- 2023 has been an extreme wet year for Dutch farmers. Especially the last 3 months of the year have seen plentiful rain and the first week of 2024 was not much better. The last fields of sugar beet are being salvaged early January. Dutch farming & contracting company W. Berkers Deurne modified their Agrifac ZA 215 EH sugar beet harvester by fitting 4 Westtrack/Zuidberg tracks. The 12 row lifting unit has also been designed and build by themselves. A modified Gilles RB-300 self-propelled beet chaser is used to transfer the crop from the field to awaiting trailers.

It's amazing that we have machines that have the technology to harvest in those conditions. Very impressive.
The factories demand it. The machines can't stop because the factories run 24 x 7 regardless of weather. My father grew potatoes and sugar beet. The potatoes for the frozen chip factories had to fed into the fryers on a certain day and if the weather was warm in winter and were muddy they just pulled the wheeled tractors and harvesters through the mud with tandem caterpillar tractors. Then they bulldozed the field flat afterwards. They burned 1 tonne of diesel a day. A frozen chip is made of diesel.
The benefits of putting machines into production are amazing, the machines are amazing in their capabilities 👍

Prachtige machine! Wij hebben zelf ook zo'n model rooier lopen, maar dan omgebouwd tot aardappelrooier. Hij loopt nu al meer dan 15 jaar, en er word nog steeds elk jaar flink aan gesleuteld (onderhoud en aanpassingen). Ondanks dat hij op wielen staat komt hij ook flink ver in de modder, maar dit jaar werd het op sommige plekken toch net wat te gek...
Ik heb jullie rooier in Trekker & Werktuig gezien destijds maar wist niet dat hij nog altijd rooit. Zou prachtig zijn om daar een video van te maken volgend jaar!

Conditions in the Netherlands have been exceptionally wet this year. The ground is completely saturated, even at top of 'ridges'.

Among all these beast machines what amazes me the most is type of your soil.
If we had that amount of water here in Croatia, tank would probably stuck and should wait for sprint.
No mud on tracks, no mud on tires..
I'm really amazed with your soil type.
This won't work on all soils in the country but if it is really wet on this sand the tracks and machine flush clean.
It's just sand, you wouldn't be doing this on heavy clay soils no matter what kind of machine you cobble together. Good job putting those tracks on though!

@@Agrifotodotnl Yes, you can move but it won't be digging beets out of the ground and separating them from the mud and be able to actually unload them out of the tank. I've spend countless hours digging loads that were half mud, half beets out of tanks with a shovel, some types of sea clay are worse then glue and molasses mixed together. And it sticks to any kind of metal that it comes in contact with and builds up and plugs things up in no time flat.

seems like it fills faster then the dump truck can keep up you would need to be running multiple dump trucks a day
Incredible the lengths people won't go to for sugar.....but aren't they ruining their fields harvesting in these conditions?
You dont realy have much choice in that you cant predict the weather, also you have to harvest them at a specific time to get a good yield, not harvesting them would cause a complete lost, also if you dont harvest them they are in the way next planting season and they need to get rid of them anyway.

That is an impresife machine but in my does harvesting condition are not healty for soil and also for the exweapment it selfe but as a small farmer myselfe i understand that harvest must be done in the right time at all cost. Great videos keep the good work and i can t wait to see another new video speacial a new apdate video dose are just gold to wach

Kan je gewoon weer gebruiken, als het droog is goed lostrekken en vlak maken. En dan bemesten en door.
Er zal wel iets minder opbrengst zijn maar het zal niet waardeloos zijn

What’s the reason for the push bar on the cart being so low? Seems like it can get hung up a lot.

@@Thies. would make sense to have it movable in that case like is often seen on trailers. Seems like a hindrance in the field fixed where it is.
@@SgHawk144 yes indeed, dont know why they chose to have it like this. But its not every year you have mud up to the axles, so its probably fine in normal field conditions

Impressive engineering certainly, but disastrous for the soil structure! With our warming climate, wetter winters producing higher water tables this kind of farming is not sustainable 😮
After a couple of dry years we had a pretty wet summer and hardly a day without rain since October. It is exceptionally wet everywhere in western Europe.
I remember the fall of 1974, it was at least as bad or worse than this in Zeeland. Everything has it's swings...

It will be fine. Leave it to dry out, run through with a subsoiler, leave it to dry again, cultivate and sow the next crop. Farmers have been doing this for years - where are all the ‘ruined’ fields?
