Maize harvest in extreme wet soil conditions | Claas Jaguar & Prinoth Track Dumpers | GM Damsteegt

- When the going gets tough the tough get going, in this case contrator G.M. Damsteegt from Oud-Alblas in the Netherlands.
When there is a lot of rainfall, especially on the low sandy soils in Holland the harvest can be difficult. Contrator G.M. Damsteegt converted for this a Claas Jaguar 940 SPFH on tracks. The Vervaet Track Trike from contractor Heyns Heykants overheated after a few loads and therefor parked on the side, so unfortunately I don't have many footage of it. The Prinoth T12 and Kato dumpers had no problem with the wet field that you could hardly walk on.
Thanks for watching!

thats where the added cost on those tracks pays for itself, would love to see how they fix that field for next growing season
This video is absolutely one of the more extreme cases I’ve seen in years in the lowland countries.
This field has suffered for sure, yet it still had to be harvested. Farmer will take its losses and all the extra work that comes with restoring the field. This is not normal.
Hope for a dry spring, level the field. Liquid manure and Phacelia for some ground structure. Then right before maize is sown: spread solid manure from a dairy farm, some nitrogen fertilizer, and although mandatory in the Netherlands do NOT allow the field but use a deep ripper. Then seed maize and hope for the best. If the farmer can, rotate out maize for the year and harvest winter wheat.
Years like this are no fun. At least they are getting it done.
Mesin pertanian yang sangat luar biasa sekali mantap 👍
being able to harvest in the middle of a lake, incredible
Yes, Great 👍
Fascinating farming brutal, to say the least. Thanks for sharing 👍.
This week on the boat show: The pain of bad weather.
Great action there in hard conditions. Greets Stefan
Great video as always my man, very interesting to see these tracked machines
Video molto bello e belle macchine.
Ma che terreno, o meglio, che palude...
🌽🌽🌽🌊🚜🌊🚜🌊👍👍👍
I hope the cows appreciate it 🐄

Two questions. Do you have a video of them preparing that same field for planting with all the ruts. Second, do they not do drain tile in fields over there?
the Netherlands usually have very good drainage, but when there's a lot of rain you reach the limit of what you can get rid of, and when they run out of time to get the harvesting done they can't just sit and wait for the field to dry
How do you plow out those ruts so that the field is usable again? Can't they wait until the field is even slightly drier?
once a crop is ripe you only have a few days to harvest it before it starts to rot. Basically you reach a point where it has to be harvested NOW, no matter the conditions, or you likely won't be able to salvage any of it. The weather doesn't always cooperate, and when it keeps raining it can be a long time before it dries out enough. The cost of dealing with the terrible conditions and having to restore the field is much lower than the potential loss from losing the whole crop
OLA BOA TARDE/SXT FER,08/12/2023.OK
Do you even need to plough the field after harvest like this?
Could they not wait till it dried up more?
*I've never witnessed a corn harvest in a chocolate mousse before! 😜*
Very nice video, thank you, where is this place?
Unbelievable ! Never seen this work done in such wet conditions.
Land is a big big mess !
Still company have the machines/tools to get the work done & that’s all that matters.
bad, but it was much worse in 2017 where most of northern Europe was flooded with rain, and farmers had lakes rather than fields to harvest. Was an expensive harvest that year
I feel like the repair cost is more than the corn is worth.
Where have you been for 8 months back then?
Busy with other stuff. I have continued filming, but uploading has stopped for a while
This topic is very good and I am also doing it, I hope to have your support😊🎉🎉
I’ve never seen maize harvest in chocolate mousse 😜
My apologies if this is a FAQ but why doesn't the combine have built-in storage? Requiring two vehicles to stay in sync the entire time the combine is going seems much more difficult, especially in these conditions, then having the tractor with the cart periodically swing by to pick up a load.
It’s not a combine (separates kernels from stalks) but a forage harvester, it chops up the whole plant to use as cow feed or for bio gas, it doesnt have internal storage because the volume is enormous, it would fill up a m3 in a minute
@@KoeKkthanks! My first and third drafts of that question said harvester but I second guessed myself and went with combine. 😊 interesting to know about the high rate
Is a really muddy field like this a sign that something is not correct? Like the water is not draining from the field correctly or going deeper into the ground?
I thought the same but they have dug pretty deep ditches between every field. I think the water table is just crazy high after a ton of rain. Probably didn't want to wait any longer or risk losing some harvest
What a mess!
I guess this is the problem with farming below sea level.
This location is above sea level, it is in Limburg
It has nothing to do with sea level but with surrounding areas. If this field is surrounded by higher fields,it is obvious the rain water is going to stay in the field. The drainage facility has a limit.
Which village view 0:51
that is the small town of Grashoek in the South East of the Netherlands
they need screw-propelled vehicle
ideal for mud
What a mess🙈🙈
I am so happy this is not my field 🤮
We had the same Problem on 1 of our fields, but it was not that bad like this
Flurschaden aus der Hölle...
😩 promo sm
First
Nie lepiej poczekać na mróz? Ta kukurydza i tak już jest sucha
To destroy the crop? It’s freezing right now this needs to get of the land quick or you will fuck up the land for 2-4 years ALSO THE FARMER NEEDS FOOD
This can't be worth it lol
SOME money made from harvesting bad crops is still more than no money at all.
thats where the added cost on those tracks pays for itself, would love to see how they fix that field for next growing season
