As a beginning maker/cosplayer, would it be possible to post a used materials list or something? I'm currently busy lighting the Peacekeeper Mccree gun from Overwatch and looking into options what to use. A starting list of led's and types would make my life a LOT easier ;) Thanks, great video btw, the finished model is going to be awesome!
I've been talking to my friends about the game. Also, more content like this - real world application of skills. I love watching Adam putter around his cave, but would love to see some large scale processes like this.
Guys please, for the love of God, put a disclaimer on the next video so that people out there aren't sanding resin with an emory board 6" from their face. Adam is notoriously.....safety-adjacent sometimes, but this needs to be put out there. Resin particulate in your lungs is remarkably similar to silicosis, especially regarding how destructive it is to your lung tissue.
Successful AAA game studios represent a very eclectic group of creators. Physical modelers, 3D modelers, artists, writers, programmers. The list goes on and on, but all those individuals come together to deliver something even greater than its constituent parts. It's also extremely high stakes. StarField took more than 7 years, and some $200 million to reach completion. On the other hand, most any movie with a similar budget is likely to be complete in less than a year (and playing on cinema screens in under 18 months)
I love that you have younger builders working alongside you learning from the master sharing tips, and also learning from them as well. The mutual exchange of knowledge, technique, and tools is so organic and natural allowing both to contribute and learn from each other. Inspirational!
Ahem, Tested talents and contributors may be younger than Adam but they're already well known crafters in their field whether you're talking about Frank Ippolito, Bill Duran, Sean Charlesworth, Kayte Sabicer or Jen Schachter. They sure appreciate the exposition and enjoy sharing their knowledge on camera and working on cool projects but they're not here "learning from the master¨.
These younger builders are advanced .. I'm sponging it all up.. Adams brass bending technique is like HOLY COW.. harder than it looks.. professionals at work, and it's really a joy to see !!
@@tolkienfan1972I really enjoyed the behind the scenes from the first Extraction film on Netflix. It showed how they really incorporated One-take shots.
I know it's basically an ad but I'm loving this series. It's a lovely balance between the things you normally do. Looking at props, making things, sharing stories etc.
It's a good ad though. Starfield could have bought more UA-cam ad space and played annoying videos over and over. But they chose to instead spend the money on giving the team a really cool project for us to watch them make.
Xbox is putting more money into marketing then I’ve seen them do in a long time. We just got a live action trailer with a real space suit costume, cgi, actors, etc. Haven’t seen this kind of marketing since halo 3 with landfall.
A note to any marketing folks looking at this: *This* is how you do a promotional tie-in. You pay Adam to do what we all want to watch him do anyway, building stuff. We'd be watching this even if it were just a generic spaceship that has nothing to do with Starfield, but the fact that it is makes the videos a constant reminder that Starfield is coming out soon. I feel like I'm personally at least 20% more likely to buy Starfield as a result of these videos.
This would have to be the best game marketing I've ever seen. I think I'm enjoying watching this more than actually playing the game....when it comes out I mean.
I should also mention. I'm a 3D generalist. Have been for about 30 years. I constantly talk to myself while I'm working. It drives people around me crazy, but after a bit they get use to it. When I meet up with old work friends they say its too quiet without me. I work form home now and my wife keeps calling out to tell me I'm talking again....she's not getting use to it :(
I love how cohesive and zen the team is. Everybody just quietly working on their bit and when the team comes together theyre just super chill and positive. I like that there is a show that just focuses on people peacefully working instead of drumming up unnecesary drama.
This comes from a leader who absolutely understands each person’s strengths and how they operate and then organizes the work to fit each person’s abilities. We all know, Adam could probably handle every single role happening here. His experience and insight with each part of it allows him to advise and work with each person so seamlessly… that is the marvel of an expert like Adam Savage!

Oh man, you guys at Adam Savage's Tested have hit it out of the park with this Starfield ship build! I'm really hoping that Starfield turns out to be what's proposed to be. I'm very happy that Adam was involved. Adam brings a love of integrity. Let's see what Bethesda has to offer. If it's anything like Oblivion or Skyrim I'm all in.
This kind of work is really only available for us to witness in recent years , due to the lower cost and wider availability of digital video equipment , and we are fortunate for it! How many hours did we used to spend examining grainy screenshots and the few magazine articles about these building techniques in our attempts to learn from the masters at ILM? This series is an invaluable resource , thank you Adam!
