That sounds and look like a really great razor. I do like mild but very efficient razors. And I agree for new wet shave first razor would be no more than $50, then if they enjoy it they can go for a more premium razor like this one.
I'd love to one day own one of these. Too often I see new wet shavers either buy something Hella cheap off Amazon or buy something around $100. There is a lot of great $25 to $50 razors on the market. My Hope is that this series aids with that in some small way
🐐 - great review, I cannot think of anything to add to it ! I love the color of the design of those, I love the knurling on the open comb one, are you going to compare them or just review the open comb by itself?
Tobin, the review was great! The Shave gods smiled upon me when I won the Lambda Athena from Dave @OhioShaves a few weeks back. I could not afford this myself. Most expensive I have is the Rockwell T2 and that was on Black Friday last year. What you say about it is all true. I love it. I was very lucky and blessed to come into possession of this and you are right... it's not going anywhere...it is one you will have for many, many years😊👊
That is what a call a razor review ! You've gone through all of the nescesarry things we all need to know wether to buy it or not ( depending on your money offcourse ) From day one I've been hooked on this razor just by the looks of it ( box + razor itself ). I truly hope that they will keep making them so I can save for it, because damn it's so nice. I hope you can continue this kind of reviewing because I think it's so helpfull for newbee and advantage shavers. So many thank Tobin, I truly enjoyed this one ! !
Thanks, Marcus! I plan to do all my razor reviews in this format. I want to "fine-tune" them a bit, just so I can, at the bare minimum, get them to just under 10 minutes. I'm going to have to save for it as well. Money has been tight but I really want this beauty! Have a great day brother!
@@Tobins_throwbacks In my opinion it is the golden ticket of how to do a review of a razor without doing the shave itself. ( which I prefer because of the differences betweeen you and me / other viewers ). I wonder if it's possible if you can get it in a form which is downloadable and can be copy/pasted together so it's not just you but also reviewable for others ( I hope you can follow me because it ain't going so well from my side ( the total explanation ( sorry ))
I am glad you enjoyed the razor. It truly is a mechanical wonder. To have a razor with no exposure and so little gap and yet be one of the most comfortable and efficient razors you can own is truly amazing. As for Theo at Lambda, he is a gem. There is no better customer support experience you will ever have. You are right, this razor could easily sell for $400 dollars. Loved the video.
titanium is very limited current waitlist was already full at 20. but if demand is there I'm sure it will be followed up. stainless batches are not very often either there was one last year and there is one around the corner. waitlist for those are not on the site but you will need to send a separate email to get on.
This razor review format is the most effective one I have encountered. With some refinement, it will be flawless. Thank you for sharing it with me, Tobin.
Great video, great razor. I love the complete experience in style, function, and packaging. I found you do have to watch for tarnish, but it does clean up easy.
@@Tobins_throwbacks I use Blue Magic Metal Polish and Renaissance Wax. I think I got the recommendation from Peter Hendrix. He also sells kits if I recall properly.
Great format. This sounds like a great razor. Its crazy when razors are low in the specs of blade exposure and gap but shave so well. These are the ones I love for head shaves. Have a great week
Thanks, Mike! Sometimes I'm tempted to shave my head just so I have more surface area to shave. 😅 I'm a little jealous of you bald guys. 😊 Have a good one!
Knowing more finely how to relate audible feedback and blade chatter might be a matter of experience. Some of us (to include me) have limited experience with many razors. I suspect that razors can be arranged from lowest to highest audio feedback; and that the more audio feedback, the more chatter. The razors which chatter are the ones which will give us more skin cuts in a shave. I had two razors which, as best I can tell, chattered. The one which chattered more was the one which gave me too many face cuts to be countable. The one which gave less chatter usually gave me between two and four cuts each shave. Note also the two razors which were chatterers were of a *very low* prices.
Very good Tobin! It does look and from all the reviews I've seen, also shaves great. I am looking forward to seeing the Ares as I do really like open comb razors, but I don't think this one would have any issues with clogging. It is a really interesting design and for how it shaves, really something special. Was that Synergy or Symmetry? Oh geez I might need to get my hearing checked-hahahah! Synergy seems very apt as how things work together or how things work with you together. I wish that I could have got my brain working better to help-lol! Take care Brother!
Thanks Brother!! I've been using the Ares the last few days and it's a treat to use. Lol deaf old man it doesn't help that I mumble 😅 I like Synergy but I said Symmetry 😊 Part of the difficulty i was having was looking for words that translated from English to other languages easily. That way Closed Captions would be able to translate more effectively. Hope you're having a good one!
@@Tobins_throwbacks True, I hadn't thought about how it translates. I was just laughing thinking about us both yelling into one of those pipe-like hearing aids from the black and white era! Huh! What! Yeah! Take care!
I love a tiny bit of blade tab sticking out. This also means the cutting edge doesn't end and then there's a huge gap to the end of the razor head. With my Yates 921-M there's so much room between end of the head and the edge of the blade. Makes the head wider than it needs to be, trickier for under the snout angles.
sign up on the waitlist. They should be available very soon and you don't want to miss out when they are available. And NO, I don't work for them or have a financial interest in them.
Hello Tobin. Sorry to go off topic, but at 2:35 you show the blade gaps of 4 common razors. There you show the Mühle R89 and the Edwin Jagger DE89 as having different blade gaps; the Mühle at .18 and the E J at .28. I have long been under the impression that Mühle buys razor heads from E J (or the other way around, I forget which) for their 89 series. I have shaved with both of them. They shave the same, look the same, and weigh the same. Where did you get your info? Are you sure it's correct? Please let me know. Thank you.
Hey Donald, good morning! Don't worry, it's not off-topic. You're spot on. I touched on this in episode one. So, first, you are not the only person to hear the lie that Mühle and Edwin Jagger work together. This community, like the rest of the world, is full of half-truths and complete BS that gets regurgitated on the internet time and time again until it becomes law. The truth is, Mühle and Edwin Jagger DENY ever working together. As for the gaps, as with all my razors, I measure them using my OEM gauge. For this video series, what I have done is measure them and then Google search them to make sure my measurements are correct. So, yes, sir, I am 1,000% certain that they do indeed have different gaps. I'll talk about this more in my Muhle R89 Razor Review. I plan to do most of the razors in my den. Below I'll attach an article or two from Mark aka Mantic 59 where he did a deep dive into Mühle and Edwin. Hope you have a good one, and I hope this helps.
I've seen more and more people calling you the GOAT, and I have to say it fits. What a great review! 🐐
