  • You will see how to evaluate the Throttle Position Switch (TPS) in a 1972 Mercedes Benz 280SE 4.5 (W108) with Bosch D-Jetronic Fuel Injection. If you don't hear 20 distinct clicks, then you take the cover off and clean the contacts. You don't have to take it off the engine to do this. However, if you do take it off, mark the adjusting bolt's position before you take it out. Also, to adjust if needed, place a 0.4mm feeler gauge under the stop, rotate the switch fully one-way until the multimeter reads zero ohms. Then turn slightly the opposite direction until the meter reads infinity. Clamp right there. Since mine was fine this information was beyond the purpose of the video. The purpose of the video is to demonstrate how to evaluate if the TPS is functioning properly. If it was not, that would be another video. Thanks for watching and commenting. I think the Throttle Position Switch would also be tested with an ohm meter, to make sure it had no dead spots. The D-Jet systems are know to have failing fuel pressure regulators, especially at their current age. Thanks for the video and nice job on the camera work to show it up close!

Thank you for watching and commenting. The TPS (throttle position switch) can be cleaned. Check your linkage adjustment first.

Thank you for your quick reply and interest and patience.
Can you tell me click sound from where come.
The click sound must be when Tps attached with throttle rod or can be available when remove Tps.
If click sound not available. What this and how can be repair.
Where I can get workshop service manual pdf online please.
      Waiting your reply ASAP.
      Best regards,

I also have basically the same engine. The 74 450SL. Would my throttle position switch do the same?

Hello and thank you for the video..
    Can TPS be calibrated manually?
or it has to be with ohmmeter..what are the steps?

And I thank you for watching. You have to use an Ohm meter. I have a PDF about on this topic concerning the TPS from R107 SL cars with the M11t 4.5-liter engine. I can send it to you.