This may seem harsh, but there's no excuse for Adam and his team not knowing about or taking necessary precautions for cutting/sanding resin, given how well known its carcinogenic effects are... This is not only dangerous for them, but also for their viewers, some of whom may choose to do the same without realizing just how harmful the potential health impacts are.
I just love the parts of this where you just talk about the process and strategically plan out what needs to be done. Also it's really nice to see how passionate the crew is for their field while on camera.
Oh man, seeing all of this reminds me of the fun I had, wrapped up in my own little world, when I was 12 years old in 1979, pumped up on Space 1999, Doctor Who and Star Wars, spending hours in my bedroom, kitbashing Airfix and Revel model kits bought with my merge pocket money, designing new spacecraft based on what model kits I could buy, and adapting anything else I could get my hands on, from plastic drinks bottles for fuel tanks, toothpaste tube lids for engine nozzles and the plastic framework left over from snipping off all those parts from aircraft, ships and tanks that I used in my builds… Thanks for reminding me of such an awesome time I had in my spaceship factory 👌
Adam, how would things be different if you had a 3D printer back at ILM? Would greebles still be used or just printed straight on the models? It's fascinating to watch these things come together. Thanks!
As someone who made decals for many years, you should also cut a shape that matches some part of what you’re masking or decaling if possible. Easier to line it up initially.
Adam and crew, I want to say thank you for bringing back my childhood memories of model building but not on your level. Someday I hope to be able to get there before I die.
His workshop isn't huge but Adam is good at cramming stuff into small spaces 'No Pun', when you maximize every available space you will be surprised what you can fit in😁😁
I love this video series. Watching people craft this ship using a combination of newer model making techniques with the SLA prints combined with old school methods of just cutting and sanding along with a wide variety of techniques in between like the lighting is so satisfying. It seems to match well with BGS's design ethos of NASA-punk; worn futurism. It's making me more and more excited to play this game too. I can't wait to see this ship completed and on the motion control rig.
Any chance of getting the STLs for this awesome ship? It would be great to be able to have the community benefit from all of the hard work that went into making it printable!
I love my Cricut, @tested a great tip for applying vinyl 25:12 is to put a piece of parchment paper under all but a sliver of the adhesive and then align things, once they are aligned stick down that little bit and then slide the parchment out and press the rest down with a squeege.
It's great when Adam's inner nerd shines through - that's when everyone really gets into the videos. He manages to combine education with entertainment, making it enjoyable for all of us while also learning something new.
mr savage please wear a mask..if nothing else to show other people watching you what you should do. We all love to watch you for tips but i dont want to see you inhale all that..... also you know ur like THE NEW BOB ROSS RIGHT......i will be watching these videos till i am 80 still learning about models.
Disclaimer I absolutely love this channel and what Adam does especially wearing a Pepsi Rolex. How he moves all erratic and fast bumping into things, especially on unboxings knocking stuff off the table drives me absolutely crazy. It's like every movement he makes is out of pure adrenaline and excitement😂.
Beautiful work Adam and team, hearkens back to the old days of Star Wars/2001/Star Trek when models were the "norm". THIS is artistry and craftsmanship.
As a 3D artist who spends months doing models like these for games, its quite stunning, and amazing, to see someone replicate one IRL. So cool!! Absolutely love the works and the videos!
So you don’t have a special booth or something to control flying bits and keep your shop clean of debris? I figured it was only amateur hacks like myself that cut, grind, and sanded material on their lap or work table. I’m glad to see that the pros do it, also.
I’m really liking watching Adam building with the younger Tested team! Also liking the multi video series with the detailed content on model building for motion control rigs!
I say this as a photography professional, please stop artisticly pulling your focus on each and every shot! _It is extremely tiring on the eyes, and tends to get somewhat annoying after awhile._ Other than that I love all of tested content! I watch it everyday, and I am enjoying this build very much indeed!
I have LOVED the videos on this ship build. I always love comparing and contrasting the techniques that the pros use with scale modelling and mini painting and how all these different disciplines influence and inspire each other. As a hobbyist, I feel like weathering, especially with oil washes, is probably the most enjoyable part of a build for me and I wonder if any oil washes or weathering are in this model's future.
