Toonami promos back in the day were LEGIT hype machines. They could have promoted Hello Kitty: Island Adventure and I would have watched it.
Much as I love Sean and Chris and all the new DBZ voices, the original dub will always be closest to my heart

There's something about Ocean Group's Deadzone that it is the only one I can watch. Same thing with The Tree of Might, World's Strongest I'll have to watch again. There's something about the Funimation ones that I just can't have as much fun with.

Cullen as great as he is and as much as I love him, was great enough doing the promos for Toonami..I think the narrator that DBZ had from the Frieza Saga on did a PHENOMENONAL job with the series..so I disagree.

It’s debatable which voice over actors did the best dubbing DBZ back in the day but the ocean dub will always have a special place in my heart because I grew up listening to them when I first started watching anime

I just purchased the digitally remastered movie packs but just found out they also have digitally remastered dvds on blu ray. Is there a big difference?
To be frank, Deadzone (the ocean dub only) is my favorite DBZ cartoon ever, I like it so much that when I watch it I actually pretend that it is a stand alone fantasy movie and that nothing else in the DBZ sagas & movie franchise even exists. I'm only referring to the Ocean dub (I dislike voices and the music in the pioneer dub).

Actually it still could fit coz Goku never tells Krillin Gohan is his son in the movie. Just for him to rescue Gohan and he becomes shocked in the episode on Master Roshi’s Kame Island when he says Gohan is his son
While Akira Toriyama has stated the DBZ movies are "non-canon", the reality is in later interviews Akira Toriyama has also stated the DBZ movies are "What If" scenarios. Think about it. How would Goku mistake Cooler for Frieza and How would King Kai say "Goku because of you bringing Cell to explode on my home planet thus killing me, Bojack was released back into existence."
@@RhodieSlayer Filler or not, it still happened in the main timeline of DBZ..and is the bridge between it's predecessor (Frieza Saga) and it's successor the Trunks-or more commonly referred to as the Android Saga, of course I hate when people misinterpret "filler" or "non" canon for having not even happened..every single arc is REAL (in the anime sense) and fits in somewhere in the DB(Z) universe. Sometimes its very tricky to figure out, but it still exists.

Dead Zone is kinda mid but Toonami makes it look like a grand event. I especially love the opening bit of the promo
The saga is just filler. Both of them are non-canon and the saga is basically what happens when Garlic Jr. returns from the Dead Zone. None of it actually happens in the main storyline of the show.
It does..the Garlic Jr. Saga IS part of the main storyline in the anime. It's 9 months after the events on Namek with Frieza, and after Garlic Jr. is finished off the second and most likely last ever time, while he is not mentioned at all again for the most part, (save for the Cell Games when the epic narrator mentions his name as one of the numerous villains Gohan had played a major hand in defeating) there is a peaceful period of time before Frieza's return as a cyborg..it's filler, but it's also as I mentioned the bridge between the Frieza and Android arcs. It's not like the other DBZ movie scenarios like Cooler, Turles, Dr. Wheelo, etc
@@LuigiLaker That whole saga is filler and not in the manga. It doesn't line up with he events of the story. Gohan wouldn't have been able to fight Garlic as a kid because Krillin never met Gohan until right before Raditz shows up.
@@SlimD716 At the risk of taking this perhaps just a tad too seriously and sounding a little dumb, it just kind of irks me, again, when people mistake or misinterpret filler for something that literally never happened, even though they're *watching* it happen with their very eyes..maybe it didnt happen in the EXACT main timeline of events, but nevertheless, it still happened and ties in somehow someway with the series..be it on it's own accord or not. Maybe im taking it too literally and seriously, but that's a diehard for ya lol.

I used to not be able to even stand Garlic Jr. if for absolutely no other reason than that he took the place of Frieza after Frieza was defeated on Namek..stupid reasoning I know lol..but he's my favorite anime character ever so ANYONE who succeeds him as a main antagonist in the series is going to pale in comparison..but for awhile now I just realize he was a great adversary for the Z Fighters and a very unique villain that I respect completely.
Is there a different version of this? When I watched this (20 years ago!?!) there was a different narrator? In my memory it sounded more like TOM.

Who's the VA for Garlic Jr. in Dead Zone?? That's definitely NOT the voice he had when he returned from the dreaded "Dead Zone" in his arc, which was Chuck Huber, who I thought did it best.

Did any of y'all remember whenever they started putting all the DBZ movies out on Toonami and they did the garlic jr. Saga I mean I'm pretty sure every single one of us as American kids had never even heard or seen of those movies and if you did is because you knew a kid who went to Japan or was in mexico. I mean it absolutely opened my eyes to the entire world of Dragon Ball z the tree of might The dead zone cooler's revenge the return of cooler the world's strongest. ❤❤❤ Man I'm telling you if I had a time machine I'd go back and watch all of them on toonami.
