to fight with 60k errors, losing your ship to hangar elevator, not being able to finish your missions due to bugs and performance issues.

As for salvage - I miss the 3.22 style. Panels are convenient, but I miss jumping out to a Lagrange point, or the Aaron Halo, and just finding derelicts all over the place, 10-20km out.
They need to add more scripted missions like the 890 Jump Mission. Add stuff that is more interesting than a generic bunker.

If those gears touched it physically wouldnt work.
Its odd that there has been almost no communication from CIG since the holidays.
It’s not this is how they operate…I hate it though.
I just want cargo elevators to not bug out, well and people elevators.
They could at least dial in clean up for bottles and burrito wrappers...
But the immersion for players to rp as janitor staff will suffer.
for the transit with 4.0, I think it was a situation where part of the community would have damned them if they waited and held off 4.0 even longer and a part of the community that would damn them for not putting it in? what do you do then? at least the underlying tech being in the engine first would give them a better foundation to build the transit rework onto instead of having another build to sort through.
Content fleshes out features is how I understand it. Is that not the general meaning of it?
I love that SC content creators are still reacting to things that Chris says are gonna happen in a given year, when virtually nothing Chris has said about something happening in a given year has actually happened often or at all, since like 2015.
Gold standard pass on older ships generates zero cash flow.
It makes people buy them
10:12 did you really just ask "what is there to fix" in star citizen XD
So I keep hearing about the marketplace, didn’t they plan that with base building that players can create shops where others can buy stuff?
I hope I understand this right but it seems like they want to create player shops at player build bases, this would also make a bigger gameplay loop for selling items.
I’m not a native English speaker so I hope I said it right
What is playability when it comes to SC tho? also I really don't know what type of game SC is trying to be anymore! they say one thing and deliver something completely different.
24:31 mike, i really dont want to make you look stupid, but look again at those gears, look at how they turn and then say that again and then think about it, i will wait
they can not touch each other, otherwise due to their respective way they would turn, they would crash into each other stop and be unable to turn at all.
they made a completely mechanically sound artpiece (at least from the way the gears would turn) that looks quite good
i like your videos, and content, but to be honest: this was the most stupid take you ever had (yes this is partly a compliment that you dont got rally bad stupid takes)
I think you would be much better off playing a fully realised complete experience.

its difficult as a new player to want to commit to star citizen. ive now been playing for a few days and its so unplayable and already boring that im considering a refund. downloading the 4.0 now and will know soon, they need to fix current systems instead of adding new ships for money, or they wont keep new players that are ready to spend.

Musk's engineers and programmers started and finished a project to MAKE A ROCKET GO IN REVERSE. But the SC was unable to find AN ELEVATOR IN THIS PERIOD. For the same reasons as this, I left this game.
Literally copied a design from NASA in the 90s...
@@Tontisimo I think you understand my point of view, if not, I'm giving an example.
9:47 - wise words, bugs make game more interesting than it appear to be without them.
Morpholigest videos are always amazing. His ship reviews are the best. I always look forward to his videos.
I didn't know the Aurora had a cargo rack.
Does CIG still not play their own game (on live servers)?
It needs to go from a list of tech features to a game. This is done by linking, joining & expanding the features in together.
With 1.0 they also need to change their business model from selling ships (like an oversized kickstarter) to a subscription model for individuals & guilds, while also selling their game engine that they've spent over 10 years working on (use it to make profit). This would make the game more accessible and feel less of a scam.
Please do not say subscription model.
Obviously you're not worried about $
Sub models have ruined sooooooo much
The SECOND SC became a Sub model sooooooo many players would quit
STOP BUYING SHIPS
I'm actually gonna buy a $400+ ship just cause of this comment
No
Dude those mechanical gear in Area 18 should NOT touch since they are going in opposite directions.
I would wag that gold standarding a ship costs half as much to make a new ship. And it's not a money maker.