The attention to detail will only be noticed by a small percentage of those watching the videos... but if you and your team weren't all so detail attentive and excited by complexity, the vast majority would notice. Adam, kudos to you and your team.
absolutely loving this mini series! I would love to see more like this, and I have to say, its a pleasure to watch Adam work, such perfection! but overall, such a great team! The attention to detail by all is simply staggering!
“We get to” Enjoy Adam Savage for his 1, 2, 3 of being Absolutely Happy: 1) Someone to Love…!!! 2) Something to Do…!!! 3) Something to Look forward to…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1) Adam Savage 2) Watch TESTED Videos 3) Watch Adam’s reactions from the process of making stuff….!!!!
This is a phenomenal build series... this is up there with the Starlords build, which might be my favourite! Love seeing the team coming together for such a big project.
I've been excited for the launch of Starfield but not nearly as excited about seeing the rest of this series. Amazing work so far guys. Can't wait for the rest.

Thanks!
Really cool seeing the Dream Team at full strength. Good to see Joey rambling around here and there.
I see a lot of sanding and resin but no one wearing masks.
Nice to see Adam so completely in his element, and it seems his shop was put together for this more than anything else.
I always get stressed when I see people sanding down resin and not wearing a mask or respirator to block out breathing particles
With other people in the room as well...
Well if you go based off of old standards. BE A MAN 😂 (possibly get cancer.)
His face was pretty much in all the particles
@@rbricharbruh what
BRO ITS STRESSING ME THE FUCK OUT. LIKE WHAT!? SHOULDNT THESE DUDES KNOW BETTER!?!?!?!
For all, into the Starfield!!!!
What I want most in life is a huge workshop like yours. I'd just tinker for ever.
His workshop isn't huge but Adam is good at cramming stuff into small spaces 'No Pun', when you maximize every available space you will be surprised what you can fit in😁😁
@DespaceMan when you have a rented flat and your workspace is half a closet, his workspace is huge.
I can't wait to see this ship completed and on the motion control rig.
tested and bethesda collabing what timeline are we in 😂 love it
Betested
Adam savage and starfield both it doesn't get much better than that!

"No offense Todd, that's a good game." - Tyrone, 2023
Does it just work though?
Always loved the content on TESTED - but this series is every modelmakers dream come true!
MASK PLEASE
I love everyone in this video. Thank you to Bethesda/Microsoft for making this happen
I almost didn't recognise you without your blue hands. 😁
No PPE in the resin printing room was bad. No PPE for sanding and cutting resin is insane and not a thing to encourage people at home to do.
People these days still smoke cigarettes. You expect people to wear ppe.
I think I forgot my PPE when reading this comment
PPE didn’t even work to stop covid
Beautiful work Adam and team, hearkens back to the old days of Star Wars/2001/Star Trek when models were the "norm". THIS is artistry and craftsmanship.
Resin is nasty, please wear masks. If not for yourself, do it for your audience
_It is extremely tiring on the eyes, and tends to get somewhat annoying after awhile._
Other than that I love all of tested content! I watch it everyday, and I am enjoying this build very much indeed!
Where is your mask my friend? We don’t want you to get plastic poisoning
I feel like a kid again, watching this series. Love it. Hope we see these something similar, in the future
absolutely loving this mini series! I would love to see more like this, and I have to say, its a pleasure to watch Adam work, such perfection! but overall, such a great team! The attention to detail by all is simply staggering!
Adam squealing with excitement will never Not make me smile
“We get to” Enjoy Adam Savage for his 1, 2, 3 of being Absolutely Happy:
1) Someone to Love…!!!

3) Something to Look forward to…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1) Adam Savage
2) Watch TESTED Videos
3) Watch Adam’s reactions from the process of making stuff….!!!!
This is a phenomenal build series... this is up there with the Starlords build, which might be my favourite! Love seeing the team coming together for such a big project.
There's so much love for detail in all of this, I'd love to give it a thousand likes. This mini series is fantastic.
That use of a gel-loading micropipette tip on the super thin CA glue is brilliant! This is going to revolutionize how I apply that ❤
I've been excited for the launch of Starfield but not nearly as excited about seeing the rest of this series. Amazing work so far guys. Can't wait for the rest.
I really hope the mini screens make it into the cockpit that would be super cool - looking great so far and cant wait to see the final product
Adam is a Legend… He gets things done and he loves his Craft… I live watching someone who is a Master at what they do and have been in that feild for a very long time.. Truly amazing.
I love watching the builds come together and the focus involved. The skillset on display always amazes me.
