Thought id add an update, when this was reinstalled, the problem was completely eradicated. BUT PLEASE NOTE!!! Before removing this and checking the valve. FIX ALL VACCUM LEAKS ON YOUR R107! The car will never run correctly with a vacuum leak.
ALSO Ensure your fuel pressure is 2-2.1 BAR while the car is running. If not then adjust that first!

@@fUSE12100 hi! As long as you dont take the expansion tank cap off while you are fixing it, not much coolant will run out at all. I didnt really encounter any problems with coolant spillage. But i do have a 1971 car with the brass tank. I dont know how having the plastic tank would affect you as it could have breathing holes.
Even so. I didnt encounter very much water spillage at all. Just a few shot glasses worth.
If you feel that it needs rebuilding. I would definitely do it. It makes a world of difference to your cold start and idle.

@@Kellysg126 Yes I had it removed today but the water kept running out down on to the ground quiet a bit so I put it back on again, I will try again tomorrow, thank you

@@fUSE12100 you could always drain the resivoir first into a bucket to mitigate spillage? Or just put a bucket underneath to catch the coolant.
What model and year is your merc?
I have alot of tips on working with the d-jetronic system if you want any help.

How and where do you adjust the air and fuel mixture on this kind of fuel system? Thank you.

Hello! Sorry i didnt see this sooner.
There is a knob on the ecu to adjust the idle mixture, but overall mixture is controlled by the fuel pressure, ensure the pressure is about 2-2.1 bar while running otherwise it will run rich or lean (depending on the pressure)
