I got into DJ'ing about four months ago. I watched this tutorial, and others you made, before and after I purchased my first controller. Thank you Carlo! I've purchased recently DDJ-400 and trying to learn some DJing basics. I've been looking at DJ performances and was curшous what all these DJs doing with EQs at song transition, now I finally recognize their sequence of actions as what you've explained in this video!
Im a semi professional House DJ/producer. This video explains the absolute easiest way to transition. In my head, there are 100 other things i rather do, than something simple like beat matching but it almost took me a awhile to learn what he just taught, bc i never had someone explain it so easily.
I have learned to use this transition without syncing the beats, because sometimes I have to mix two songs with a huge BPM gap between the songs. I still use the low knob, but alway play with the jogwheels to keep the snares somewhat on beat as I fade in the new and fade out the old. All of my tutorials are from you Carlo, thanks for doing these vids.

Great video! One thing i noticed was that you went from 124bpm down to 120 to match the other song. Even for beginners i believe it would be worth getting used to adjusting both tempo sliders so in this case both on 122bpm. Might make it a bit easier for the future when mixing songs that are mismatched in bpm by 20+.
Thanks for the feedback bud! Yes, it's a good notion to have when adjusting BPMs to try to keep them closer to their original states. This adjustment was just for simplification of the video. :)
Checked out a couple of your videos and you’ve definitely earned my subscription. Very cleanly edited and easy for a beginner like me to understand. Thanks
Wow you explained it so detailed that I thought that I didn't know this cause of a lot of info in this video made my mind confused. I already found (know) this technic without any education. Thanks for your detailed explained video but I believe if someone wants to find this technic he/she could find it by hisself/herself while trying...
That means you've done a pretty good job at learning how to DJ already! Sometimes, you think you don't know something but it already came naturally to you. Good job!
Bro thank you so much for these videos, I'm actually a videographer here in HK but i got into Djing recently while im filming some local dj's here, these videos are a big help
Can you put together big compilations of different types of transitions? Like just clip the transition out of dozens of dj sets to show many examples of each type of transition?
I've taken several online DJ courses and have learned the most from this single Carlo video. Well worth the $3 file download; they happen to be good songs, too. More beginner vids please DJCA!
@@djcarlo Yes I have a growing list of your videos I plan on downloading the files for and practicing from. One thing I think you get better than most is this simple fact: beginner DJs just want to elegantly get in and out of radio-style edits the *easiest* way with the *smallest* amount of knob-turning and button-pushing. Period.
That's great, thanks! One thing that I don't understand though is do you continue to play the new song at 120 BPM instead of the 124 it was recorded at? If that is the case how do you ever get away from playing at 120 BPM in the set. And if you do change it back, when?
@@djcarlo if you beat grid your songs correctly they will always line up in sync. I learned to spin on vinyl with 1200's so this is easy for me with no sync but if the the bpm is displayed and grid is also there showing that they arent lined why pretend it takes more skill to match beats without sync. Unless you are doing without software then you might as well use sync button stop pretending that if you dont you are really matching a beat it is the same thing. 💯% fact making sure the numbers match and looking at grids to see if they line up is the same as sync. Do it on real vinyl on turntables or use the sync button!

Best thing you can do is practice! It might take some time to get used to not touching the platter since the physical record is no longer there, but otherwise, most of the basics are the same, and I'd say it's even easier to use! For one thing, you may no longer need to calibrate the gain since most songs will be equalized in their volume output by whatever program you're using. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it quickly!

I'm a beginner, this is a great explanation on how to beat match. However, I have my songs beat grid and I cannot get the beats to aligned. The songs are some oldies . It doesn't matter how much I used adjust or slip in Serato Dj Pro, the songs are never lined up. I can beat match House music in the middle of the songs very easily. The beats are perfectly aligned. Am I doing something wrong.? I have a Macbook Pro laptop.
Ohhhh, I have a newer, more comprehensive beat matching guide on the channel now. You'll need to "catch the beat" with those songs, and not totally reply on beat grids
@@djcarlo What is the name of the tutorial for beat matching without using beatgrids? Thanks !
Thanks man, I learnt a few things from this, keep up the great work!
